Alveda King Says Martin Luther King Would Have Supported Pro Life Values

Dr. Alveda King

Dr. Alveda King, the niece of Marthin Luther King Jr. and the daughter of civil rights leader A.D. King (MLK’s brother) appeared on FOX News on Monday, where she discussed her uncle’s legendary civil rights work.

Additionally, she claimed that King would have adamantly defended life from “conception until natural death,” as she delved into the notion that he would have championed pro-life values.

In describing her uncle and the titles that many attempt to attach to him, she said:

“It’s not so much about labels — liberal, conservative and all of that. But he was someone who lived and gave his life to help all humanity. And so that definitely would include conception until natural death. And he would want everyone to be able to live — to have food — to have somewhere to sleep and to have a job. You know, all of those things are very important. But, he would really support the best quality of life and that is conception to natural death.”

She went on to claim that “a woman has a right to choose what she does with her body,“ but she claimed that ”the baby is not her body.”

“How can the dream survive if we murder our children?,” she asked.

      martin luther king the man was a true american. it is now unfortunate what has been done in his name. at his own church hate and politics spew forth from the pulpit. the holiday in his name has just become an excuse for division, blame and hate. this is what happens when politics decide what should be celebrated. every year the perversion of his writtings will get worse. now basically politicians say he is the basis for modern socialist theory……you know, the one that doesn’t believe and individualism, content of character nor god.

      I tracked soviet submarines for 4 years in the Navy. I knew when he was RUNNING for President that he was some form of -ist. I admit to a bit of ignorance and don’t know the subtle differences between Marxist, Communist and socialist, but I know it ain’t American, and Obummer has no concept of American values. He was in Indonesia during the Indonesian Massacre of 1965-66, then on to Hawaii, who has a very large segment that wants their independence from the United States. He is European, not American. Obamacare WILL use tax payer money for abortions. Cass Sustein decided that intelligent life doesn’t begin until after 2 years of age. He also believes that you cease to be usefull after 50 (I suppose that means UNLESS you’re an elite). You wait and see if this monstrosity isn’t repealed how hard it will be to get care for the very young or the over 50 bracket. A neurologist has already stated on the Bill Bennett show (I think) that he was told to not treat people in their 70′s, just keep them comfortable until they die.

    A woman’s right to privacy and legal abortion is a basic to her civil liberty, and is protected by the U.S. Constitution. Besides She is wrong… No the Fetus is not a baby, and is not an independent life. The Fetus It is dependent on the woman as a host. Besides those who claim to be pro-life are not anymore pro-life or pro-family than those who support a woman’s reproductive choice. The difference is Choice. The Antis want to Control a women, while those who are pro-choice support a woman’s right to make own private decisions in regard to personal reproductive decisions…whether or not to use contraception, planning pregnancies and size of your family, whether or not to continue a pregnancy, whether to adopt a child out or keep it.

    Choice…. don’t like abortion, don’t have one.

      Obviously, you haven’t found the courage to do the research on roe v wade and those who pioneered its passage: Bernard Nathanson, MD and Norma McCorvey aka Jane Roe.

      It’s easy to find on-line how they both did an about face and became STRONG PRO-LIFE ADVOCATES. Dr Nathanson authored several graphic films, “Silent Scream,” etc, also easily found on-line.

      You obviously harbor a lot of guilt, possibly because you aborted your own baby[s]. You quickly choose to ignore moral law and you hide behind roe v wade. You also seem to believe that saying “fetus” and “host” will deny the Truth that were talking about Babies and their Mothers here and Mothers murdering their own Babies.

      Life is defined in biology textbooks as that which has the characteristics of growth and development. This is the basic definition of living things and they all possess this characteristic. An embryo also has this characteristic. It is alive. An abortion kills it. This is different than contraception. A sperm or an egg do not have the characteristic of growth and development. They both will die if not joined together. Left undisturbed, a human embryo becomes a human being. You have to kill it to stop that. Therefore abortion is killing. I don’t know why this is so hard for ******** to understand. It’s biology 101. As a society, we do allow killing, but usually of the guilty, not the innocent. That’s the difference between civil and uncivil societies. They only take life when it is necessary to preserve other life, which is the ONLY case in which abortion should be allowed.

    The stand that Glenn and Pat take on abortion makes me ill…They want to allow abortions for rape and incest. Either it is MURDER or it isn’t. The rape or the incest was wrong but how can you now kill the baby? Ignorance runs amok when we dont stand for something. yes Glenn and Pat are IGNORANT on that subject!

      How would you like to be the mother and have to look into the eyes of that bastard child., knowing the violant manner in whch it was conceived? I don‘t father illigitimate kids so I really don’t worry about these things, but I’m thinking of the victim of a violant crime and her private rights.

      The way I see it .. you have a choice when you have unprotected consentual sex (or choose not to and be responsible either through birth control or abstinence) … In the case of rape or incest the victim is hardly in a postion of choice. So yes .. I am of two positions on abortion … it just depends if you have the ability to choose to prevent the pregnancy. .. Even in the event of rape or incest .. you are given a choice . you can abort the child .. or give it up for adoption (what a great gift you are giving to a family who would love the child) .. I wish more would choose the later if they do not want the child.

      “We don’t need the offspring of violant predators walking around on this earth.” It‘s not the child’s fault. To allow for abortion in these cases is equivalent to executing a man for the sins of his father.
      I feel terrible for the victims of such acts but it does not make it moral to take a child’s life. You’re thinking of a child as a possession, not as a separate entity.
      My biological mother seriously considered aborting me but fortunately decided to give me up for adoption. Sure, it wasn’t the most typical upbringing, but it was a lot better than death!

      The only case that I can see abortion being justified would be when the mother’s life is in extreme danger due to the pregnancy.

      Rape–well, while it must be horrible for aa woman to have to carry and give birth to a child conceived in that way, two wrongs don’t make a right, as they say.

      Incest–well, that’s getting too close to eugenics for my comfort.

      Health of the mother–what real mother would choose herself over her child?

      I just cannot see the murder of a child because of the sin of its father. This is a life and the mother does not have to keep or raise the child, or “look into the eyes of the bastard child”. There is this amazing thing called adoption and there are these amazing couples not able to concive who would be honored and thankful to give that child the life it so deserves.

      Difficult for the mother in any situation of rape or incest for certain, but as the mother would you rather feel the guilt of taking the life of your child or knowing you gave your child the life it truly deserves?

      Whether the choice is to kill it or give it life, that child is part of the mother too. If the child is killed without doubt the mother will face two times a year they will never forget:
      1) What would have been the baby’s birthday (due date)
      2) The day you ended that child’s life.

      There are better options than legal child scacrificing and murdering of our youth regardless of if they are unintentional conceptions or the unfortunate byproduct of horrible immoral crimes.

      I was not at the tea party event and if I were in the shape or not in the shape I’m in I would have been there but in spirit I was. And I must say when the geese flew over it was AWESOME. A one of those can you believe that moments. I did visit DC back in the day when one could just walk around, no one bothered us had picture taken under Lincoln Memorial. Another impressive sight was Quantico and the flag raising statue. Thanks for being there for the rest of us.

    I admire MLK and believe that he wanted peace among the races. I think that he would be very disappointed with the way his leagacy has been spun to benefit different groups. He was a man of peace and is truely missed in our society.

      Thank you and I agree. While not naive, I’m done with being cynical about everybody and everything. He helped energize a lot of people that needed help.

      I asked my granddaughter why she was out of school today. She answered MLK but had no idea who he was. I gave her a 2 sentence explanation worthy of a 6 yr. old and left race out of it. We are all one race…human.

      Not only is Dr. A. King a good woman, she is correct. Dr. MLK must be weeping at what has happened to his country – the freedoms we are passively giving up, the loss of instilling the love of, and need to nurture and sacrifice for, our freedoms; and the destruction of so many communities (regardless of ethnicity) from abortion.
      His MAIN MESSAGE was Freedom – NOT SOCIALISM, “SOCIAL JUSTICE,” NOR COMMUNISM.
      I still get goose bumps when i read these excerpts from his “Dream” speech:
      It is a dream…
      …deeply rooted in the American dream.
      … one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.”

      How so? Do we really need more unwed welfare broodmares having children “we” would have to raise & support only to have the cycle repeat? If they’re so morally bankrupt to have an abortion, let them so we don’t have contend with generational welfare. You’re not going to hell if “they” have an abortion and government-enforced-ban which would be nothing more than a collective-salvation-policy wont get you into heaven either. If a cluster of cells is a human life then god will have no issue accepting that life into heaven and sending the floozy to hell. I really don’t see the problem with this.
