Marxist Prof. to Protesters: Violence Only Avoidable if ‘1% Accept the Decisions of the 99%’

Communist Professor Alex Callinicos Talks Violence With Occupy Protests

On Sunday, Occupy Wall Street protesters gave a warm welcome to Alex Callinicos, a professor of European Studies at King’s College in London.

Callinicos, a self-proclaimed Marxist, was apparently proud to share his message and his beliefs with his Occupy audience.

The professor has a deep history in touting communism. He wrote a book called “The Anti-Capitalist Manifesto” and he is the editor of “International Socialism.”

“I am a Marxist,” he declared boldly. He then continued on to answer one of the burning questions many want to know: Will the movement become violent?

His answer was less than comforting. The New York Post explains:

Asked if the upcoming revolution can be non-violent, he parroted the party line of the demonstrators, who call themselves the 99 percent of Americans lined up against the “1 percent’’ with power and money.

He said violence could be avoided only if the “1 percent accept the decisions of the 99 percent,’’ which he predicted would never happen. [Emphasis added]

So if this account is accurate, Callinicos certainly doesn’t seem to be advocating for peace and non-violence at all costs. His answer, rather than focusing on conditions and demands, leaves the door open for violent action.

      Lots of shady characters involved in OWS; however, we should try to look past these wackos and consider the message in its entirety… Did Millionaire‘s and Billionaire’s get bailed out while the Middle Class got the shaft???       Well Lynda, first realize that those that call themselves “the 99%“ are really more like ”the 0.1%”. Clearly they’re NOT the 99% because even with the high unemployment of almost 10%, 90% of the working age population is going to work to support their families. Those 90% aren’t affluent enough to take time off and camp out in protest movements. so in that sense, these idiots are wealthier than you and me.

      Next realize that these clowns want everything for free and to blame everyone else for everything as if they hold no responsibility for their actions. Why would anyone (as one protester did) take out $200,000 in student loans to get a “sociology degree from Harvard?” These are people that either can‘t or won’t compete in a free economy so they want to change it to a command economy. Only they’re too stupid to realize that every command economy in history has failed miserably at providing a decent standard of living for the real 99%, while giving the political elite 1% everything.

      So, I’d say, you’re probably in the middle 50% to 75% of people that are disgusted by the antics of Wall Street, but don’t want to see the whole system trashed.

      Except for the fact that they have no real demands. But the good thing is, they forgot to bring their lil’ gloves and coats so they may freeze, and if they forgot those few essentials, I am sure they forgot their ar-15′s and their ak-47′s.       In 1917 there was a party that emphasized, they are the majority and therefore claimed having right to govern and dictate what the minority may or may not do. They called themselves majority, while lying, since in fact they were just a violent, noisy, ruthless minority they even named themselves majority, and since it was in Russia, the name stuck: Bolsheviks! Today, they are known as communist, and their ideology marxist-leninist. It does resonate today, does it not, 99% majority?

      You can stand behind me. I took an oathe to defend against enemies foreign and domestic for 11 years (formally) and I still stand by that oath. I perceive this to be a domestic threat to our coutry so if it comes to violence you can bet that I will defend my family and my rights.       MinorityRightsAdvocate: While that’s mostly true the problem is that the Banksters twisted the arms of the Elite Politicians to get their bailout so while you are technically correct there is plenty of blame to go around.. My point is there’s an issue to be addressed here and the TEA Party was addressing it in the right manner.. Let’s stay on point.

      So the prof is basically saying to the protestors that if you don’t get what you want peacefully then use violence. I say let them get violent (and, of course, be prepared for it). Average Americans will reject them for it. And the added bonus is a lot of these punks will get exactly what they have deserved for quite some time – discipline! Too bad it has to be in the form of cracked skulls now instead of spanked butts when they started this behavior years ago…..

      To be even 1% of this nation, and thus qualified to speak for 99% of their 1%, they’d have to be over 3 million strong.

      If one of their “organizers” had a brain in his or her head, they‘d talk to some regular folk who aren’t afraid to tell them what they don’t want to hear–no one likes this little group, and by no one I mean even the welfare folks, too. All those welfare folk see is a bunch of trust fund babies out in the street acting like their poor. I am poor, despite working to keep a roof over my daughter’s head, clothes on her back, and food in her stomach, and I can tell you, nothing angers me more than seeing a bunch of silver-spoon fed adolescents demonstrating against the very system that gave them, via their parents, such a well-endowed life.

      I don’t begrudge any wealth to anyone, until they fail to raise children to be thankful for all they have, and those children turn around and try to impose their selfish world view on everyone else. What these kids crapping on cop cars need is a good whipping and a year’s worth of chores. I got just the cure for smart-mouth brats, and my “cure” made me the most popular substitute teacher in the middle school. The kids told me that. Funny how kids aching for limits flourish when you insist they respect them. That’s how those parents of those useful idiots parading around like they really have some hardship to protest failed.

    According to http://www.americanparchment.com because they made Palestine a member of the UNESCO they are withholding all funding to the U.N. starting with a $60 million check that was to be shipped out next month. Okay so Solyndra received 9 times that much, this is a start.

    No it wasn’t Obama that made that decision, but the left will blame him and the right knows better.

Of course, history is not taught in the Socialist Indoctrination Centers of public education, but a brief reminder may be in order: The American Revolution and the Civil War (the War Between the States). Also note: The Japanese never seriously considered attacking the mainland of the US during WW2 because they knew there would be a gun behind every blade of grass. Look at the left’s history and the history of these types of protests..when they stop growing (and these “occupations” have indeed stopped growing..they only swell in number when the unions bus in their unionistas for a specific action..then it ebbs back to the usual, dozen to couple of hundred defecators) they stop getting attention..when they stop getting attention, they need to create attention…confrontation and violence are their only options at that point.

      Americans were different in WWII..Most Americans today have never served in the armed forces. Most are too fat and too lazy to do anything, much less fight the enemies of their country. In the revolutionary war, only 20% fought for independence, we will be lucky to get that many this next time, but we will prevail.

    We may be in the 99% as far as income, but this bunch DOES NOT speak for me. We have sometimes had to work more than one job, but we always managed to pay our own way and never expected someone with more money to give it to us.
    If violence comes, won’t all these peace loving, gun control advocates be at a disadvantage? After all, it’s the right wing radicals that are so nasty and violent. Just look at the Tea Party members.

    It’s amazing how out in the open, almost arrogant these people are now. It used to be something alluded to but never put right out in the open. They must feel the culture is right for that kind of thinking. I do believe that there are some things that are very wrong with the way the world is going. However before I start pointing fingers at anyone else for my problems I’ve first got to clean up the ones that I know I made.

    By all rights I probably fall into this “99%” demographic (20-something, in college, up to my neck in student loans), but I realize no one forced me to sign anything. I may be kinda broke right now (not to be confused with “poor” which is a mindset) but I don‘t plan on staying this way and I’d like to keep the money I do make.

    If these people want a violent revolution, I don‘t think they really understand what that’s going to mean for them. My chosen profession; engineering/gunsmithing might unfortunatly come in handy. God help them all.

    I don’t care how many degrees you have or where you teach. Communism/socialism doesn’t now and never has worked. This is for one reason….Human Nature. It always turns into a dictatorship ( Korea, China, Russia, Argentina, etc. ). I don’t know why anybody would think differently. I guess some pele always have to be different or confrontational.       Yep…I think .243 is as large of caliber as Barnes goes with them. Their MPG round is a frangible as well and I think you can get it in a .30 cal. I have 130 grain Barnes Triple Shocks loaded for my .270 and they will reach out and touch someone. For any of you not familiar with these rounds take a peek at the Barnes website for a video.
      I use their 70 grain TAC-X loaded hot for more devastating performance out of our AR(s). You need a 1 in 7 or 8 twist for them to be stable however. It is a function of bullet length not so much the weight.

    What this ‘communist person’ does not get is this; we are a center RIGHT country, and he is speaking to the 10%, who are anarchists, plus 20% socialists, 15% communist, 2% freeloaders of our society. The rest of us will put a boot in his arse, it’s the American way.

    If they so choose to revolt. it will be short lived, IMHO. What I fear most is the top down, inside out, strategy?

    Just a warning though, it took only 25% of the Russian population to revolt in earnest in the Boshovik Revolution and the same for the French Revolution.

      After seeing where this is headed I went ahead and stepped up to the .308 arena as well. I guess they are deluded into thinking WE have to follow Geneva Convention and use only FMJ ammo where they might just get a through and through “flesh wound”…WRONG. Hornady makes a beauty of a tipped hollow point that has superior ballistics as well as devastating terminal performance. Then we go ahead and step up to the Barnes Triple Shock for the more important targets such as commie professors hiding behind their cannon fodder. So sorry for you A** Hat.

      They will never leave, they enjoy sitting back and causing all the unrest and have no problem sending their sheeples out to do their dirty deeds. I do not want any violence yet I know that it is coming. They have carefully calculated to make sure that it occurrs. My biggest concern is when it comes to this and martial law is enforced, we will have no communication that will allow us to see what they will be up to, and what the state that our country will be in while we are fighting for survival. Mark my word it will not be good. It is most important that we also have a plan for this, as we would otherwise be unprepared for the aftermath. I know most of us are prepared for ourselves, our family, and our property, but are we prepared for what follows? These foolish brainwashed programed robots are willing to take this on without having prepaired for the consquences of their own doing. They are clueless, and will be left to fend for themselves when they are no longer of use. People like me are not going to make it without their medications needed to survive for any long period of time. And if we come back to a country that is ruled by the progressives we still would not get our meds according to their life charts based on age, health, expense, and whether or nor we can contribute to the society that the progressive agenda will call for. However, we can not give up and must have faith in God to see us through. God Bless you and all who will stand to defend our Nation.

    He’s off on his numbers. I would estimate that the percentage of people in America who think like he does is less than 10%. So he is saying that unless the 90% do the bidding of the radical minority violence will be used. Considering that most of the guns are held by the 90% I would advise him to rethink his position.
