Apparently the McDonald‘s employee who claimed to have the Mega Millions winning ticket didn’t after all. The Baltimore Sun reports that someone else – who wishes to remain anonymous – has come forward to claim their winnings in the same state as that alleged winner:
The holder of the winning Mega Millions ticket purchased inBaltimore County stepped forward Monday to claim the prize, officials said.
Maryland Lottery spokeswoman Carole Everett did not identify the winner, who will share the largest lottery prize in history.
Everett said the winner will remain anonymous, but the Maryland Lottery will share a “storyline” with the public during a news conference Tuesday morning.
So much for that 15 minutes of fame, then.

Posted on April 10, 2012 at 1:05amSo if Maryland allows the winner to remain anonymous, how can the other McD‘s employees know that the stupid Hattian didn’t claim the ticket? Either way we need to send her and her family back.

Posted on April 10, 2012 at 1:13amVery good point.
This is a major flaw in the system … one could just “disappear” & skip out on the spouse, relatives, co-workers/other members of the lottery pool & just about everyone but Uncle Sugar (who always gets his share of taxes before anything else happens).

Posted on April 10, 2012 at 4:28amI guess we wait for the “storyline” this morning … Don’t worry if it was this woman .. THEY WOULD KNOW .. btw couldn’t she be charged with some kind of fraud .. look what she put these other people she works with through .. and I think she better find a new place of employment ;-)

Posted on April 10, 2012 at 12:15amI think McD lady was attempting to set up a “I lost it” so when it was claimed by someone else she could scream, “It’s mine……”. Attempted fraud pure and simple. Wouldn‘t be the first time someone like her tried to claim someone else’s ticket. It happened in Ohio. The woman, Elecia Battle, could be this woman’s sister or cousin. What part of stupid do they come from?

Posted on April 9, 2012 at 11:42pmWouldn’t it be awesome if Ms. McD gave her ticket to someone else thinking that way she wouldn’t have to share it with the other employees. Then, in a twist of fate, the friend she gave it to refused to share it back with her?

Posted on April 9, 2012 at 11:12pmWhat if the new winner is the old winner? What better way to pull the press off you than to claim having won, creating a far fetched story, get a lawyer, go on TV and then make the official anonymous claim?
Wild theory. If it is not the previous fake, then shame on her.

Posted on April 9, 2012 at 11:18pmThat is exactly the same theory I came up with — the “new” winner is the original “winner” — or a proxy for the original winner. Something is very fishy with this whole deal, and I think the other McDonald’s employees need to get to the facts of the matter.

Posted on April 9, 2012 at 10:56pmI think about all the numb-skull parents who tell their own children “Now Johnny you better share your things with your friend Chuck” and then when their own child complains that bobby down the street would not let him ride Bobby’s Big-Wheel that same parent says “Well Johnny the Big-Wheel does belong to Bobby.” Because your child will think you hate him and turn a deaf ear to your words, fools your family tree is cut-off.
