May Day Gets Violent Start in San Fran: ‘Comrades’ Smash Windows, Throw Paint Balls

While it may have been April 30 last night, Occupy Oakland got an early start on its May Day protest on Monday night. And it turned violent.

Josh Barro over at Forbes has a rundown of what happened, which included smashing windows and throwing paint balls at an unsuspecting police station:

Occupy movements around the country have called for a general strike today, May 1, but Occupy Oakland got an early start with a gathering yesterday evening in Dolores Park (which is in San Francisco, not Oakland.) (Update: Occupy Oakland has now scrubbed this event from its website, but a screenshot is below.) Here’s the event description:

The Strike Starts Early: San Francisco, once a stronghold of the dispossessed, has become a playground for the rich and a living hell for those of us who cant keep up or have no interest in capitalist relations. Homelessness, gentrification, racist police murders, the displacement of all that is queer, outrageous rent prices, our list is endless: it is time to reclaim our playground. We call upon all of our comrades from every corner of the Bay to descend upon Dolores Park for a ruckus street party to counter gentrification, capitalism, and the policing of our communities.

The “ruckus street party” didn’t end well. A group of protesters (variously described as anywhere from 50 to a few hundred in several different accounts) marched from Dolores Park and started smashing windows and vandalizing cars in the Mission.

Video on the site Missionlocal.org appears to show the violence. If you listen closely, you can hear the window-smashing:

Missionlocal.org explains that the Occupy movement originally released a statement saying the vandals were not part of the movement, but later took that down:

A group of protesters vandalized dozens of businesses, cars and any property they came across while they marched through the Mission on Monday night.

The mile-long trek of vandalism began on 18th and Dolores streets, where a group of more than 100 protesters met as part of an early May Day march. Protesters walked West on 18th Street, turned left on Valencia Street, turned right on Duboce Avenue and another made a right on Mission Street before being confronted by riot police at 14th and Mission streets, according to Justin Beck and independent journalist who followed the protesters.

It is not immediately known how many people were arrested. The Occupy San Francisco group released a statement early Tuesday Morning saying that the group of vandals were not part of the movement, but the statement was taken down shortly after.

It adds that protesters seemed to be targeting luxury cars, but also smashed a mini van. Yahoo picked up on that, noting the protesters “appeared to show little regard for the property of either the 1% or the other 99.” According to Missionlocal.org, police received about 500 calls reporting damage.

      I would love to see one walk out with his semi auto looking auto with a bead right on the guy that hits his car, while being escorted with a guy on each side with a rifle scoping the others and see how quick these ******* attack after that, Oh dont get me wrong, I can see an anarchist doing his thing and throwing something at them while hiding behind a crowd but when people run from him… I’ll put money on it AT BEST, he‘d walk away throwing his arms up in the air and screaming like a tantrum child knowing he’s one threatening motion away from being worm food. In other words, he’ll wimp out knowing full well that he is alone. And any one in a mob fails when singled out.

      *Sigh* …sadly, this is California, hats off to any conservatives that can tolerate it but there are sure some cesspools in that state.

      We can’t shoot them unless they are attacking us or our families directly. I would hate to see what happens when they start to. I can see a few attacking a guy that is wearing nice clothes, maybe a suit, with some rocks and bats. I can also see that guy pulling out his Glock 22C, which he carries legally, and returning fire only until the threat is no longer valid. Then, being that he is a real American, he treats the wounded until paramedics arrive, ultimately saving a few.

      Now let’s recap. He was minding his own business and was attacked by a mob of OWS pukes because he was dressed nice (read 1%). He was attacked with rocks and other objects that could easily kill him so he shot his attackers in self defense. Then he tries to save the people he shot. How would this play in the MSM? Would it be a justified shooting? Would it be a OWS Massacre? Would the Liberals once again call for a gun ban? Heaven forbid if the man was white and the OWS attackers were anything but white. Imagine how the media would spin that? How do you think a situation like this would go down?

      The police should be equipped with paint ball like guns that shoot the same kind of indelible, permanent dye used to mark bank robbers that handle stolen money. It ought to spray more like a garden hose that single shots. Maybe have both kinds, whatever it takes to mark the vermin. That would make identification later much easier. Shoot for the face. Have been trying to think of an ugly color I don’t like, there isn’t an ugly enough one, so whatever shows up the best, or even use one that requires ultraviolet light, then they might not realize they have been tagged.

    The powers behind this are hoping for one thing. (In psyops it’s called an anchor moment)
    Imagine a young, good looking female, perhaps a minority. She should be innocent looking, no criminal record. A young college student would be best, but she must be from a fairly poor background, or lower middle class. She is attending school via a hard earned scholarship, and should be working one or more jobs.

    They want this innocent to be caught up in the protest festivities, it would be best if she was smiling when it happened. Suddenly a fired cannister of tear gas, or a police baton, or gloved fist, police shield, rifle butt, somthing that symbolizes militant authority; slams into her face, crushing it. Blood sprays, teeth clatter on the ground like pennies. She softly crumples to the ground with a soft groan. Her small body lays on the ground with a pool of blood slowly expanding under her once beautiful, but now ruined face.

    She looks vulnerable, and helpless. Everyone that see’s this awful event will want to run through their TV screen and help her, protect her from the evil and chaos around her. Her friends equally young, (and of various mixed races), will try to run to her, and help her,but the police dressed in black will ignore their desperate protests, and beat them back with fists and batons. (A few meaty “Thwack!” sounds would go good here).

      Ranger: Well said. This is not a grass roots movement. It is a scripted crisis that has taken years to plan. Obama’s rise to power from seemingly nowhere was also scripted. This is much bigger than anyone can even hope to realize. Glenn Beck has been correct so many time because he has the ability to step back and see the whole picture. What we see here isn’t a reaction to things that recently happened. If that were true, this whole OWS movement would have sprung up shortly after the bailouts. No, this is something much more evil and people like George Soros, Cas Sunstien and other radical progressive socialists are behind it.

      The demonstration I want to see is the senior citizens decending on Washington D.C. to move into the White House because this administration has cut off their social security checks and stolen their pension money. Seniors don‘t have parents’ basements to live in or to feed them and when seniors get hungry….THEY GET NASTY.
      Obamacrap CANNOT kill off all the seniors at once with Obama’s “comfort care”.
      OWS demonstrators are going to look like Mickey Mouse games compared to that one !

    Isn’t it interesting that OWS/Progs/Van Jones attack their own cities? I mean these are the cities that gestated Pelosi, Boxer, etc., with Moonbeam leading the field. On the flip side we have New York’s Schumer, Gellibrand, etc., with the Bloom leading the field. I don’t get it. This is Obama’s close friend Van Jones and his production that’s placing our law enforcement officers in danger and keeping citizens under their own version of martial law and for what? I don’t get the end game here but don’t care as long as they’re busting up their own cities. If this does spread, and I’m still awaiting Van Jones’ phase 1, the lessons that will be learned by these “give it to me free” folks will last generations. No? Try us conservatives on for size.
