McCain: ‘Highest Levels of the White House’ Responsible for Recent National Security Leaks

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Wednesday accused the “highest levels of the White House” of leaking a recent spate of stories about classified intelligence operations.
“This is the most highly classified information and has now been leaked by the administration at the highest levels of the White House. That’s not acceptable,” McCain said on CBS’ “This Morning.”
On the Senate floor Tuesday, McCain called the leaks “an intentional breach” meant as a “broader administration effort to paint a portrait of the president of the United States as a strong leader on national security issues.” He said the Senate Armed Services Committee would hold hearings on the matter.
McCain said the reports in question — two high-profile articles in the New York Times detailed the Obama administration’s terrorist “kill list” and its efforts to use cyberattacks against Iran — represent “a breach of national security.”
“Look, this puts American lives in danger, revealing our most highly classified operations, both in cyberwar and in drones –that’s just a fact,” McCain said on CBS.
He said the administration should not have confirmed facts for reporters: “All they had to do was say, this is classified information and we won’t discuss it.”
“What we’re hearing from the administration now, ‘well it was really OK,’ if it was OK then make it public, don’t do it in your dealings with a reporter for the New York Times,” McCain said. “Of course it makes the president look very decisive.”

Posted on June 6, 2012 at 2:28pmMcCain is a looser, no one cares but a few in Arizona that elected him again. He was great hero and I respect him for that but as a senator at least lately he sucks .. MSM people put him on TV just to lets us know they are fair and balanced in their reporting ….

Posted on June 6, 2012 at 3:08pmYet we already know the MSM is NOT fair or balanced. Fox is who comes closest to being fair and balanced. John showed by the way he ran his campaign that his resume was more important than slamming the Marxist in the Whitehouse. MITT better not make the same error

Senator Feinstein and Senator Leahy AGREE with him! They’re not exactly aligned with REPUBLICANS!
Both of them have called for the prosecution of the leaker when discovered.
This is serious S*#T!
I think that you should reread the article. This time for comprehension.
This is about COUNTRY…, not your opinion of the messenger! UGH!

Posted on June 6, 2012 at 10:55pmHe may be a loser in YOUR eyes, but he served his nation bravely, not only in the military, but in the Senate as well. He deserves better than your calling him a “loser”. He stands before the nation and has made true allegations against the current administration. That takes more than a little guts, especially when obama and his disciples actually admit to a “kill list”. God only knows all the names on that list, and particularly now, after Senator McCain has publicly called obama out. There is no question whatsoever that McCain is absolutely right in his accusations. All these policies start at the time and roll downhill. Anyone who doesn’t know that is naive to the point of childishness.

Posted on June 6, 2012 at 1:55pmWhat do you expect from that big mouthed treasonous bunch in D.C.? Their goal is to destroy this country and if we do not get them out and more men in like Scott Walker, they are going to keep going with this. People have been screaming about this ever since he started working towards anti-American programs, going forward with agendas that are not pro American. Take another look at what Arizona has and do your duty as congressmen should. Get that bunch of buzzards out of our White House and jail all who are a party to treason.

They will need a hearing to decide if they are going to have a hearing and then another hearing to decide if the second hearing was appropriate on and on and on . . . . .

He is only interested in being the Celebrity, the “AMerican Idol”, the glorious golden boy that’s gonna change the world. He is an inept amateur. He should be indicted for disclosing secure information and treason, because his actions have done nothing more than aid the enemy.

Posted on June 6, 2012 at 1:06pmI expect to hear even worse things coming from the liberals. They are scared, and they have reason to be. With any luck this country will be back on tract once the Republicans clean up what’s been done by BHO.
Report Post »I expect more then dirty politics, as I will always believe Arabs put BHO in the Whitehouse and they are capable of more. It’s a waiting game for respectable Americans. There has to be something more then just a conspiracy that is taking care of what’s going on within the democratic party. One day, if we make it to November, we’ll all learn the truth. I‘ve never seen any president in my life time spend money that doesn’t belong to him. I’ve never seen a president start out with $1 million and within a little over three years have $7 million. He is following in Pelosi’s footsteps with inside trading? I’m telling you, ‘we the people’ are the last to know what goes on within our government. We’re pawns and being treated like common criminals.
There is much more going on in “our Whitehouse” and what used to be “our government” then meets the eye. McCain is on top of things, and I hope they are keeping a very close eye on BHO and his Czars. They should have been stopped day ONE. No president or first lady needs the enormous amount of security, or vacations that have been taken by the Obama’s. We’ve only heard of a fraction of what they have spent since taking office. Where’s their budget? Not one! No company works without a budget.

Posted on June 6, 2012 at 12:58pmI seem to remember all the Hub-bub when someone leaked the ID of a washed up CIA agent named Plame. It was the end of the world and people were investigated to no end. The media made it sound like it was the worst thing since Watergate. Yet, a real serious breach of Nat. security by info being disclosed by the Admin., for what? To help get re-elected. Nary a peep from the main stream parrots, huh? Seems to me that unless you’re GOP you can pretty much do anything you want and get away with it. No endless investigations. It’s no big deal. Really? The only good thing is that all this will be over in November.
Hope for Change, Vote NObama 2012.
End the Monarchy. November 6, 2012. America’s Bastille Day.

Posted on June 6, 2012 at 2:26pmA few facts on the case for you; 1/2
Report Post »Department of Justice investigation Following the disclosure, on September 16, 2003, the CIA sent a letter to the United States Department of Justice (DoJ), requesting a criminal investigation of the matter.[15] On September 29, 2003, the Department of Justice advised the CIA that it had requested an FBI investigation into the matter.[15][16]
On September 30, 2003, President Bush said that if there had been “a leak” from his administration about Plame, “I want to know who it is… and if the person has violated law, the person will be taken care of.”[17] Initially, the White House denied that Karl Rove, the White House Deputy Chief of Staff, and Lewis “Scooter” Libby, Chief of Staff of Vice President Dick Cheney, were involved in the leak.[18]
Attorney General John Ashcroft referred the matter to the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Special Counsel, directed by Patrick Fitzgerald, who convened a grand jury. The CIA leak grand jury investigation did not result in the indictment or conviction of anyone for any crime in connection with the leak itself. However, Libby was indicted on one count of obstruction of justice, one count of perjury, and three counts making false statements to the grand jury and federal investigators on October 28, 2005. Libby resigned hours after the indictment.

[edit] United States v. LibbyThe federal trial United States v. Libby began on January 16, 2007. On March 6, 2007, Libby was convicted on four counts, and was acquitted of one count of making false statements.[19][20][21] Libby was sentenced to 30 months in prison, a fine of US$250,000, and two years of supervised release after his prison term.[22][23]
After the verdict, Special Counsel Fitzgerald stated that he did not expect anyone else to be charged in the case: “We’re all going back to our day jobs.”[21] On July 2, 2007, President Bush commuted Libby’s jail sentence, effectively erasing the 30 months he was supposed to spend in jail. The federal felony conviction, probation and fines still remain
Bush had it investigated.
Report Post »Where is the present monarchy on this?
It’s really no big deal.
That’s the difference right there.
Although Bush commuted his sentence, at least something was done. Not the typical oh well or it‘s someone else’s fault attitude that the present admin has.
That’s the big difference.
Not to mention the outing of one CIA agent is bad. What going on now is criminal and treasonous. All to get re-elected.
