Media or Propaganda Arm? Beck Compares Soviet Media With the American MSM

While mainstream media bias in America may be considered subtle to some, people who hail from Communist, even Fascist regimes, frequently share a common observation about President Obama, who they view as a cult of personality aided by a propaganda apparatus similar to that found in the former Soviet Union. And Glenn Beck agrees.

On Tuesday evening, Beck compared examples of media coverage in world dictatorships with that of the mainstream in America. To illustrate, consider the type of effusive, glowing praise the North Korean media heaped on Kim Jong-il, painting him as a “sacred,” almost celestial creatures too good to have been born of this earth. Likewise, news outlets stateside are enthusiastically promoting a story that Barack Obama was descended from the “very first slave,” thereby painting him as a divine, almost folkloric figure.

According to the genealogists at Ancestry.com, Obama is likely the 11th great-grandson of John Punch, the first documented American slave. The irony is that the family tree in question places Obama’s noble lineage as having come through its maternal branches. Yes, Ancestry.com posits that President Obama descended from the first American slave through his Caucasian mother, Stanley Ann Dunham.

Then of course the media lauded the “beautiful” $6,800 blouse worn by Michelle Obama, who they essentially said put Princess Kate Middleton to shame. Yet when Ann Romney wore a $990 shirt during an interview, the Washington Post (the outlet that praised the First Lady’s nearly $7,000-blouse) maintained that Romney was out of touch with ordinary Americans and that her disconnect would hurt her husband’s campaign. Romney was also chastised for not spending that thousand dollars on household items at Walmart like most everyday Americans would have done.

Despite being wealthy, Beck noted that he has “never even seen a $7,000 shirt let alone buy one.”

The striking resemblance between American and propagandist media coverage across the world’s various dictatorships can also be seen by examining the official Communist newspaper of the former Soviet Union, “Pravda.” Pravda spun Vladimir Lenin, and later Joseph Stalin’s talking points into the Russian mainstream on a daily basis.

To ensure the correct ideological spin was placed on every news item, Beck noted that Pravda even praised Stalin’s non-aggression pact with Hitler. Later, when the nuclear meltdown at Chernobyl happened Pravda didn’t even issue a report until two days later — and only did eventually because Sweden kept calling upon them to do so.

“Make no mistake, our press is turning into Pravda,” Beck noted before explaining that our media is indeed acting as a propaganda arm for the Left.

Beck mapped out the similarities on Tuesday evening, reaffirming what many already believe to be true — that the mainstream media has lost any journalistic integrity it may have once had. From the Department of Justice to the Department of Homeland Security, it seems the media, and in fact the mainstream world is toeing the party line.

“The truth is not be reported,” he said before urging everyday Americans to keep a journal of what is really happening in the world.

    Glenn has hit a nerve. The truth hurts and must be shut down. Frank Marshall Davis was a jounalist for a couple of communists newspapers and blasted America while praising the USSR and Stalin. Propanda has been used in the US for years.

    What’s hilarious about Beck comparing the MSM with Pravda/The Soviet Union is that his own events and rallies have similar totalitarian-sounding, Soviet poster material. “Restoring Love”? “Restoring Honor” “The 9-12 Project“ ”Restoring Courage“ ”1791″? If those don’t sound like some kind of Maoist/Soviet reeducation camp, I don’t know what is.
    It is all for the glory of Glenn Beck. Not our country. Witness his simpering, uber-dramatic opening to the Restoring Love rally, complete with the piano man playing the hot dogs, the fireworks. Can this guy get any more cloying and pandering towards those that worship this BS!?

    I have called the MSM Pravda for a long time. I believe they are the arm of the democrat party. I know that if this were a Republican administration the MSM would not back it, but would still be the arm of the Democrat party. It is pretty scary when our national media become part of a national party that is trying to fundamentally transform America! I also can’t believe the people that vote democrat just because they were born that way, even though the democrat party stands for nothing it did 40 to 50 years ago. President Kennedy would not be able to run as a democrat today!

      The largest network the MSM has is Fox News and Newscorp. After the Aurura shootings the CFR came out in favor of the UN Small Arms Treaty. Then I said all the CFR owned media would pick up on this support. Shortly thereafter Murdoch tweets in favor of gun control then O’Reilly (the MSM’s Top man for 12 years running) comes out in favor of gun control on prime time. What threw me for a loop was Scalia, whose obviously been corrrupted. Keep in mind they made it legal for the state to use propaganda on us, so we have to assume they’re doing so. While I agree with you that the MSM are god awful liars, we have to remember that Rupert‘s minions aren’t any different. Anything they’re pushing (Romney) is wrong for the country too and only furthering the international left’s agenda.

    I have been saying what Beck just said for two years, it would have started much sooner had the Left had the right candidate. Now they have their Dear Leader , it’s taken way to long for people to see what is going on. I remember Obama being accused of being a Socialist during the 2008 campaign, yet it was dismissed by people on the right and left. Even now with Obama being more and more out in the open about his intentions and beliefs people still are not buying it. This means that we are going to have a last minute fight to save our country and we may come up short as they are more established and organized than we are. Think about it not only do they have Billionaires funding their groups and organizations Obama has handed stimulous money to these same organizations and he has Czars working on their behalf behind the scenes out of view of Congress. They have the MSM most if not all of the Government agencies, countless think tanks who have been hard at work planning this for years. Add clever marketing and Hollywood to fool most of the masses or at least distract them. THERE IS ONE THING TO REMEMBER COMMUNISTS NEVER GO OFF SCRIPT! They will repeat what they have done in the past in other countries there is no way they can establish a Communist state without brute force, there is no way they can move forward without eliminating people they don‘t like or who don’t agree with them, we have to win if not we enter an era of sorrow and a future of misery.

    as i sit here, the entertainment program “inside edition” is covering the dustup romney‘s aid had with the press in poland and listing romney’s supposed “gaffes”. wtf? they are supposed to talk about an actor‘s affairs and pop stars’ arrests. entertainment is part of the propaganda machine to. beck should follow up and note how complicit they all are in hollyweird with the obama agenda and his faux-journalistic propaganda machine.

      You hit on the key differences, Pravda, as with the KGB propaganda divisions, are professional liars; they know no one believes them and back up their lines with the usual ‘bullet or else’ sentimentality of coersion for compliance.

      puh-leez. Beck was caught Red-Handed using vaporub for his fake tears. We will all cry real tears when Obama gets a 2nd term thanks to the Etch-a-sketch RINO from Planet Kolub. Romney has no core values. Not Libertarian. Not Constitution and definitely not Tea Party. Beck bailed on his alleged values just like anyone who votes for Romney does.
