Media: Romney Is a Racist for Using the Word ‘Obamacare’

Here’s an easy question: How do you know that a piece of legislation that was supposed to be a signature, landmark achievement for the President who signed it into law actually has become a public relations disaster?

Generally, at the point where that legislation‘s supporters don’t want it attached to the President’s name. And based on some of the more hysterical liberal reaction to Mitt Romney’s speech to the NAACP, that has been exactly the response of President Obama‘s most fervent supporters to Mitt Romney’s usage of the word “Obamacare” in the speech. According to these very supporters, tying President Obama’s name to the controversial Affordable Care Act (ACA) by calling it ‘Obamacare” is a smear. Consider these reactions, firstly, from Michael Tomasky at Newsweek (emphasis added):

But he wasn’t a race-baiter until yesterday. That speech wasn’t to the NAACP. It was to Rush Limbaugh. It was to Tea Party Nation. It was to Fox News. Oh, he said some nice things. And sure, let’s give him one point for going there at all. But listen: You don’t go into the NAACP and use the word “Obamacare” and think that you’re not going to hear some boos. It’s a heavily loaded word, and Romney and his people know very well that liberals and the president’s supporters consider it an insult. He and his team had to know those boos were coming, and Romney acknowledged as much a few hours later in an interview with . . . guess which channel (hint: it’s the one whose web site often has to close articles about race to commenters because of the blatant racism). Romney and team obviously concluded that a little shower of boos was perfectly fine because the story “Romney Booed at NAACP” would jazz up their (very white) base.

Now, notice the revealing wording here. Tomasky doesn’t say “blacks consider it an insult.“ He says ”liberals and the president’s supporters consider it an insult.” We’ll get to whether this is actually true later, but for the time being, what does this tell us about race-baiting? Apparently all you have to do is anger liberals and/or President Obama’s supporters and presto, changeo, bingo, you’re a racist.

The incoherence of this attack, however, hasn’t stopped it from spreading. Consider this clip from MSNBC’s “The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell,” courtesy of RealClearPolitics:

But the rather trivial nature of this complaint notwithstanding, the question has to be asked – is it true? Is Obamacare really a nasty slur that people use to demean the President? In answer to that, we present today’s front page of BarackObama.com, the President‘s reelection campaign’s website:

Howard Fineman, Michael Tomasky Accuse Mitt Romney of Using the Word Obamacare to Gin Up Racial Hatred in NAACP SpeechYou were saying, liberals?

This is funny Obama call it Obama care on more than one occasion and so does most of the media. We are in a time of division the right vs the left. It is more of a moral value conflict than anything else. As a Christian it is nothing new to suffer persecution from this world, but now it seems like it will increase just like the first century church endured. In China and the middle east Christians are still put to death for their belief in Christ. I am not afraid, God is in control and my outcome will be the same. The ones I feel sorry for is the millions that die only to open their eyes for the first time in eternity in Hell.

Well no boos from the group of supporters his campaign paid to attend. Are people really that stupid to not see our political theater for what it is…… All politicians are bought and paid for by the wealthy and the large corporations. You really concerned about America, than follow the money and find out who really is behind most regulations and government spending. Find out who really lobbies for and makes billions off of Food Stamps. Hint, its not the poor mother trying to feed 3 kids.

Uh, well, no, actually. Romney is NOT my first choice. And speaking as a racist myself, I can honestly testify that Romney is NOT one of us racists. The fact that Romney is being targeted as a “racist” by the media is because Romney has set off a panic in the Left by (unintentionally, by the way) exposing you American ******* Bourgeoisie to the TRUTH that…

If a politician walks into a room full of white voters and promises them all jobs if he gets elected, then the WHITE voters all cheer and jump for joy and clap and sing him praises. BUT if that same politician walks into a room full of black voters and promises them all jobs, then the BLACK voters all boo and hiss and heckle him.

That is why Romney is now a target! And speaking as a self-avowed-racist-*******-honkey-straight-white-male-nuke-the-whales-for-Jesus-paleo-conservative, I can testify to you all that Romney sure as h3ll ain’t one of us racists! That is just the commie-pinko-media trying to do damage control on you brainwashed sheeple.

This is rich. The race thing is finally having the effect I always thought it would. People are tired of it. Obama’s support among blue collar working white males is way way way low. Whites are 68% of the population. I want them to keep playing the race card. It is working fabulously for the Republicans.

      JZSaulyndra says:
“But Pelosi was right. He knew what kind of responses he’d get in front of a black audience”
You mean like the standing ovation he got at the end?
My guess is he won over just a few black voters. And as Obama likes to say…..it’s a step in the right direction.
I use the term “OBAMACARE” all the time, and will do my best to make sure it keeps being used.
And I promise you that I am not racist.
JZS, remember our long debate about my wanting to see a very basic civics awareness test be administered for the qualification to vote?
Just a few basic questions like who is the VP, what are the names of your senators, etc. Stuff like that.
My thoughts were to make sure that only informed citizens were able to vote. Even some of our founding fathers emphasized that in order for our Republic to survive, it would require a moral, and informed citizenry.
Nothing racist about that, as I prefer uninformed votes or all colors were not cast. I mean, if people with no clue are voting, we might as well just have an official coin flip instead of elections.
But anyway, JZS said I was being racist, because that would unfairly target minorities.
Is that not a racist statement in itself?
I remember quite a few other posters being quite offended by your implication JZS.
JZS, would you prefer I change my usage to BARRYCARE?
You see, I only want it associated with the man, just like when I, and others, used the term HILLARYCARE.
      Ya got that?

Here’s a good article on this very subject and how, when backed in the corner, Progressives inject race into the mix as a last ditch effort to distract. See link below

      https://lewwaters.wordpress.com/2012/06/26/when-the-going-gets-tough-play-the-race-card/

Also, in 2009 emails were leaked from the democratic party where they were discussing falsely accusing the GOP of being “racist” as a preplanned way to keep them in a box. I searched but could not find those emails again. If anyone could find them and post them on here it would be much appreciated. They were leaked about the same time that “climate gate” emails were leaked.
