Pop Star Katy Perry Attacked After Tweeting An Appeal for Her Followers to ‘Pray for Israel’

It’s been an odd few days for pop-sensation Katy Perry. Not only did she make history after tying Michael Jackson for having five #1 hits off of a single album, but now the week has taken a vitriolic twist. That’s because Perry faced a slew of angry responses from Palestinians and their supporters after she sent a tweet asking others to pray for Israel:

This supportive message offers up the word “shalom” (peace) and seems to indicate Perry’s support for the Jewish state. Of course, it didn’t take long for the Twitterverse to light up with responses from Muslims, Palestinians and others who found the her message less-than-appealing. Michelle Malkin published some of these harsh messages:

As you can see, Perry was called names, berated, accused of “spitting” on Gaza and the like. In one Tweet, an opponent writes, “Does she look like the kinda girl who prays?” In another (see below), she’s called a “heartless lesbian.”

Of course, it didn’t take Perry long to backtrack on her initial Tweet. Call it fear over negative press or simply a clarifying statement in an effort to remain neutral, but the pop star sent the following message after the firestorm erupted:

Katy Perry Faces Backlash After Tweet Supporting for IsraelSo, in the end Perry doesn’t “support any side of violence in any place for any reason.” But, what about “violence” that occurs when a nation is defending itself? Certainly, most reasonable people stand against violent actions, but many would contend that there are times during which forceful defense is a necessary evil.

Some, though, may be counting their blessings. Considering Hollywood’s leftist tilt, it‘s a wonder she’s not an unabashed supporter of the Palestinians. Perry was raised in a conservative Christian home, which may explain her less liberal inclinations on the Middle Eastern conflict (you can read about her upbringing here).

      Everything I’ve seen and read about KP over the years, shows her as a degenerate low-life…she did not mean the first Twitter, and showed her true self in the 2nd. That is why there was such outrage from her fans…they know what a piece of human trash she is, in fact, they revel in it…so they were shocked that there might be some shred of dignity or knowledge in her drug soaked brain.

      I don’t doubt she would have loved to have cursed Israel in the 2nd post, but after seeing the quick reaction of her “fans” who thought she had taken a side…she chose to ride the fence.

      What did “he” tell us? Wolves will come to you in the guise of sheep…don’t be fooled by or start praising anyone who says something positive about Israel in the near future. In spite of how moving GB’s “Restoring Courage” is…it is not going to alter overnight, anyone as entrenched in their ignorance or who has lived the bulf of their lives as a disgrace.

      Look at the whole picture of their lives and beliefs…before you judge or praise the painting.

      It really is time for every conservative to boycott Hollywood!
      I have been doing it for a few years now and do not missed it at all.
      Every time an actor or actress speaks out about their progressive liberal politics
      they are added to my “do not watch list”. It has grown quite large as of late.
      I’ve also unplugged from direct TV and facebook and lost the cell phone.
      Do you really need to be reached 24 hours a day?

      So while today it’s fairly easy to pin so much of the violence on the Palestinians, it does no one any good if you they do not understand that a large Arab population was systematically removed

      I don’t think she is praying for a military or ideological victory. She is praying for someones personal safety.

      She said she was going to do something, then she did. Now tell me how that is backing out of anything?

      The Blaze implies she is in support of Israel here,

      “This supportive message offers up the word “shalom” (peace) and seems to indicate Perry’s support for the Jewish state.”

      Then implies that she changed her mind.

      “Of course, it didn’t take Perry long to backtrack on her initial Tweet.”

      This is an example of taking a total “non-story” and making it news.

      AvengerK: Don’t confuse facts with anti-Semitism.. I know it’s easy to do these days. Seems that there’s an anti-semite behind every bush these days if you don’t support eternal War for Israel and if you question their Supremacy in America.

      Anyone who beleives that tha Palestinians have a claim one any land, any where is an idiot. Palestinians are a Jordanian tribe who are pariahs in Jordan. Jordan controlled what is called the west bank, which is historically Samaria and Judea. Jordan started a war of aggression against Israel and got their butts kicked. Israel retook their historic territories of Samaria and Judea as a result of their victory over the Jordanian aggressors. Too bad, not so sad Jordan. If the Palestinians want a homeland, that’s all well and good, but it is in Jordan. God told the Jews to wipe out the peoples in the promised land that He had given them, they rebelled and have paid the price ever since. Israel will never be able to placate the Palestinians. They need to cleanse the land of them … one way or another. Even as a Christian, who am I to argue with God’s own words on how He told the Jews to do it? Palestinians have defined their goals, the physical eradication of all Jews. Israel need to once again relalize that they are in a fight for their existance, and act accordingly.

It is too bad that we have so few “celebrities” who have any “character” at all. This young person wanted to “feel” like she had character and compassion…but as soon as the heat turned on…she ran for cover like a frighten little mouse, more concerned about “ratings” than about people or convictions.

      Let me slow it down for you…To deny Israel a defense is to deny Israel LIFE. To come out against violence that accures in Israel DEFENSE is to support Hamas.
      He77 I like everyone wish the violence would end. And my defense of Israel is only there because It is where the hebrews of Egypt settle after being slaves for close to if not a thousand years. They build the land and the city. More over the Jewish people who inhabit ISRAEL WELCOMES ALL PEOPLE OF ALL FAITHS TO LIVE TOGETHER IN PEACE.       I am not a fan of pop music but I am now a fan of Katy Perry. She didn’t deserve any of the vitriol and was only trying to spare herself more trouble by backtracking. I’m sure her heart is still in the right place.       As glen would say know your history, Israel has attacked palistine even when there have been no rockets being fired. Israel has killed far more civilians this is undisputed. Of course Israel has to protect its own land, but no one should support expansion through entrapment and destruction or molitary ops designed to punish civilians.     I always liked that chick. I hope she stands her ground against those who would mock what they don’t understand. Folks like Bill Maher speak down to anyone with faith because they have none. At the very least, most religions are teaching the philosophy on HOW to live a good life and the left just doesn’t get that or having faith in anything greater than themselves.

      I do not believe that Katy Perry is spineless. If that is what you were intending. I think she reacted impulsively and her reaction in the irst stance was maganimous—she is a prayerful, Christian girl. She started her career singing God’s Glory in the evangelical church—writing songs as a LITTLE girl. No—she is not spineless. She has her own mind. She merely explained prayer for folks in trouble and scared.
      Israel is not apartheid; is not ruthless unless provoked unfairly. Palestinians have more good than bad happening to them in Israel. Tremendous entitlements exist for them. But the Hamas bombings kill Palestinians living in Israeli cities, too. BTW, Palestinians are not required to be in the IDF. Well, Israel is being bombed. WHO protects them? The lies about Israel are unbelievable by the Left and the mainstream media. Whew!
      Please—realize that Americans have a right to pray for whomever they want. Spine IS praying for people who need help. There are innocents involved in every conflict. Israel is a postage stamp on a football field. Katy Perry get this. Her Judeo-Christian background is tremendous and exemplary. Get off her back.
