Megyn Kelly Confronts Milwaukee Union President Over ‘Sick’ Teachers

During an interview Tuesday, Fox News’ Megyn Kelly repeatedly tried to nail down an answer on whether Milwaukee Teachers Union president Mike Langyel condoned teachers using fake medical excuses to get out of work to attend protests in Madison. But when the union prez refused to address her question directly and suggested her question was “the wrong one to be asking,” Kelly laid down the law, reminding Langyel of his role as her show’s guest.
“For better or for worse, I’m the anchor and you’re the guest,” she said. “So I’ll come up with the questions and you can answer them or not.”

Posted on February 22, 2011 at 6:11pmThe question should be: How does your union improve a childs education by illegally striking?
The next step shold be a class action law suit against the union to recoup losses from thisillegal act.
The step after that would be to follow the union contract for disciplinary action on each teacher not really out of work with a real reason.
Lastly, the Doctors who defrauded the people by handing out cover notes should have licenses to practice revoked for unethical behavior.

Posted on February 22, 2011 at 6:06pmGood for Megyn. I’ve seen Hannity try to rein in talking point mumbo jumbo too by saying “stop!” over and over again. I‘d love it if broadcasters gave themselves permission to pull the plug on talking point artists who don’t answer questions directly. But I suppose that leaves people open to being silenced when their answers appear to be outvof alignment with what that particular media outlet is looking for.

Posted on February 22, 2011 at 7:03pmThe union……………….trying to make better conditions for the kids? That’s like saying the unions in Detroit were trying to build a better car, when in fact they went after higher wages for the workers so they could support their drug habits and then continuous free programs for the addicted. The unions don’t care about the product, just a big membership to keep the money flowing in. In truth they really don‘t care about the members and certainly don’t care about the children in Wisconsin. Their purse strings being limited and the political clout, that’s what they care about.

Posted on February 22, 2011 at 6:13pmOh, you go girl. Because the really important issue are the phony sick leave slips that these workers are obtaining. Way to provide clarity for us, Megyn Kelly. Where were you when we were wondering about the medical leave that Bush got during ‘Nam or the deferrments that Cheney got? Apparently, the key issues here: 1) why does the WI governor want to obtain more than wage concessions but total loss of collective bargaining rights? 2) what blame should the tax cuts he implemented for corporations, which explain most of the budget shortfall, carry in all of this? 3) are the workers being overpaid relative to equally educated private sector workers and to public sector workers in other states? 4) why was Michigan able to get wage concessions peacefully without seeking limits on collective bargaining just a few weeks ago, but WI can’t seem to do that? 5) what promises did the WI governor make to his largest political donor, the Koch brothers, who have spend millions on phony research attempting to establish that unions are bad for America?
But I don’t think Megyn Kelly will ask any of those more important questions, since she knows what side of her bread is buttered at Fox News. She has a narrative to uphold.

Posted on February 22, 2011 at 6:19pmMolech or Moloch, whose name probably derived from Melech “king,” was one of the deities worshipped by the idolatrous Israelites. He was referred to as “the abomination of the children of Ammon” (1 Kings 11:7) and the primary means of worshipping him appears to be child sacrifice or “to pass through the fire.” Solomon was said to have built a temple to him.
Molech was a god worshipped by the Canaanites, Phoenicians, and Ammonites. Foolish Israel began sacrificing her children in fire to this pagan god. The Canaanites were a Semitic people who occupied Palestine between the Jordan and the Mediterranean centuries before Israel invaded the land. The Phoenicians occupied what is today the area of Syria and Lebanon and were the foremost navigators and traders of the Eastern Mediterranean by 1250 B.C. The Ammonites (also a Semitic people) lived East of the Jordan in what is present day Jordan. The worship of Molech was well established centuries before Israel settled in the land of Palestine.

Posted on February 22, 2011 at 6:37pmHank Paulson’s 500 million tax free in 2007 ? I am glad he really needs the money
When Hank Paulson agreed to become Treasury Secretary in May of 2006, he found himself in a bit of a pickle. You see, he owned about $500 million in Goldman Sachs stock, from his days as CEO of the firm.
So to avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest, government rules forced Mr. Paulson to sell all that stock. Phew, looks like we dodged a bullet there…
Mr. Paulson’s conflict of interest also brought a very unique benefit: He didn’t have to pay any capital gains taxes on the sale of that stock — zero. The Economist estimated his tax savings to be $200m. That’s not bad compensation for less than 3 years of work at a “public service” gig. He also got a nice salary and generous benefits. For more on the intimate relationship between Goldman and Government, see this post.
The ethics rules that forced Paulson to sell his GS shares were designed so that rich executives aren’t dissuaded from entering public service due to tax issues. But they seem to have the opposite effect. It encourages these guys to move to Washington after they’ve made their fortunes. Getting a government job with conflicted interest turns out to be a fantastic tax dodge. Not to mention all the good you can do while in office (for your buddies, high-five!). Sorry, I’ve been watching too much Borat/Ali-G lately.
As most people know, Paulson went on to orchestrate the largest corporate bailout in history. Some banks failed, some will prosper in a thinned field of competitors. One of the major beneficiaries was the firm he formerly headed, Goldman Sachs. They received $10b in direct aid, plus another $12b indirectly, via the AIG bailout. Goldman argues that even if AIG wasn’t bailed out, they would have collected most of their $12b. They may be correct, but I am skeptical. To be clear, I am not accusing Goldman or anyone else of illegal activity or fraud. But things seem very fishy.
Goldman is also a major government contractor, which means the Treasury Department pays Goldman millions for their expert advice on financial matters. And Edward Liddy, who was appointed by Paulson to head up AIG, is a former director at Goldman. How much more conflicted can the entire situation get? Mr. Liddy was officially only paid a $1 salary for his time at AIG, but he still owned roughly $3 million in Goldman Sachs stock.

Something to consider;
Note; this principal ALSO applies to the
OLD republican establishment (Bush’s, etc)
You can tell when the LEFT REALLY IS scared of a Republican
by the amount of vitriol their TROLLS spew.
The MORE they SPEW, the MORE terrified they are the of
the Republican being able to beat their Dumb-O-cRAT candidate.
Sarah Palin is the PERFECT EXAMPLE OF THIS, as is Michele Bachmann.
Sarah Palin SCARES the we-we out of the Leftwing-Nut, Libratard,
Progressive, Dumb-O-cRAT Party,…
Because,..
Wait for it,…
They KNOW Sarah Palin IS electable,…
AND IF she runs against barry in 2012,…
She WILL CRUSH him with indisputable numbers.
(44 to 48 state landslide. Barry will MAYBE get
ILL & MI plus possibly MA, Hawaii, NY, & CA)
So they MUST do EVERYTHING possible to DESTROY her
AND her supporters BEFORE this becomes too apparent.
Unfortunately for them, it seems the cats out of the bag,…
and it IS too late.
Their attempt to link her to the Tucson AZ shooting exposed them to everyone.

Posted on February 22, 2011 at 6:52pmHigh-flying business executives almost always endure financial sacrifice when they make a detour into public service. Paulson is no different: The Goldman Sachs boss will see his annual paycheck shrink from last year’s $38 million to a paltry $183,500 once he takes over the job of Treasury secretary.
But don’t shed too many tears for Paulson. He has amassed quite a fortune–a roughly $700 million equity stake in Wall Street’s premier investment banking house. And soon, he will have the chance to diversify a good chunk of those holdings without paying a dime to the Internal Revenue Service.
By accepting the Treasury post, Paulson is poised to take advantage of a tax loophole that allows government officials to defer capital gains taxes on assets they have to sell to avoid a conflict of interest, as long as the proceeds are reinvested in government securities or a broad array of mutual funds approved by the government within 60 days.

Posted on February 22, 2011 at 7:24pm1) why does the WI governor want to obtain more than wage concessions but total loss of collective bargaining rights?
Even Franklin Delano Roosevelt saw the inherent problems associated with allowing collective bargaining within the public workforce:
“The process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service,” Roosevelt wrote in 1937 to the National Federation of Federal Employees. Yes, public workers may demand fair treatment, wrote Roosevelt. But, he wrote, “I want to emphasize my conviction that militant tactics have no place” in the public sector. “A strike of public employees manifests nothing less than an intent on their part to prevent or obstruct the operations of Government.”
2) what blame should the tax cuts he implemented for corporations, which explain most of the budget shortfall, carry in all of this?
http://www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/23034.html
None ABC. What he is trying to do is make it more attractive for businesses to stay in Wisconson or move to Wisconsin.
3) are the workers being overpaid relative to equally educated private sector workers and to public sector workers in other states?
http://reason.org/news/show/public-sector-private-sector-salary
“from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, as of December 2009, state and local government employees earned total compensation of $39.60 an hour, compared to $27.42 an hour for private industry workers-a difference of over 44 percent. This includes 35 percent higher wages and nearly 69 percent greater benefits”
Yes!
4) why was Michigan able to get wage concessions peacefully without seeking limits on collective bargaining just a few weeks ago, but WI can’t seem to do that?
http://www.mackinac.org/12433
Did they really take concessions?
5) what promises did the WI governor make to his largest political donor, the Koch brothers, who have spend millions on phony research attempting to establish that unions are bad for America?
And liberals like you say Glenn Beck is a conspiracy theorist!

“3) are the workers being overpaid relative to equally educated private sector workers and to public sector workers in other states?” Absolutely I have already posted how your assertion based on a Rutgers study is filled with bias and error about public and private sector incomes as well as the governments on stats on the FACT that public sector incomes have out paced private sector incomes. Posted on February 22, 2011 at 8:30pm@ABC….you write;
Oh, you go girl.
She has a narrative to uphold
1) Collective bargaining for BENEFITS and work rules is what has created the budget mess by giving union members ways to pad their pensions to ASTRONOMICAL extremes. If you listened to the SOURCE you would understand this. Examples are far too numerous to list.Shut your yap and do a tiny bit of research and you would know these things.
Report Post »2)None as they do not take effect until the NEXT biennial budget. The last governor created this sewer.
3)Yes, once again a little research would show you they make approx. 50% more in base pay and their benefits are in the multiples of ten of what the private sector recieves.
4) Michigan is weak, democrat dominated and they kicked the can down the road.
5)I would love to see proof of that. As a very nosey supporter of Scott. I have researched the donor list. The largest donor is little people in donations of under $50. Only democrats recieve ginormous donations such as you describe.
In summation, you have covered all the talking points, dispelled lots of dis-information and proven once again that you are a tool. Research your talking points before walking into a den of knowlegable lions. Once again you are owned by the members of the blaze. Your insults nourish us, your stupidity amuses us,your presence irritates us. You waste our time trying to peddle your silly tripe. Grow up.

He also loves to hear himself speak… He will probably retort with some deflections and ridiculous positions that he will search high and low on the net to try and find some supposed reputable source to quote or at least mention. I have found him to be quite inconsistent and states many times only slanted or biased information calling it the whole truth. His pride is his own worst enemy as I think he supposes he is an authority on pretty much everything. Either his wife is this or that or he has German friends that know this or that or he was an economic guru here or there or whatever he likes to spout. As a physician he actually tried to tell me I was wrong about human development in the womb and tried to misstate medical facts. If he responds to me he will say I am resorting to ad hominems, but I am simply stating what my experience has been with the man who thinks he knows all things and has no problem letting you know it. People who comment and read know exactly what I am saying. He is condescending an arrogant and thinks he has knowledge that we just can’t seem to grasp because we are just so gullible and caught up in the “propaganda” of others. Guess he thinks we are so simple we need him to open the door to reason on every story here “cuz we just to stupid to feegure it out ourselves”. I have seen him dodge the point of a question with the best of them. He certainly is good at it, but of course practice does make perfect.

His he serious? Who is he to tell this lady what to ask him? Fake Dr. sick notes – that is straight up FRAUD and a LIE – is that what the union members want to be known for? I didn‘t as a member and I still don’t. This man confirmed I did the right thing by quitting my job – done giving my hard earned money to UAW – UAW is all about politics and asking for too much, not protecting the members when need be, protecting those when they should not be, and not teaching our children. YES – I feel I received too costly benefits for my job, and what of it? I have the right to say that – I paid a lot of taxes and union member dues for 13 years! I know what is right and what is wrong. I like to do right. The unions don’t like they are not getting what they want so they are trying to blame the govenor for being a dictator…REALLY? What BS! The govenor went thru the democratic process. How is he taking the teacher’s voices away? HEY TEACHERS, call and e-mail your people in office and ask them to vote no. The govenor was voted in – he has a different opinion, and? How the heck is the govenor confrontational? Wow! They have no room to talk – they are acting like the mob….nice technique A-HOLES!! Protestors/teachers left work to BULLY and be like the mob to get what they want which is toooo much! Too costly! Numbers don’t lie. Why would anyone in American think education is a right? Teach your child yourself. How about we stop relying on tax money to keep the schools open and the parents start paying into themselves? The gov‘t and unions can’t teach our children – can’t anyone with common sense see the teachers are getting lazier and the kids are getting more stupid? Collective bargaining is a way to put a stick in front of the teachers with great benefits hanging from it while the teachers follow it while drooling and realistically these benefits are costing our children’s minds. Yeah right they would hire a team of lawyers and sue the pants off of Rupurt. But see teachers dont have a team of lawyers. they have unions to protect them. Thats what unions do. Remember without unions in Wisconson you wouldnt have a 40hr work week, You wouldnt have Weekends, thats what Wis. Unions have done for you. Leave our educators alone. How about cutting billions in farm subsidies to grow no crops. Or cut the billions of oil subsidies that Exxon, BP and Mobil get every year. they are the Top 3 money makers in America and we give them billions of subsidies a year. Make sense too me. Leave the teachers firefighters and cops alone. without them we dont have functioning Cities. And stop corporations from trying to pay us 3rd world pay. They are trying to make us accept Chinese and Japanese wages. Once they get that /america is over. Not very hard to see. Unions elect Democrats and Corporations elect Republicans. Simple as that. “@ ABC, Do you hold the same standards for the other network news?”
Yep. But they do a better job than Fox, which has the lowest journalistic standards out there.
“Are you honestly concerned with finding a solution or is it the same old closed minded Dem‘s vs Repub’s rhetoric?”
Yep. Just like Michigan did, but they didn’t go after critical bargaining rights. They just solved the budget problem. WI’s Governor wants more than a balanced budget, and anyone who asserts otherwise is a liar since the Governor has himself admitted as much.
“One thing is certain, labor cost’s in this country, across the board, have led to outsourcing and therefore lost job’s.”
Nope. Outsourcing is occurring for a wide variety of reasons, rather than just do to labor costs. Anyone who asserts such an overly simplistic answer has an overlysimplistic view on the subject.
“You think it‘s because taxes aren’t high enough for some corporations?”
Depends what you are talking about. At the federal level, corproate taxes as a share of GDP (the correct way to look at it, and therefore the way that Republicans choose not to look at it) have declined by nearly 50% since 2000. While the GOP talks about the highest (actually second highest) tax rate in the world for US companies, the reality is that the major companies do not pay anywhere near that 35% rate. Lots of dishonesty at the federal level. WI has a top-15% income tax rate, but I don’t know how the burden is shared between individuals and companies. But I do know that the Koch brothers want corporate tax rates to go to zero, and they were Walker’s biggest political donor this cycle by a mile.
“Which corporations get to pay higher taxes? The one‘s that are in bed with the Dem’s? The one‘s that are in bed with the Repub’s? The one’s that are in bed with the administration of the day?”
All companies should pay the same rate with no loopholes that bigger companies can exploit. Of course, both sides have special interest groups that will try to draw up something else. But campaign finance reform, which helps to alleviate the power of these groups, was defeated by conservatives, not liberals.
“I believe there would be more money available for state public services if money didn’t have to be filtered through the greedy, corrupt, massively wasteful federal government and its unconstitutional agencies and departments.”
Belief is not an accounting principle. Knowledge, facts and figures are. And while there is greed and corruption in the public sector, it also exists in equal measure in the private sector, or maybe you didn’t see the bonuses collected on Wall Street after those firms were bailed out. Or maybe you haven’t seen what Halliburton has done over the last several decades. And as for unconstitutional agencies, you cannot claim something is unconstitutional unless you are a judge–preferably on the SCOTUS. And those folks haven’t ruled that way, so come back to reality.
“People who call themselves liberal, where’s the liberty in a hugh coercive central government.”
Liberty is such a funny word. It can be twisted to mean taking away people’s legal right to gather together and collectively bargain for better compensation. That sounds like freedom to me. So is the freedom to strike. The very same rights that workers in the private sector have should be respected by government employers. Taking that right away is limiting liberty, not extending it. Except in the fantasy world of conservatives, where words apparently have opposite meanings…

Wages have been stagnant for 20 years and the Corps. are making record profits, yet the Republicans want you to believe that it’s because of the Dems. It’s because of all of them, they vote in favor of the Corporations every time, wake up America!

“@ ABC……..”why does the WI governor want to obtain more than wage concessions but total loss of collective bargaining rights?” Wrong, they maintain the right to collectively bargain for salary…..”
Compensation is salary, benefits and pension. If you limit collective bargaining to only one, then you can gut the compensation using the other two. Let’s illustrate with a little game: you work for me and we negotiate your salary, then I cut your benefits and pension by very large amounts. What can you do? Nothing. How is this a right to bargain over compensation?? Think, buddy, think.
“2) what blame should the tax cuts he implemented for corporations, which explain most of the budget shortfall, carry in all of this?” None their corporations were leaving like crazy and they desperately need to attract corporations not repel them like deet with high taxes.”
Agreed, but the Governor has admitted that he would push to eliminate the collective bargaining rights even if enough concessions were made to cover the deficit. Only clueless people or liars are maintaining that this is the real reason.
“3) are the workers being overpaid relative to equally educated private sector workers and to public sector workers in other states?” Absolutely I have already posted how your assertion based on a Rutgers study is filled with bias and error about public and private sector incomes as well as the governments on stats on the FACT that public sector incomes have out paced private sector incomes. I will not post the same links I did on another post but hey are there. Of course I’m sure you will come back with your typical expected response but again you have embellished and misstated my inconsistent friend to support your views.”
It is not a single study showing this. There are MULTIPLE studies showing that public sector workers have higher average education levels. The average percentage of the general population with a BS or BA is less than 30%, while it is well above 50% for public workers. Your counter studies are propaganda, not economic research. You give yourself away by denying what is uncontroversial.

“1) Collective bargaining for BENEFITS and work rules is what has created the budget mess by giving union members ways to pad their pensions to ASTRONOMICAL extremes. If you listened to the SOURCE you would understand this. Examples are far too numerous to list.Shut your yap and do a tiny bit of research and you would know these things.”
Numbers would help here, since the level of overpayment disappears when educational adjustments are made. And benefits and pension are high because salaries are much lower including those adjustments. You can name-call all you want, but until you can produce some dollars and cents, it is hard to make your case. And if I should do research to find your conclusions, you might want to cite some data or sources…
“2)None as they do not take effect until the NEXT biennial budget. The last governor created this sewer.”
But that deficit, in the next fiscal year, is what is being cited by the Governor as part of the reason for the demanded cuts. More fundamentally, creditors don’t care whether a government defaults because it spend too much or taxed too little, so anyone who claims that you don’t need to find budget offsets for tax cuts is just plain wrong. Everything needs a “funding” source, since that is what the creditor demands. If you don’t understand that, then you understand little.
“3)Yes, once again a little research would show you they make approx. 50% more in base pay and their benefits are in the multiples of ten of what the private sector recieves.”
Wrong. You are comparing apples to oranges. You cannot say doctors are overpaid since they make more than teachers. It took the MD’s longer to get their degrees. Similarly, public workers have higher educational levels and skills, so they command higher pay. Comparing them to the subset of private sector workers with equivalent education and skills. See:
https://www.msu.edu/~drdale/Publications/Public%20Sector/The%20Truth%20About%20Public%20Employees%20%20Overpaid%20or%20Underpaid.pdf

http://www.cepr.net/index.php/publications/reports/wage-penalty-state-local-gov-employees/
“4) Michigan is weak, democrat dominated and they kicked the can down the road.”
This isn’t about the budget. It is about Republicans seeking to undercut unions. Gov. Walker admitted as much, so the can down the road analogy doesn’t fit. Democrats believe that workers have a right to collectively bargain. Republicans do whatever corporate special interests ask them to do.
“5)I would love to see proof of that. As a very nosey supporter of Scott. I have researched the donor list. The largest donor is little people in donations of under $50. Only democrats recieve ginormous donations such as you describe.”
I stand corrected. The Koch’s were the second largest donor. They missed first place by $125. See:
http://motherjones.com/mojo/2011/02/wisconsin-scott-walker-koch-brothers
This is all a matter of public record.
“In summation, you have covered all the talking points…”
They are called facts.
“…dispelled lots of dis-information…”
It’s misinformation. And I try.
“…and proven once again that you are a tool.”
A tool for truth in reporting and factual accuracy, something in short supply here.
“Research your talking points before walking into a den of knowlegable lions.”
I’m not impressed with the knowledge, and you cite few sources to have much credibility at all. Do you even know what research is??
“Once again you are owned by the members of the blaze.”
Retreat and declare victory. Nice try.
“Your insults nourish us…”
Calling out your ignorance is not an insult. I am doing you a favor.
“…your stupidity amuses us…”
If factual accuracy is stupidity, you must live on a funny farm.
“…your presence irritates us.”
The truth hurts.
“You waste our time trying to peddle your silly tripe.”
Facts and logic are not tripe. But the stuff that you wrote is worth less than tripe, which at least nourishes the body, if not the mind.
“Grow up.”
I already have.

“@338LAPUA….I challenge ABC all the time and trust me he is as inconsistent as it gets.”
Strange. You couldn’t name one, but calling consistency inconsistency is the orwellian games that pass for sound thinking here.
“He also loves to hear himself speak… He will probably retort…”
Of course. Because I cannot stand lies. And you tell lots of them.
“…with some deflections and ridiculous positions that he will search high and low on the net to try and find some supposed reputable source to quote or at least mention.”
Yes. Because universities and well-read newspapers are such fringe outlets to site. By the way, I don’t search high and low. It takes but a few seconds to pen explanations of knowledge that anyone with a good university degree should already know. What you call research I call basic knowledge. Don’t keep embarassing yourself this way.
“I have found him to be quite inconsistent and states many times only slanted or biased information calling it the whole truth.”
That is because you don’t understand complexity, and because you prefer to keep your partisan beliefs rather than understand issues.
“His pride is his own worst enemy as I think he supposes he is an authority on pretty much everything.”
Is a pro athlete being prideful when they assert that they can school you in their sport? If you lack my intelligence and education, then why am I at fault for your failings or weaknesses? Call it pride, but I don’t suffer fools gladly. And you are a prideful fool.
” Either his wife is this or that or he has German friends that know this or that or he was an economic guru here or there or whatever he likes to spout.”
Nope. I comment on what I know, or what my sources that I trust say is true, but you could consult others in the field to see that what I say is true. You simply cannot handle the truth.
” As a physician he actually tried to tell me I was wrong about human development in the womb and tried to misstate medical facts.”
Wrong. I claimed that IVF involves the injection of chemicals to kill unwanted embryos in a petri dish. And my wife has seen it done, and whether you are a doctor or not hardly changes that fact. By the way, the last stat I saw showed that in 2002, there were 400K embryos in storage, but it is believed that nearly that many had been destroyed. And of that 400K, only a precious few will become snowflake babies. These are all facts, which you apparently contest, and I am to ignore these facts, not to mention the opinion of doctors trained at the best hospital in the world, merely because you are a doctor. Nice try.
“If he responds to me he will say I am resorting to ad hominems, but I am simply stating what my experience has been with the man who thinks he knows all things and has no problem letting you know it.”
The truth hurts.
“People who comment and read know exactly what I am saying. He is condescending an arrogant and thinks he has knowledge that we just can’t seem to grasp because we are just so gullible and caught up in the “propaganda” of others.”
Yes. Econometric studies of wages, like the ones cited above are propaganda.
“Guess he thinks we are so simple we need him to open the door to reason on every story here “cuz we just to stupid to feegure it out ourselves.”
Yep. You are pretty simple in your thinking, but you reject every opportunity to learn why you are wrong, while failing repeatedly to contest the fact presented. Pretty sad that you have to attack my personality, since you cannot rebut the facts.
“I have seen him dodge the point of a question with the best of them. He certainly is good at it, but of course practice does make perfect.”
Name a question I have dodged.

“Yep. But they do a better job than Fox, which has the lowest journalistic standards out there.”
Show me the journalistic standard scale that is out there. The major networks failure to be honest and fair created the vacuum that Fox has filled.
“Yep. Just like Michigan did, but they didn’t go after critical bargaining rights. They just solved the budget problem. WI’s Governor wants more than a balanced budget, and anyone who asserts otherwise is a liar since the Governor has himself admitted as much.”
Michigans “balanced budget” gives the next governor a 1 billion dollar shortfall due in large measure to the solutions employed to achieve budget balance in FY2011
“Nope. Outsourcing is occurring for a wide variety of reasons, rather than just do to labor costs. Anyone who asserts such an overly simplistic answer has an overlysimplistic view on the subject.”
Yes there are a wide variety of reasons, mostly due to costs. Labor is a major cost factor. Do you think the maquiladoras are because of warmer weather? Number 1 reason is labor costs.
As for corporate taxes and percentage of GDP. No matter what tax rate you put on corporations, who ultimately pays those taxes? They become tax collectors. You raise their taxes they raise your cost.
“Belief is not an accounting principle. Knowledge, facts and figures are. And while there is greed and corruption in the public sector, it also exists in equal measure in the private sector, or maybe you didn’t see the bonuses collected on Wall Street after those firms were bailed out. How’s the current “accounting principle” working out for you? $14,000,000,000,000 debt. I “BELIEVE” were screwed laddie, and the new budget changes nothing and just “kicks the can down the road”.
Several of those bonus collectors from Wall Street now have a job with this administration. And what has Haliburton done over the last several decades? Is it similar to what GE is doing now?
“And as for unconstitutional agencies, you cannot claim something is unconstitutional”
Damn right I can. The Constitution is very clear. The SCOTUS decisions have always been right? Maybe you should come back to reality.
Liberty. I don’t understand why people, and apparently yourself, want to have a hugh, unaccountable, greedy, corrupt, grossly wasteful centralized government. Your defense of the status quo is insane. Your faith in this corruption is boggling. You must get paid to do this or you are one incredibly closed minded individual.

Posted on February 24, 2011 at 12:52amOne major thing was not mentioned. While the Unions had the collective bargaining rights, the cost of education in WI went up from $4800 to $11000 per student. However, 66% of 8th graders still cannot even read at grade level. Maybe there is a connection here. That is why I see a shining example of hypocrisy and that is why I would like to see this relationship broken.

Until then, I believe it’s about Union Power and controlling all the work force. If it were really about the children, why, in Wis. do so many have such low test scores? This tells me it’s because they do not have competent teachers. The union keeps bad, bad teachers working even if they are doing the worst job in the world. Not all are competent teachers and should go on to other work, but you’ve made it impossible to leave a good wage, great working hours, 10 months a year, including health care & pensions paid for the the general public.
