It’s hard to imagine how, but somehow Fox managed to work Megyn Kelly, John Stossel, and an Alpaca into the same segment. And yes, it was entertaining TV.
The premise of the segment was that people were calling Stossel a bigot for his recent show exposing alpaca farmers for the incredible amount of tax breaks the industry receives, and Kelly wanted to bring him on to defend himself.
So how did Stossel do that? By bringing an alpaca on live TV. Sure, he also said he was baffled as to why people consider him a bigot and a racist. But in the end, he brought an alpaca on live TV.
And just when you thought the clip couldn’t get any better, it also includes Kelly scolding the alpaca for trying to peek up her skirt. Like I said, entertaining TV:

Posted on January 19, 2011 at 10:46pmThis is why we will never get The Fair Tax. The Progressive Tax system in America is the foundation of every politicians power. If you think the boys and girls on the Hill are going to vote away their number one tool for wielding influence then you must believe that Obama will admit he was born in Kenya.

Posted on January 19, 2011 at 9:53pmSorry. that damn thing is ugly. I’m in New Jersey and i know of breeders around here. It’s all about creating some Faux pedigree crap to overprice them and sell them. They get a tax break. But it’s just another scam. It’s like a dog breeder i know that breeds cute dogs and sells the puppies but they neuter them so nobody else can sell puppies. That means they are practically claiming copyright on the breed. i think it’s sick actually. But it’s not like they care about the animals, they are just another scam to make money. Just like these butt ugly things.

Posted on January 20, 2011 at 10:51amV-Forge, you have absolutely NO IDEA what you’re talking about. I am an alpaca breeder. One of our goals is to build a North American (mostly USA) herd large enough to sustain the high demand for luxury alpaca fiber in the clothing industry. One of the goals of our farm is to promote MADE IN THE USA alpaca products. Alpacas are classified under the Federal Farm Act as livestock in all 50 states. As livestock breeders, we get no more tax advantages than any other livestock breeder (sheep, cattle, swine, etc.). Stossel asked the National Alpaca Owners and Breeder Association for all the info they could give him prior to putting his piece together (and they obliged him) but in the end he chose not to use ANY of it and, instead, used alpaca breeders to try and make his little hit piece about what HE thinks people raise alpacas for, i.e., unfair tax breaks. He doesn’t care to understand the resurgence in small “mini” mills to process the fiber and the resulting addition to our economy they are. He doesn’t care that alpacas are some of the most “earth friendly” livestock you can raise. None of that matters to him, just trying to get people worked up about what is UNINFORMED opinion is about what someone does or doesn’t pay in taxes.
Stossel and ignorant people like you really shouldn’t shoot your mouths off about things that you know absolutely nothing about. Merely having SEEN an alpaca does NOT qualify you to discuss the alpaca livestock industry or the North American alpaca fiber and clothing industry.

Posted on January 20, 2011 at 4:45pmSo Jasper, WHY do you need a big tax break? If the industry is so profitable, it should be easy to find investors.

We need to stop these silly Government inteventions into markets. It is leading to bloated government and unfathomable debt.
