Melee Breaks Out Between Wall Street Protesters and NYPD

Apparently, things are not going well for some of the Occupy Wall Street protesters.

According to Business Insider, there have been multiple tweets claiming that Wednesday evening’s protests produced “several arrests.” And now there is a video that seems to indicate a rising tension between the protesters and the NYPD.

At this moment, it is unclear exactly where this video was shot.

Update: A TV crew for FOX 5 in New York captured the moments leading up to the altercation.

FOX reports:

In the evening, crowds surged past barriers and NYPD officers moved in to contain the protesters. By many accounts, mayhem broke out.

Officers, many wearing white [shirts] indicating supervisor rank, swatted protesters with batons and sprayed them with mace, video from the scene showed

Cops appeared to arrest dozens if not hundreds of protesters, but the final tally was not known.

I think to a degree the police are kinda playing a game here as well. Normally in these situations the police would be in full riot gear. I see none!!! Why? No eye protection even! Just uniformed cops with billy clubs. I guess they think that keeping this lower profile makes them seem less of a threat to those protesters and thus not uping the fear factor and encouraging the masses to throw things at cops where they can actually see them as human beings and not indestructable robots. I might be onto something here.

We desperately need a Tea Party counter rally. We need a peaceful, organized, coherent rally in support of personal responsibilty – full of signs about working 3 jobs and taking no hand-outs, paying back $60,000 loans on our own, signs saying “I’m entitled to the right to live and try – that’s all I need – no handouts wanted”, and “whiners Occpying Wall Street need not apply”. We cannot let these entitlement mentality wimps rule the dialogue or they really will become a Tea Party – they will eventually direct the conversation like the real Tea Party did.

Please remind me why Cops are portrayed at the “bad” guys? Remind me why teachers have far better benefits than cops? Remind me how it is that teachers are pretty much guaranteed their job regardless of their performance while cops have to constantly worry about getting sued for PROTECTING THEMSELVES during instances like this, from thugs like these? Everyone should say a prayer for our Law Enforcement as the left continues to call for violent protests and occupation. You know, the left who proclaim to be peace lovers while stopping world hunger and saving the whales (not to be confused with abortion and killing babies) and anti-war and anti violence-LMFAO!

You are right–the Marxist in Chief and those pulling his strings are orchestrating this thing all the way, hoping to provoke some kind of violent backlash against these losers that they can use as an excuse to declare martial law.

Did you SEE that creepy video where they repeated everything Francis Pliven said like a bunch of mindless drones? By now you’ve seen the thousands of brave students, workers and the unemployed occupying Wall Street. But did you know that as of yesterday, there are over 300 solidarity “occupy events” happening across the country and around the clock? In Philadelphia, 1,000+ individuals took to City Hall on Tuesday night.
In Washington, D.C., people have camped out in McPherson Square, symbolically located on K Street, since last week.
In L.A., citizens have spent six straight days and nights outside City Hall protesting against income inequality and joblessness.
The crowds and peaceful demonstrations will only get larger and louder as more Americans find the courage to stand up and demand Wall Street, CEOs and millionaires pay their fair share to create good jobs now.
This is the moment that determines whether this movement succeeds or falls flat. Will you pledge to help the movement spread by visiting an Occupy event in Phoenix? You can sign up and find a comprehensive list of events here:

I wonder how much each of these “spontaneous protesters” are being paid by Soros entities to protest? Just curious, because this is not spontaneous, nor is it a grass roots movement of any kind. As Mr. Beck articulated some months ago, this is part and parcel of the Obamafuerher’s (my term for our feckless leader) re-election campaign. Looks like he really wants to have “civil unrest” severe enough in this country so he can push Congress to suspend the national elections. Like his Marxist pal-Hugo Chavez, Obamafuerher loves his crises, even ones his puppet-masters have orchestrated.

Possibly in his mind, he thinks the more chaos and anarchial behavior the better. It will help promote his agenda of exerting unconstitutional power and his socialist agenda over and on the people.

Agree. It looks like these radicals and labor unions want to spread these so called riots across the US. These little riots won’t do so well in some states, especially some of the southern and bible belt states. I think Obama, the Democrats, SEIU, radicals, communists, socialists and unions are using this as an excuse to declare marital law and put off or cancel elections. It may have a different consequence of tossing them all out of office, fired from jobs if any of them work, jail time, and in the case of labor unions, voter disgust. This may translate to severely cutting pay and benefits by voters. Guess we will see what happens.

Why don’t we find a state with vast wilderness where the federal government owns significant acreage and just give these people a piece of that land. They can knit their own clothes and sleeping bags, they can grow their own food and their own pot, but they will have to walk there. So we make sure it’s a western state: Montana, Idaho, a lot of open air out there, a lot of federal land. These people want to live as far away from capitalism as possible, fine, give them the land, they can go knit and sew, do whatever they want to do out there, but of course they can’t use the airlines, they can’t drive cars. I seem to remember Glenn Beck predicting this was coming to the US well over a year ago. This is the “change” Obama promised; the “fundamental transformation of America.” Obama knew he couldn’t fix the economy when he got elected, and I doubt he intended to. The bad economy didn’t represent a challenge to overcome, it represents an opportunity to implement his ideology (“never let a crisis go to waste”). It is now clear why he hired all the leftist czars and their lackeys- Van Jones, Anita Dunn, John Holdren, etc etc. It was to foment and implement an economic civil war, stir up class envy, pit Americans against one another, and tear down the capitalist system, the hatred of which Obama grew up marinating in. Obama’s record is dismal as President. He cannot run on it and win. But I don’t think that matters to him. How else to explain his aloof demeanor and staying the course in the face of epic failure? No, his purpose is to create what has been created and is growing- an army of spoiled and disaffected mostly white, mostly middle class, public-school educated economic illiterates who have had everything in life handed to them by others who worked for it, or who are certain the ‘collective’ owes them a living. And now, the usual suspects are jumping on the bandwagon- unions, leftists/statist politicians, Hollywood types, etc. Look for this movement to grow ever larger as more people become cinvinced that ‘the rich’ are the reason for their unhapiness and lack of

By it’s very nature this “protest” will degenerated into the all too familiar scenes of what we see with monotonous predicability at events like G8 summits. Property destroyed, violent outbursts, multiple arrests. This is the left’s stock in trade, for decades they’ve known nothing else but to agitate and attack to cause unrest. And these lost-children-from-their-mothers’-basements are the product of years of indoctrination from their aging hippy/communist professors. Not Houston, I was at the TEA party rally when the teachers and SEIU were complaining that the rainy day fund should be used to keep them in fat budgets. The SEIU showed up and started pushing people out of their way and the HPD mounted police set them straight in seconds. I watched as a seriously overweight purple shirted balloon-goon had some exchange of words with the HPD and then suddenly the balloon-good found his manners. I have no idea what was said, nor do I care, but whatever was said it had the desired affect.

Besides with Texas being a concealed carry state and most of the people these kinds of thugs would target are strong supporters of concealed carry they know better than to step too far out of line in Texas. Maybe it is time to drag out copies of “The Deadly Tower (TV 1975)” movie and remind people of the stereotype of Texas that was created in that movie!! If you remember, Charles Whitman is student at the University of Texas in Austin. He often suffers from headaches, during which he tends to violence. One night, he kills wife and mother, buys a number of rifles and loads of ammunition and takes them to the top of the tower of the university, where he barricades himself. With his long-range weapons his starts to shoot at everything that moves. Already until the police arrives, there are numerous people wounded or dead.
In the movie, people driving down the streets in Austin, everything from a big old white Callidac convertible to pickup trucks; just stopped their cars on the street, all of them grabbed guns from their cars and started shooting at the sniper in the tower..every car had guns!!
Perhaps it is time to revive that stereotype!! LOL

most everything related to the left is staged- this is no different. how long has this “event” been allowed to continue? what took the left so long? guess it takes a while to test the defenses of their enemy before creating a provocation and filming the consequences. not a very complicated scenario- push the NYPD into a corner, then move the crowd forward- the police reaction is known as “human nature”. the planning by the left in this staged event is clearly seen by the numerous smart phone cameras and the larger camera to produce that front page image for the old media trash papers. brought to you by mayor “no religious leaders at 9/11 memorial”- he sets the rules of engagement for the NYPD. This “event” could have been closed down days ago on grounds of public safety- for a mayor so concerned about what people eat, it’s ok to have people camped out in the city for days. more b/s from the left.

Perhaps you’ve never had a snootful of CS. Speaking for myself, I would prefer to be wet…

Melee? Looked like an everyday arrest to me. I saw no heads cracked open, nothing like that. Of course thats what those “peaceful;” idiots want…They want violence…Sooner or later they will get some real violence and the media will sensationalize it and call it an Arab spring.

“Useful Idiots” for the Marxists to exploit. The crowd has no knowledge of Capitalism. Without Capitalism there are NO government handouts, pensions, etc.

The “Red” leaders will lead these little lemmings over the cliff to their destiny.

They look just like all the Tea Party protests I’ve been to. Peacefull, orderly, clean and respectfull. Well that what they said on the lib media stations.. Several dem senators have already said how proud they were of the protesters… We all know that leftists can’t have protests without some kind of violence and destruction..

Let‘s be kind to them and help them clean up a bit by getting the firehoses out and flushing away some of the ’biological matter’ out of the streets of New York.

Let them waller around in their own filth until it gets cold then soak ‘em good !

This nonsense is suppose to comes to New Orleans today. N.O. is surrounded by Projects. Every now and then the natives get restless and go on a looting spree. Can’t wait to see what happens here. A website that was trying to collect money for the event evidently is coming up short- they keep upping the ante. They ‘re the laughing stock because they’re asking for large sums of money from a bunch of lazy poor dumb a$$es. I should have capitalized on the event by collecting the donations from my own DOR website! Gotta think ahead dammit!

In my opinion, this is no longer news, the 15 minute gig is over. They‘re accomplishing nothing more than increasing the odds of getting arrested which means they’ll have even more difficulty getting jobs in the future. Can‘t wait to see what this crowd does for a living when they are in their 40’s and 50′s. The joke‘s on them and they haven’t even figured it out yet. THEY’LL be the ones paying later! Like anybody’s going to care they slept on Wall Street in 2011 – NOT!

Those protestors should converge on those Nazi Police State thugs, disarm them, arrest them, and bring them to a trial by the people.

      With guillotines.

This is definitely not “Tea Party”. The mob turned to pushing the police line, and that’s seems to be when the action picked up. Can’t make ut what the crowd was chanting.

Did you see how Rush dissected the bias at CNN when it comes to how they treated the Tea Party and how they support the ‘Occupy Wall Street’ protesters.

I think now many of us could have said the same thing as what Rush is stating rightly. Sad to see it go down this way. I really feel it is time to rise up and show the real numbers of people who do not support this madness.

I wonder how Obama’s WED night party went, eh?

I have a no job cousin that buys into this romantic idea of anarchy. I keep track of his postings on FB, though I’ve hidden his stuff from my wall, it’s too insulting to my friends of diverse backgrounds. I keep watch on him, to see where the sheep are grazing. He started off simply posting Ron Paul videos, which I had no problem with, but then, began posting all this weird anti-Jewish stuff! About two weeks ago. Now he’s all into this Occupy stuff. They’ve been led by the nose for months to get them to trawl Wall Street. Of course, my cousin will be borrowing busfare to get to the local Occupy protest. Many of these people are just lost followers. A decade ago, they would’ve have been follwing the Grateful Dead.

Gee 10th, you ever hear of patience. Given a little time the children will all wander home. Temper tantrums always end. No need to advocate murder. Isn’t that just a tad fascistic? But you were just joking right? This is a high stakes chess match with a lot of innocent people involved that don’t know they are being used. Freedom of speech comes with responsibility. I suggest you remember that when advocating the murder of fellow humans.
