Memo Reveals Dept. of Justice Directed to Hire People With ‘Intellectual Disabilities’

Eric Holder’s Department of Justice is, to put it charitably, not without its critics. This story is likely to sharpen their criticisms.

A memo from within the Justice Department’s Civil Rights division obtained by Pajamas Media shows that the Justice Department not only hires, but makes a point of hiring people with so-called “intellectual disabilities,” mental disorders and other problems, some of which could easily be seen to effect one’s competence. Read the first few pages of the memo below:

Department of Justices Civil Rights Division Memos Says to Hire People With Intellectual DisabilitiesDepartment of Justices Civil Rights Division Memos Says to Hire People With Intellectual DisabilitiesDepartment of Justices Civil Rights Division Memos Says to Hire People With Intellectual DisabilitiesMediaite sums up the memo this way:

The directive by Assistant Attorney General Tom Perez, dated May 31, 2012, authorizes Justice Department officials to recruit those who self-identify as suffering from a psychiatric disorder or intellectual disability.

PJ Media notes that the directive allows DoJ officials to hire those disabled recruitment targets through “non-competitive” appointment. That is, they don’t have to compete with applicants who do not suffer with disabilities.

It should be noted that this memo only applies to the Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department. In other words, if you want something done by, say, the International Corruption division, you’re less likely to see one of these hires.

However, as luck would have it, the Civil Rights Division is precisely the one that tends to have the Department’s critics hopping mad. For instance, the Civil Rights Division is the division that ignored the case of the New Black Panther Party’s (NBPP) voter intimidation, and that is in the process of suing over Voter ID. Given these and other rather high profile controversial cases, critics are sure to detect more than a little irony in the Justice Department’s apparent practice of affirmative action for the mentally disabled.

IT SHOULD ALWAYS BE HIRE THE BEST PERSON FOR THE JOB ONLY. Screw this mandatory hire and promotion BS. I was once, and a friend of mine twice turned down for a promotion because of this BS. Mike Savage is covering this now. Once they are hired they are virtually impossible to get rid of. Say you have an important case & you have to give them work. They screw it up &the court throws out the prosecution case over procedural errors. So can we reverse bad law then? No!

Suppose you don;t put these people on a case. Now you have a shortage of manpower/womanpower. You can only bring a limited number of cases. So can we reverse bad law then? No!

The electoral map is looking bad, so Obama & company are practicing scorched earth tactics or burning the fields & poisoning the wells.

We need to vote ion election day & turn out the Democrats. then every succeeding election we need to turnout people who become RINOs or sell out the people.

      3 things from this memo
1 – It proves Holder is one of those with mental disabilities hired under this initiative.

2 – Is this not reverse job discrimination to have a target to hire at obviously the exclusion of other candidates?

3 – Would those being looked over for these jobs be able to file a disabilities lawsuit since they had “abilities” that were actually disabilities?

Well…I basically do not like ANYTHING that Eric Holder has done since he arrived at the Justice Department, but perhaps this was done like many entities do to hire a specially talented individual for a specific job where his skill set was desperately needed.
As a for instance I will use the example of a special friend of mine. If you were to meet him you would observe a complete social nerd who has difficulty speaking and getting around and looks like one of those autistic kids grown up. The real story behind my friend I discovered is that he is the resident computer programming genius of one of the largest medical organizations in the United States earning well over a six figure income. People that work there tell me he is indispensable to the technical operations of the hospital group..

Wrongo. The intellectually/developmentally disabled population (by precedent) are one of the first demographic groups (along with the mentally ill) to be deemed least worthy of funding and subject to the most draconian of health care cuts. But since most of the money thrown at this population is subject to a trickle down model (go figure), any such cuts to I/DD services will hurt a lot of bureaucrats and parasitic managed care monitoring agencies w/lots o’ folks making six figure salaries. Nothing encourages quality of care more than throwing huge sums of money at administrators while limiting services to the target population and paying caregivers minimum wage.

The folks in charge of such decisions will likely be found in the Dept. of Health and Human Services and they will approach the matter of health care with a cost-benefit approach.

This little partisan swipe by The Blaze (w/the registered Rs jumping on the bandwagon) is in bad taste. I’m stepping off the reservation on this one. Any person who believes the I/DD population should be used in this type of political sparring is a grade A POS.

Um… to give you the benefit of the doubt, you may not actually realize folks with intellectual disabilities (i.e., low IQ scores and related cognitive defecits) AREN’T generally the same grifters trying to find the magic label to qualify for SSDI.
Folks with I/DD diagnoses are generally born with their condition (related to such labels as Down’s syndrome or Cerebral Palsy) or have been subjected to some form of (head) trauma before the age of 18 years. But feel free to show your professed knowledge by using the mentally retarded (i.e., I/DD) population to make sport of your partisan opposites. Double down and keep that ol‘ shovel flyin’ while you dig yourself in deeper. Maybe later we could go find some Democrats and shoot their cats or kick their dogs. Got any old-style antifreeze?

Much like the elderly, yes? So which annoyance do you propose we rid ourselves of first? Are you SURE you’re not a hardcore progressive/socialist?

If you‘re lamenting the greed in any state’s I/DD program, I’m with you. Way too many families are allowed to turn a diagnosed member into a cottage industry. I see that garbage and it infuriates me. However, much of the problem with the care of the I/DD population (surprise) begins and ends with administraton and implementation.

You can hold whatever belief you want and defend as you see fit, but you seem to be flirting with the euthanasia/eugenics argument(s). How very progressive.

The I/DD population isn’t the problem; it’s the stewards of the funding.
What is your solution… and how “final” is it? And the new poster child for shameless pandering (as far as mental health is concerned) is the great American junky. WHY are we throwing buckets of money at these clowns? Oh, I forget… it’s the pharmaceutical companies who overwhelmingly graced us with this problem… but keep up that marijuana propaganda! Gee, so my tax dollars should be used to “cure” (what BS) an ill created by corporations invested in better living thru chemicals? Sure! Throw tax dollars at the great American junky… to hell with those folks who were born with their disabilities thru no fault of their own. Ri-damn-diculous.

Making fun of people who present with their observable and measurable disabilities thru no fault of their own does not set well with me. It seems like the most chicken**** form of bullying. TSA must have received the same memo. That would explain why I was “not qualified” for any of their positions. Hmmm Undergrad from a prestigious Texas private religious university, quality resume – but don’t qualify. Just thinking outloud.

Ahhhh……what a clever little plan. It makes ya wonder what else is going on behind the scenes. So they are hiring people with disabilities that cannot be fired with a new administration. If they do, the person will sue the government. The plan to destroy America survives even if 0bama loses.

Obama and his team of ungodly have caused so much damage it would take years to fix the mess America has become since he took office.

      Hi MOM,

Agreed! I am actually more afraid of what they are doing that we don’t know about. I feared it was much that would not be able to be undone. This is merely a small sampling of it. I honestly don’t see how the country will ever be able to survive the last four years. I keep saying…..it’s really only a matter of how fast we go off the cliff.

If this had been a skit on Saturday Night Live, I would be rolling on the floor. Since is in fact the truth, I am in the pit of dispair. But it does explain much of what is happening at the DOJ. What i want to know is what is Eric Holder’s disablity and was he given this post because of said disablity? Mentally disabled, yup that’s it.

According to the memo, they have to at least be qualified for an interview (with or without the disability). Does that mean much? Isn’t someone “qualified for an interview” if they just know the right person?

Most any entity with a bit of a conscience will give intellectually/developmentally disabled folks a chance with janitorial duties or such activities as shredding papers. The sly little swipe here is this directive accounts for the general climate of the DOJ. Cute… but not accurate.
An argument could be made The Blaze is being a little too cute for its own good. Hell, it’s no secret all of the insanity engaged in by the DOJ is ideologically motivated. No reason to throw the intellectually/developmentally disabled into the same cesspool as partisans.

I believe an opening in the Obama campaign may be ready for you. It is only necessary for you to say “The Republicans do (fill in the blank)”, and you’ve done your job! Who knows…, perhaps you can get the VP slot.

Thats right, the Civil Rights Division is the see nothing, hear nothing, say nothing office starting with the New Black Panthers. Holder wanted a division that he could completely control. I wonder if the same memo affected hiring at the White House and the Obama Campaign…..just asking the question!?
