Merging Radicals? Fox Piven, Danny Glover, & Occupiers To ‘Celebrate’ Cop-Killer’s Birthday

Did you get a “Save The Date” card about April 24th’s special birthday celebration for convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal? (I did not receive one either, but this was sent my way.)
If you are not familiar with Mumia’s case, he is the former Black Panther who was convicted of murdering a police office in Philadelphia on December 9, 1981. Although he was given the death penalty, endless appeals have kept Abu-Jamal alive on death row. Last December, a deal was struck to end the appeals process and Mumia Abu-Jamal’s sentence was changed to life without parole.
That sentencing change has not stopped the movement that wants Mumia’s conviction overturned and they have scheduled an event to continue their protest.
Some of the “celebrities” already confirmed for the event, which is being called “Occupy the Justice Dept”:

- Frances Fox-Piven
- Professor Cornel West
- Rapper M-1 of Dead Prez
What do these folks want? Rapper M-1 delivers the list of their seven demands:
In case you didn’t want to spend the time watching the video, here are the seven demands.
- Release Mumia Abu-Jamal
- End Mass Incarceration
- Jobs, Education, & Healthcare… not Jails
- End Solitary Confinement and end torture
- End The Racist Death Penalty
- Hands off the Immigrants…
- Free All Political Prisoners
The invite is sure to let “party” attendees know what is expected of them:
“We are asking individuals to get arrested as an act of civil disobedience.”
They are even asking people to “pledge” their support.
On April 24, consider joining a group of renowned citizens in an act of civil disobedience, among them Danny Glover, Frances Fox Piven, Norman Finkelstein, and M1 of Dead Prez. Your pledge to engage in an act of civil disobedience will be critical to reaching our goals of enlisting the participation of other activists and ensuring news coverage of the case and of our broader demands. If you cannot commit to civil disobedience, you can pledge to be at the demonstration.
The Blaze will be covering the event, but we have no plans to get arrested along with M-1 and Professor Cornel West.

When they sentence someone to death they walk them into a room where a firing squad, often just one officer, dispatches them without fanfare. Then, to make their point, they send the family of the deceased a bill for the ammo used. If the US were to implement something like this the crime rate would drop considerably!

I read Horowitz’s book years ago and it was frightening then and even more terrifying now since know what these people are capable of.
However, I think this demonstration will clearly show how far left many of these people have strayed and what they believe in, as if we don’t already know. There was one passage in Radical Son that I found very enlightening. David and his family were marching for some cause and the crowd on the sidelines were booing them. I believe at that point David was wondering why these people booing them didn’t realize that the Communists were doing this for THEM. And I suspect Piven and Co. also are delusional enough to think their actions are being done on behalf of the “masses”.
