Mexican Gov’t Drone Crashes in TX, Shrouded in Mystery

The Department of Homeland Security has confirmed that a Mexican government drone crashed in El Paso, TX, but the device was returned to the Mexican government before the National Transportation Safety Board could examine it. And as government officials are giving few details, many are wondering why such a device was patrolling U.S. airspace.

“We are collecting data about the crash. We don’t have the aircraft because it was returned to its owner,” Keith Holloway, spokesman for the National Transportation Safety Board, told the El Paso Times.

“I was told that it crashed in somebody’s backyard, and that no one was injured. I was paged at 6:28 p.m. on Tuesday, so it happened shortly before that,” El Paso police Detective Mike Baranyay told the paper. “We were told it was not a police matter.”

The drone crashed on Tuesday and, depending on the exact location (which authorities aren’t releasing), could have been a third to a half mile inside the U.S border.

From the El Paso Times:

Though the U.S. is known to use drones to patrol the border, this is thought to be the first time a Mexican drone has been reported operating at the border.

The drone crashed Tuesday on Craddock Avenue, near the intersection with Yarbrough Drive.

Holloway said the aircraft that crossed into U.S. airspace is a mini orbiter unmanned aerial vehicle developed by the Aeronautics Defense System.

According to the developer’s website, the aircraft is designed for use in military and Homeland Security missions. It can be used for reconnaissance missions, low-intensity conflicts and urban warfare.

“We responded to a concerned citizen’s call and recovered a small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), which belonged to the Government of Mexico (GOM),” said Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Jenny L. Burke in a statement.

“We worked collaboratively with the GOM and other U.S. federal agencies to coordinate the return of the UAV to (Mexico).”

Yet according to the Times, neither Department of Homeland Security or U.S. Border Patrol officials would say why the drone was returned to Mexico before investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board could inspect it.

“It is an ongoing investigation,” a border patrol agent told the Times.

That doesn’t answer the slew of questions swirling around the case. Gawker asks what is arguably the most important one:

Okay, well, breaking news: Our government is sketchy as hell. But I still want to know what the drone was doing! Was it spying on… El Paso? Of all places?

I would agree that the drone is not a police issue.

It is a national defense issue.

You have a foreign nation violating our sovereign airspace, and the reaction we have from our administration is to return the offending aircraft and turn a blind eye to everything else…while giving sketchy and non-informative answers to the American people.

The last election was only a start. Time to finish the job and get rid of incumbents.

Anybody ever wonder if the reason we don’t stop the drug cartels (when we obliterated the 3rd largest land army on the planet in under a month during the first Iraq war) is because our government is getting a cut of the profits? We can put a remote controlled car on Mars, but we can’t build a wall???? The ancient Chinese could build a friggin’ wall…..we can’t? We‘ll go to war in the middle east to protect other people’s kids from Sadaam, but we won’t go to war with Mexico to protect our own kids from addiction-pushers. How does that make sense? Follow the money. It usually brings you to the answer.

Round up the illegals. They could make up a helluva chain gang with which to build a wall. Put Sheriff Joe in charge. Free labor — all it would cost would be to feed them (and we’re doing that already) and for the materials. When the wall is finished, send them back.

Not an act of war. It more than likely lost signal while tracking cartel movement in Juarez. Once a drone loses that signal it will glide on the path that it was traveling on prior to signal loss. If it was heading north, then it will glide for a few miles to the north. THEY DO NOT IMMEDIATELY FALL TO THE EARTH.

I really think the house is the only cabinet I’d allow to stay where they are if it were up to me… Isn’t there something in the constitution about “no confidence” and removing the current administration from office in extreme cases… I think this qualifies at this point… Anyone??? We need to do this now people… I’m looking into how this can be started legally per the constitution… Can’t the military or an outside party investigate this administration somehow??? Can we appoint Arapio to do it??? LOL…!!! …and if they find they are not acting according to the supreme law of the land (Constitution) then can’t they send these people home (or to jail) and we can elect new leaders… I’m NOT suggesting a revolution by force… GOD I HOPE IT DOES NOT come to that…!!! I will die for my country if necessary (the country I know… not what I’m seeing now) as I vowed to do when I joined the military… Just because I’m out now does not mean my vow is not still in place to uphold the constitution… Long live the Republic. We keep our heads cool. Then we realize that drones are radio controlled. They lose signal sometimes and glide on the same path they were following prior to losing signal. Since Juarez is connected to El Paso, and is turning into the Murder Capital of the World. We can then assume that the Mexican Govt is patrolling for Cartel movement around the City of Juarez. The drone lost signal flying north and simply glided onto US Soil. Drone was then returned to Mexican Govt so they can get it back up in the sky to watch said Cartels. Its not a conspiracy, and the Mexicans are not going to get you in your sleep.

And I guess I should believe her like when the fed’s say that Area 51 is a myth, and that the moon landings never happened? Or like Baghdad Bob saying “There are no american tanks in Baghdad!” while they are passing down the street just a few blocks away?

Not being sarcastit to you MikeInIdaho, just at the administration. I will never trust anything they have to say about the border period.

They care nothing for us in AZ, and want one more excuse for Big Sister to crack down harder and harder upon us.

I think we should post her picture on the border as a deterrent. One of those big fathead pic’s with her all puckered up with big red lips, I’d run like hell………..

coming to a town near you, ask your self how hard would it be
for the cia, tsa,gsa or whatever sa to have agents in India or China to launch drones
against Patriots in America and use Mexico as a base, then we would blame
the Mexicans and start a race war ????

Maybe the Mexican Army is going to invade us. By the time Barry would respond, they could burn the White House, like the British did in 1814.

Napolitano is a disgrace and so is the rest of that BHO Clown crew! They do not want the border secure it is so clear and evident. I haven’t been able to figure it out but they are not enforcing our laws…oh wait I know why they need all those illegals to come in for all those votes they are going to create through back door amnesty with that DREAM Act!

Stay vigilant and we must bring the fight to corrupt politicians, media and special interests front door through http://www.savingtherepublic.com

GOM was trying to investigate the death of one of our border patrol agents. They just got lost. They should have taken a left at New Mexico not a right.

C’mon, is Mexico ever authorized to do anything. I’m wondering how they could ever build a drone to begin with. It must have come from us.

It is more secure…..secure to let more illegals into this country now. Now illegals have secure, safe paths to follow to sneak into this country.

Why a Mexican drone in US airspace. Ours can not be armed theirs can. That is the reason they got it back across the border before any one could inspect it. Training mission gone awry? I had heard that this cross border training was going on but no one could confirm it. Do not believe what the Gov’t says. They lie.

DONT FALL FOR THIS So the UAV was scooped up and given back to Mexico post haste and WE ARE BEING told it was made by Aeroanutics Defense System, a company in Israel. Are they setting up Israel for something ? Why the rush to return it ? Did we give it to Mexico ? If so, how many have we given them?

What is to keep terrorists from buying one of these drones and using it to fly a nuke into the Us for use against a major city? Yes as cxorrupt as the Gov’t is in Mexico they could buy one. If not just get a cartel to steal one. They can fly low level under the radar and are easily hidden. Even if it was detected on radar they could have the contents and gone before any one was dispatched to check it out. For that matter they could load the drone on a truck and radio control it when ready to the target of their choice. What is it going to take to make this Gov’t close the border and enforce the law. They do not bat an eye at spending billions to patrol borders in Europe.

Most people don’t know this, But Fort Bliss, a US Army base resides just west of El Paso TX. The Base actually resides in both Texas and New Mexico and has been known to used for counter drug operations as well as border security. The Mexican Gov’t was likely spying on the US Military and not the City of El Paso.
