Mexican Mayors Blame Increased Border Violence on… the U.S.?

A coalition of mayors from four northern Mexican cities are asking U.S. authorities to stem the deportation of illegal immigrants convicted of serious crimes on the American side of the border.
San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders joined the mayors of Tijunana, Ciudad Juarez, Nogales and Nuevo Laredo last week to discuss cross-border issues. Among them, the Mexcian mayors complained that America’s deportation of convicted criminal illegal immigrants back to the Mexican border is contributing to the recent rise in violent crimes, including kidnapping and other crimes related to the drug trade.
According to Jose Reyes Ferriz, mayor of Ciudad Juarez, of the 80,000 people deported to his town over the past three years, 28,000 had U.S. criminal records, including 7,000 who had served prison time for rape and 2,000 convicted of murder. Reyes claims that the large number of criminal deportees have contributed to the violence in his town — a town that has reported more than 2,200 homicides so far this year.
Instead of busing these criminals to the border, the Mexican mayors are encouraging U.S. authorities to fly the deportees by plane to central Mexico. But, according to Fox News, critics on the American side of the border say the Mexican lawmakers are simply trying to “pass the buck” to the U.S., and that the Mexicans should take responsibility for their criminals, who are putting both Mexican and American lives in danger.

Posted on September 29, 2010 at 11:46pmI don’t think we are deporting enough illegals. They should call out the Mexican troops and take measures to fly them to central Mexico themselves. It is a shame that we even let them get across the boarder to begin with. If we secured our bourders then the illegals would not come and stay wherever they are at in Mexico. So our only fault in this situation is not securing our own boarders so that these rapists can come over here to commit crimes to begin with.

Posted on September 29, 2010 at 11:24pmSorry, guys, I want to know more. Apparently, the mayors believe that flying them to Central Mexico instead of releasing these deportees at the border will make a difference. I’d like to know why they think this. And if their reasoning is plausible, then, why not try depositing the deportees into Central Mexico instead of at the border?

I suppose they have a point. It would be much nicer of us to keep the trash from Mexico here and send the law abiding people back. Or we can do as they suggest and bend over backwards to fly them (first class would be nice) to central Mexico. After all we wouldn’t want to offend anyone; would we?
Wow………..remember when we had Presidents who actually protected us?
Most of you probably are to young to recall when President Kennedy told the Russians who were taking missile warheads to Cuba to turn there ships around by an appointed time of suffer grave consequences. Guess what? They turned around and went back home.
But we have passed the violent stage of our being the most feared country in the world…………

Posted on September 29, 2010 at 10:40pmLawlessness and a lack of respect for authority are a terrible thing. Taken to the extreme you get chaos and corruption on a grand scale. Mexico should be pitied and prayed over. That being said, the lawless drug dealers and desperate people swarming our borders need to be stopped. If we do not stem the tide they will bring their chaos here (Phoenix has the highest kidnap rate per person in the country now). Lawful immigration is welcome. It is time the US government did its job for its citizenry and secured the border.

Nah, nah, we should drop those illegals into Mexico from ten-thousand feet up, sans parachutes. Chances are good those illegals will not again cross our border.
I have a hunch this would discourage illegals from entering our nation.
We currently provide rich incentives for illegals to come to America. We only need to remove those incentives and this problem will solve itself.

EXACTLY. Enforce the laws we ALREADY have, and STOP giving our $$ away that lures them in here in the first place. Let’s see…they are ALL honest, hardworking people looking for a better way of life when they come to America, but are returned as undesirable, hardened criminals. Obviously America is the problem, right? And once here, they become our problem and we should keep them?
How about we enforce our immigration laws and do the criminal checks before they get here…the end result would be the same (criminals piling up on their side of the border), but we would avoid the nasty part in the middle: the criminal activity on US soil between illegal immigration and legal deportation.

But what to do with the violent ones that have been convicted of crimes here in the U.S.?
I’m actually okay with the idea of flying those to the southern most prison in Mexico. In effect they would be put at the back of the line travel wise.
But if we do that, how long until the non-violent “sentence” gets extended to months or years of service? In effect providing the Federal Government a ready made slave labor force that would eventually squash private enterprise? I believe this is why the chain gangs were ended.

Posted on September 30, 2010 at 8:01amThree simple words… BUILD the FENCE!!
If our federal government would simply perform one of its most basic duties in protecting the safety and security of the American people during this current “War on Terror,” our borders would be sealed, all of our immigration laws would be enforced, E-Verify would be mandated nationwide and such things as “Sanctuary Cities” would be banned.
Not only would these simple common sense steps protect the physical and economic safety of the American people, but such law and order would lower the number of criminal illegal aliens being deported and possibly the number of never-ending complaints from south of our border…
If we can pay for a fence along Mexico’s southern border, why can’t we build a fence along our southern border? Why? Because open borders is the name of the game for our members of Congress. Free trade, cheap labor and all of that… Great for our big corporations and unions, not to mention campaign contributions for our political “representatives,” not so great for the rest of us…
