Mich. and Ohio Contradict Santorum‘s Claim That He’s ‘Won Every State in the Midwest’

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum has been apparently telling people in Missouri that he’s “won every state in the Midwest.”
“If you look at the Midwest, all of the Midwest is one color. It’s our color. We’ve won every state in the Midwest. Let’s keep that going in the state of Illinois, obviously we need to keep that going here with the delegate selection here in Missouri,” Santorum said during a speech in Hazelwood.
Mitt Romney won the Republican primary contests in Ohio and Michigan, states commonly referred to be in the Midwest, earlier this month and at the end of February.
The National Journal notes that Romney spokesman Andrea Saul quickly issued a statement after the flub, saying “As usual, Senator Santorum has no regard for the facts. Mitt Romney beat him in both Michigan and Ohio because of his strong, pro-jobs message – and despite Senator Santorum’s desperate attempt to get Obama supporters to throw the primary his way.”
Santorum’s comment could have been derived from a narrative he’s promoted on the campaign trail of late, that his delegate race with Romney is closer than the current delegate math estimates suggest.
CBS News reports that Santorum told a crowd Saturday in Ballwin, Missouri, that he has got some “new delegate math” that shows “this race is a lot different than what the consensus is.”
“We’re looking at the rules, we’re looking at how things are stacking up, and we’re in much better shape in these caucuses and some of these apportioned states or winner-take-all states, which in fact are not winner-take-all states,” Santorum said. “We’re in this fight. We’re going to be in it till the end. We’re going to win.”
Missouri Republicans on Saturday began selecting delegates to the national convention, a process that the National Journal notes won’t become final, with its 52 delegates assigned to certain candidates, until early June. The nearby Midwestern state of Illinois will hold its critical GOP primary Tuesday.

Posted on March 18, 2012 at 11:02amI don’t consider Michigan and Ohio in the “Midwest.” They don’t border the Mississippi river or a state that is the Gateway to the West. Ohio is definitely eastern, and I am close to calling Michigan the Middle East of the United States.

Posted on March 18, 2012 at 10:07amMitt Romney is awkward and a bit stiff… precisely because he is not some smooth talking experienced liar… I mean washington insider, lobbyist, historian, ear marker… and he is also NOT the establishment guy. He is however the guy who is using the establishment as a strategy to win the white house…where, if he is true to his past. He will not take a paycheck, he will not have sex with interns or lie, or do 121 fundraiser, or play 100 rounds of golf. BUT HE WILL cut waste, eliminate red tape, create confidence in the business sector… which will help to create jobs… and he will work to win wars…not just be in them. Oh and he won’t give himself a raise…or take vacations in separate jets. This man knows how to work 80-120 hours a week…he’s done it his whole life. Which is why he is successful.
Furthermore… I am voting for him because of Romney Care…not in spite of it. Because IF every state had been pro-actively working to solve the very broken health care system and issues in their own states(As the constitution allows and even directs) if they had all been doing this then the FED would have no reason to even get involved. Let me be very clear here… I’m not for a mandate…but I am for the constitution and states rights. When Obama care is repealed… we will still have a very broken and expensive medical system… each state will then need to craft a solution. So far only one has attempted this in an effort to do so. He LEADS

Posted on March 18, 2012 at 8:16amWe need to remind ourselves that the key battle in the primary is to wrestle control of the party from the establishment. I define the establishment as those washingtom elites who have from the beginning come out in support of Romney. Thus anyone but Romney should be our goal. Supporters of Newt, Santorum and Paul at some point need to look at the polls and start voting with that end in mind. I really like Paul’s message and it is where we need to be ultimately, However voting for him this time around is not going to change the elites grip on the party.
We are now at a tactical phase of the primary.

Now here are the ‘real’ facts…as we ‘real’ conservatives see them!.
Michigan
NWO Romney 41.1% 409,899
Santorum 37.9% 377,521
A DIFFERENCE OF 32,378 VOTES!
Ohio…
NWO Romney 37.9% 456,513
Santorum 37.1% 446,225
A difference of only 10,288 votes.
The fact is that the only ‘real’ conservative in this race…Rick Santorum came out a winner in both those states WITHOUT…millions of NWO/Trump money and/or big establishment Repuglican endorsements. He did it with ‘real’ conservatives in all parties who are voting their convictions in 2012…and not who we are told to vote for!

In a world still reeling from the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, people across the globe were assured that they could gather in safety to celebrate the highest qualities of the human family. Mitt Romney’s leadership had turned the $400 million deficit into a $100 million surplus. It was a spectacular turnaround.
Report Post »Sen. Santorum’s suggestion that only a “federal bailout” made all this possible is flatly wrong. We looked to the federal government only to assist with security and necessary infrastructure. Throughout, Mitt did the right thing, and he did it extraordinarily well.
After the Olympic Games had concluded, Mitt Romney returned to Massachusetts where he was elected governor. His state had a $3 billion deficit and the economy needed a turnaround. With the same discipline he used in business and the Olympics, at the end of four years he turned it into a $2 billion rainy-day fund. The bottom line is this:
The profile of the person we were looking for to rescue the Olympics matches almost perfectly what United States needs in our next president. We need a leader who can return us to fiscal responsibility, discern between those things that are needs and wants, and inspire a demoralized people to believe again. Mitt Romney is a leader who can do those things, and more

Report Post »Fitting the profileMike Leavitt
Guest columnist Contrary to what Rick Santorum says, Mitt Romney was responsible for turning around the 2002 Winter Olympics, writes Mike Leavitt. Thanks to some charges leveled by former Sen. Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney’s stewardship of the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games has become the subject of a curious controversy. Among other things, Santorum has suggested that Mitt succeeded thanks only to a “federal bailout.” As I was governor of Utah at the time, I’m in a unique position to set the record straight.
Here are the facts: Four years before the Games were to begin, they got caught up in a scandal. Sponsors began to withdraw and the budget of the Games was nearly $400 million over anticipated expenditures. A new leader was needed. Utah was at risk financially and I personally engaged in the search for the right person. I found Mitt Romney, who had a distinguished career in business, helping to start new companies and turn around failing ones. Within weeks of his arrival, Mitt had laid out a revitalized vision for the Games. Mitt assembled a new team to bring the budget under control. I repeatedly heard him explain that if the budget was to be balanced, every spending request had to be divided into needs and wants. He called on the people of Utah to volunteer to close the gap. I’ll never forget the ad he placed in Utah papers. It read:
