MI Assistant AG Takes Heat for Anti-Gay Blog

(AP) — An assistant attorney general is using his personal blog to target the openly gay leader of the University of Michigan’s student assembly.

Andrew Shirvell claims he has the right to say whatever he wants outside work, including calling 21-year-old Chris Armstrong a racist with a “radical homosexual agenda.”

It’s raising questions about how far a civil servant can go — and if it should affect his job.

Attorney General Mike Cox said Thursday the posts are “distasteful” but Shirvell has First Amendments rights.

But Cox is troubled that the 30-year-old lawyer was outside Armstrong’s off-campus house in Ann Arbor at 1:30 a.m. last month, and videotaped police breaking up a party. Cox says he plans to investigate.

Shirvell didn’t respond to phone and e-mail messages.

Being gay is a choice, not something that happens at birth. I’m tired of the gay agenda being pushed down my throat. **** and dikes shouldn’t have anymore rights than any other American. If they want to hump each other so be it, but keep it in the closet, I’m tired of hearing about it.

I agree they should not have anymore rights, but THEY SHOULD HAVE THE SAME AS EVERYONE ELSE.Didn’t you hear the song Jesus loves the little children all the children of the world. We are his children and he is our daddy. So people need to leave it to Jesus to be the judge, because there is none other worthy to do it.

True-life *********, HOMOSEXUAL Anderson Cooper thinks it‘s ’personal’ when a “blogger” expresses uncomfortable opinions based on obvious FACTS?

Gee, Andy wasn’t it “personal” when you labelled Americans “teabaggers”? It’s personal when you smear a group with HOMOSEXUAL Antics terminology, right?

Chris Armstrong’s ANTI-CHRISTIAN and PRO-ABORTION opinions are based on the fact the he is a HOMOSEXUAL…are we going to pretend otherswise?

I don’t have to agree with someones lifestyle. I do have the right to speak freely that I don’t agree. I can also see where allowing the moral fabric of our society slowly being eroded away can lead to things I am certain most would never expect to see in the middle of the day, in the middle of the street anywhere in our country. Someone posted this link on a forum some time ago and I was absolutely freaked out. Not that I didn’t think there were people that had sexual appetites that I neither understood nor wanted to see or know about. But that I never thought that they could be displayed for all to see and proud of it as well. I STRONGLY CAUTION YOU this link has a warning before you proceed onto the pictures of the Folsom Street Fair. I thought, “How bad can it be?” BAD. http://zombietime.com/folsom_sf_2007_part_1/
This isn’t on the news that I have ever seen and if it was I am pretty certain a lot of people would be as shocked as I was. I am sure you can answer for yourself why it isn’t on the news.

Approval of this perverse behavior is being actively promoted in public schools, termed as an alternate lifestyle. This HOMOSEXUAL AGENDA is being funded by local, and in some cases state & Federal Taxes.

Not all gay people have an agenda. Some gay folks just want a opportunity to live the American Dream. What is going on in one’s bedroom is not up to debate that is private (gay or strait).
As far as this particular story, Armstrong has right to his belief and speech. If there is a problem with his work, then I’m sure there are procedures for recourse. What he does outside of working hours is no ones business.

If an atheist calls Christians delusional, less intelligent than atheists, and hate filled then you have someone expressing their opinion which is protected by our first amendment rights. But if a Christian says that someone has a radical gay agenda and is anti Christian and pro abortion then that kind of language is offensive, hate filled and only supports the comments made by the atheist. Welcome to political correctness in America.

Political correctness is nothing less than censorship of any thought or opinion that opposes radical liberal/progressive agendas. The goal is to label and discredit opposition in a way that removes the safety to consider their argument as valid. It never argues the actual point of opposition but instead attacks the character of the person embracing that opposition.

Do not allow political correctness to prevent us from expressing our positions and fight back as honorably as possible to defend the truth. Satan is the father of lies, give him no respect by only telling the truth regardless of the outcome. The truth is the only honorable position.

I don’t have a problem with this at all an dthe head AG guy should have bigger balls to stand up for his guy who is taking a personal stand against a permissive bad policy. but sounds like the head AG is just that – a big head who is drinking PC koolaid. We must be able to stand for our personal beliefs and I don’t think anything he said was hateful or racist. I DO NOT WANT MY Daughter living in co-ed dorms where homosexual activity is promoted and advocated for. Nope – especially if it is a state funded school. That’s not be anti-gay – it is just frankly common sense. The moral confusion in our country is destroying families. WHY is his blog anymore distasteful then what the gay advocates are proposing and advocating for !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whats going on here is the progressive communists are trying to CONTROL what you can and cant think or believe in and say…. Its all an attempt to control you.

Thats it and thats all and it astounds me how the progressive drones are so infatuated with their FALSE morals that they cant even SEE that its wrong telling another person what they can and cant say or believe in.

This is the United States and you have the RIGHT to say and believe in what you want!

Censorship is the ultimate danger to our Constitution…

If you allow them to censor then they can revise [history, books, information etc] and if they can revise then they [PC government/Marxists] can CONTROL the information you get and if they can do that then they can control YOU…

People can criticize all they want, however firing someone or manifesting laws to protect people from getting their feelings hurt is absolutely NOTHING more than a massive slippery slope.

Precisely. This particular form is known as “blackwhite”. From Orwell’s “1984”.

Most of us read “1984” as an interesting bit of socio/political fiction. The left read it as a how-to manual…

All individual United States citizens being allowed to have individual morals and opinions on issues and the right to articulate those ideas isn’t good enough for these tyrannical vermin. I believe Andrew has the right of free speech. I am opposed to the homosexual agenda. GOD told ADAM and EVE to be fruitful and multiply. You can’t do that and be a gay(and I don’t mean a happy person). These people should not be harmed, though in the Bible (old testament),Homosexuals were stoned and killed. We live in the day of grace, under the new testament. I know in the end GOD will sort everyone out those who have honored HIM and kept HIS word, and those who have not. Gay’s are not keeping HIS word. Read the book of GENISIS in the BIBLE HE created them male and female.

The problem is that homosexuality is naturally occurring in many species in the natural world. For you to countermand this evidence by propagating the creation story does a disservice to mankind’s intelligence.

Non sequitur. It does not follow that because a thing happens, it is normative. Many defects occur “naturally”, such as mammals eating their children, etc. This is pretty common, as anyone who has raised rabbits well knows. Dogs also eat their own poop.

Your argument is about as childish as can be imagined, and it’s embarassing to see a putative adult employing such a sophistry.

Uh, Bigjim…and the rest of you newbies to blogging…it has long been considered extremely poor form to criticize spelling, grammar and punctuation while blogging. This has been the case since at least 1988 when Fidonet was the venue.

Only newbs criticize spelling. The spelling doesn’t make us look bad to seasoned bloggers, criticizing the spelling does….

I think it’s largely due to the glaring fact that liberalism cannot be defended intellectually or morally. It’s an amoral, anti-intellectual, appetite-based philosophy. It’s the ideology of the snivelling adolescent.

When there is no possible justification for your behaviors, all you can do is spit and throw tantrums.

Liberals are hateful, spiteful people who’s emotional development is stunted, permanently arrested at adolescence.

This is out of control. Does this mean that gays feel unless we embrace their culture and more, we are homophobic ? Let’s not forget that their way of life is not exactly one that a “family culture” would embrace, at least not historically speaking. I don’t object to their rights under the first amendment, I object to their repeated and relentless attempts to popularize this culture and influence our children.

The progressive liberals have slowly scraped away at our “decency”’ and you now have what you were after all along. Total chaos in our country. Misinformed, uneducated indoctrinated people many of whom are pulling all the strings in our country. The proof is in the pudding, pal. Are you proud of where we are as a nation now ? There is a Radical Gay agenda in this country. If you want to label me as a homophobe or someone who is bigoted for saying so-fine. But if you consider some of the things that gay men (especially 1 gay man in particular in the current administration) are trying to have taught in public schools, then you understand that it is the mind of a reprobate trying to pass on his sickness. Ask yourself if you want your kindergartner taught sexual subjects at all including descriptive homosexual events in class-including stories about sexual interludes in bathrooms with adults…I don‘t want to get into anyone’s bedrooms-and I could care less who or what anybody is having sex with. But keep it out of the children’s class room.
Check out the following site that documents some of the left wing wacko’s, including homosexuals and take a look at their allies are. Strange bed fellows indeed….

Same here. I lost my only brother to AIDS. I saw what it did to my mother. Being gay is not natural, and there are consequences. The “feminization” of American men is partly responsible, and the rest of the blame goes to political correctness. One more thing: I‘ve had all the gay agenda I’m going to take: It is now a trespass, and I will be treating it as such.

well said libertyordeath87 although real homeosesuality ocurs at birth in .05 % of the population. The rest is lifestyle choice, although they say who would chose such a choice. Easy anyone that wants sex but can’t attract women. If your in a peer group its easy. But your right it’s the proselytizing I hate, not their right to the lifestyle in a free society,

My pet peeve is that I used to describe myself as ‘gay’ from the time I woke in the morning. Now I can’t use that word to describe my levity. I bet the author of ‘for who the bell tolls’ is twisting in his grave. He used the word ‘gay’ to describe how soldiers kept their levity in the midst of pitched battle.

I’m also upset at the Catholic Church for not calling a spade a spade. Why do they call homosexual priests that chase boys pedophiles? pedophile includes cross gender and pre-puberty. This is not the case here. It’s specifically a man/boy thing. Of course it could be our media that won’t call a spade a spade.
