Everybody loves dinner and a show. Habachi-style Japanese restaurants have been very popular in the United States because they marry these two activities and get the whole table to participate. One cook in Ohio appears to have taken things a little too far, however, as he has been charged with serving alcohol to a minor. What do we mean? Well, the child’s parents claim their two-year-old become sick after having Saki squirted in his mouth.
The parents of 2-year-old Karl Preusser, nicknamed KJ, were furious after the chef squirted Japanese rice wine into their son’s mouth after offering a free squirt to adults at the table. KJ’s mother, Brittany Winter, told WJW-TV that the chef had jokingly asked if the two-year-old was 21. The boy said yes and opened his mouth where the chef shockingly squirted a “mouthful” of alcohol. The parents said following the squirt KJ began giggling and “his eyes got all watery,” then began to spit up.
CBS News reports that the cook told police he intended to make a motion like he was going to give the child some alcohol, but accidentally squirted some in his mouth. The restaurant backed up his claims.
KJ’s parents however told WOIO that before going to the police they complained to the manager, who said he would let the cook go that night.
The cook was charged with one count of furnishing intoxicating liquor to a minor, a first degree misdemeanor, and was summonsed to appear later this month in Massillon Municipal Court.

Posted on November 17, 2011 at 1:41amSake, it’s spelled Sake. Sake, type the word into Google and see for yourself. I am not the worlds best speller, far from it. I’m usually not the type to point out this sort of thing but the typo just seems so stupid. Sake, I drink it from time to time. I find Japanese culture to be very interesting. Sake, rice wine, served warm. Gee whiz…

Posted on November 17, 2011 at 7:56amThis is ridiculous. child sized mouthful of sake won’t hurt the kid. People all over the world purposefully give their children alcohol in various forms, not enough alcohol in that bit of sake to do anything.

Posted on November 17, 2011 at 8:03amPeople need to lighten up it a was a funny gesture that’s all it was. I remember when my nephew would grab my beer off the table and run around pretending to drink it. It got really annoying so one day I told him if he grabbed it he would have to drink it. He took one taste made an awful face and I asked him if wanted that or a glass of milk. He said that it tasted awful and asked for milk he never grabbed my beer again. I’m sure that Chef put a couple drops of sake and not a mouthful in that kids mouth. And that was enough to make him spit it out. Sake is a strong and tangy.

Michael Jackson gave children ‘Jesus Juice” aka wine and was acquitted. Later he died from an overdose of “milk” which is what he called propofol as he laid in bed with life size dolls.

Posted on November 16, 2011 at 8:43pmGive me a break! The guy said he didn’t mean to actually do it. It was an accident. People need to be more relaxed and less litigious! Get over it. He spit up a little, he didn’t have any real medical problems from it. This goes back to what I have always said, “People are walking around everyday, just waiting to be offended or find a way to sue someone”. Dang it folks, RELAX!!!

Posted on November 16, 2011 at 8:11pmThe first time I went to a restaurant like this, we had an inexperienced chef and he kept messing up. Each time, he would say “So sorry, so sorry… Japanese mistake, like Pearl Harbor.”
I’m SURE the chef intended to give alcohol to a 2 year old right in front of the parents and who knows how many other people. Now… If this guy did it more than once, I think there’s some intent though.

Posted on November 16, 2011 at 7:29pmWithout hearing the other side not sure if the chef intentionally gave the child alcohol, criminal minds work in mysterious ways. My thought would be no, anyone that has ever worked in a place that serves alcohol knows, job loss follows after serving minors, especially a 2 year old. The way the parents tell it the chef was joking the first time and I would be surprised to find out that it was not a joke the second. Just having fun.. mistakes can happen.

Posted on November 16, 2011 at 7:48pmYeah and the first thing the kid did was “giggle”. Bet he didn’t giggle when he took a big bite out of a gray clump in the litter box before they went out to eat that night. Stuff happens every day to a 21 month old….to me, it’s a small miracle when they make it thru a day unscathed.

Posted on November 16, 2011 at 6:57pmjust a question, when you saw him start to give the kid a squirt,or when you heard him ask jokingly are you 21, did you not have time to stop him, i mean come on, you had time to process the information, but did not have time to say stop, o please, they are so full of crap, they are probably the kind of parents that let their kids scream and make a scene in the store and tell them they are going to time out if they don’t stop, they probably let them do as they want,so they want bother them { the parents,} .this is bull crap, they had plenty of time to stop the waiter,so the fault is their and theirs only.

Posted on November 16, 2011 at 8:10pmHow would you know if they had plenty of time to stop the waiter? Who would sit there thinking the waiter would squirt the kid a mouthful of wine? They probably didn’t think he would actually do it until it was done. Having said that, it probably was an accident. Those guys mess around like that every time I go to one of those restaurants.

Posted on November 16, 2011 at 6:51pmI remember when parents used to rub whiskey on the gums of teething babies. Now they would lock em up. I’m not saying that the chef was “right” but accidents happen. Parents seem to get awfully upset over the little stuff these days .. how much could the squirt have been? I agree you would think a kid would spit it right out!

Posted on November 16, 2011 at 6:39pmI would think if it really was saki the little kid would have gagged, made an ugly face and spit it out – it is rather foul tasting to an unaccustomed palate…
