Dale Kildee, the 18-term Congressman representing Michigan’s 5th District, is strongly denying allegations made by distant family members that the lawmaker molested a 12-year-old male second cousin 50 years ago. Patrick Kildee suffers from mental illness and behavioral issues, and relatives claim he endured separate instances of sexual molestation for 5 years at the hands of his cousin Dale 50 years ago.
The Washington Times reported Sunday on the allegations against the Michigan lawmaker who serves on the House Early Childhood Committee and has oversaw the House Page Program:
“Jon Yinger a broadcaster, interviewed Patrick’s mother Jane, his step father, and sister who discussed with Mr. Yinger about the disturbing allegations regarding the Michigan Congressman.
‘We encouraged (Rep. Kildee) to run for office and even went down to Flint to spur him on,‘ said Patrick’s mother. ‘He spent almost every weekend at our house…it turns out, in my son’s bed.’”
A local TV station in Saginaw, Michigan, is scheduled to run an expose on the alleged abuse on Monday.POLITICO reports that the Democratic congressman is calling the accusations “completely false and shameful.”
“This is a concerted effort by distant relatives, two of whom have a long history of mental illness and multiple run-ins with the law, along with political adversaries to destroy my reputation by lying about something that never took place more than 50 years ago,” Kildee said in a statement released by his office on Sunday night.
Kildee announced in July that he would not seek another term, and his nephew Dan Kildee is running for his uncle’s vacated seat.
“Republicans tried to peddle these scurrilous allegations during my last congressional race and authorities and reputable news outlets rejected these false allegations,” Kildee said in the statement issued Sunday. “Now they are back at it again to try to win an open congressional seat.”
AP notes that Kildee speculated that the accusers may have been motivated by blackmail, and the Congressman distributed a copy of a letter, dated Jan. 12, 1988, which he says is the last communication he has had with his second cousin, the alleged victim. The letter addresses the congressman as “My Dear Cousin Dale” and asks for assistance in combating hunger in Zimbabwe.
Kildee will be holding a press conference Monday to refute the allegations. When approached by the Washington Times on his way to the airport Sunday, Kildee said of the allegations; “There’s no shred of truth to it.”
“I’m going to respond and let people judge,” he added.
Kildee gave similar comments to America’s Morning News at Reagan National Airport Sunday.

I don’t care what your political bent is. Someones second cousin on their mothers side makes a claim that something happened 50 years ago? Jesus, Ghandi, Mother Theresa could not defend themselves from this type of attack.
Anyone hit with this type of attack should immediately come back and ask the accuser about their involvement in the satanic cult tht was sacrificing animals 30 years ago!

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 8:24amI dont really care how long ago it happened! And I also dont care what political party he is with! And i am from his district in Michigan! What I do care about, is if this is true or false! I dont particularilycare for Kildee, but being he is my representative, I am interested in knowing how it took so long to come out! It is NOT going to hurt him politically( as far as running anyway) as he is retiring after this term! But I guess it hurts his following representative Dem , running! His nephew! But if this is true, he does need to admit it, get help, and move on! I guess, jail is not involved, due to the limits on how long it has been! But there is NO limit on the REAL damage this kind of SICK thing can due to the victim! And that has no statute of limitations, does it? !!! I again, really dont care about Kildee, but I do care about the truth! Lets just hope it FINALLY comes out!

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 8:22amHe had 50 years and many campaigns to reveal this accusation. He’s mentally fogged out. Follow the money trail. He probably just wants book rights and some time on a national talk show. It‘s reached the point where we won’t look at news on TV because it’s now all about Penn State and Syracuse and politicians who are accused of misbehaving in bed. The kids ask what this is all about and we change channels. I think this country has much important issues to work on. Where’s The One right one while the Super Committee is caving? I forgot… he’s traveling around the world. A 9 million dollar junket while we struggle to find jobs. Show THAT on TV, along with the fancy dinners and b&&&&-kissing dictators.

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 4:53amYou’re right. It makes no sense that 50 years later, when there is no political advantage, to accuse a man of a crime that there could be no witnesses to without them having been accomplices. It was supposed to have taken place over five years. If someone saw it, why didnt they stop it and have him arrested? If no one saw it, then they are basing this off a 62 yr old mentally ill man’s recollection of what happened to him 50 yrs prior when he was 7 to 12 yrs old. Yet, he continues to write to that cousin and seems to be on good terms. I blame the man’s shrink.

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 5:05amDon’t put faith in polygraphs. All they measure is stress levels in response to questions and not if a person is lying. That is one of the main reasons they are not allowed as evidence in a court.
Most people hooked up will be stressed by questions simply by the observer-expectancy effect which can yield inconclusive results, it is almost always the post-test interview where people slip up and not when directly wired to the machine.

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 4:36amI think people scramble to see if the pervert is Dem or Rep to see how much credibilty they can put into the story. If the accused is a Republican, and no facts are presented, its very likely to be a smear job. If its a Democrat that hasn’t gone against the Dem leadership, there is always a few facts the media is hiding. I really think you’d be hard pressed to find someone on this site that would be so cowardly as to overlook sexual abuse or child abuse because of their political affiliation.

Posted on November 21, 2011 at 12:51amDemocrat, Republican, Independent….all are open to to baseless accusations like this.
I don’t know of Kildee, but based upon this report, these accusations sound fishy. So the guy ahs been in office for 18 terms…36 years (way too long in my opinion but nonetheless). Give him a year for his first campaign when the family cheered him on and invited him into their home. That hardly sounds like 50 years.
Add to this the fact that the supposed victim was 12 at the time….making him 62 today. Hmmmm….wouldn’t something like this have come out before hand had it happened?
I’m sorry, but either this is weak reporting/all the details aren’t out yet or this is a bunch of b.s.
If I’m going to stand by Cain and point out the fallacies, then I have to do it for this guy as well.
