Michael Moore To CNBC: ‘Do Your Job!’

On Monday, CNBC interviewed filmmaker Michael Moore. During the course of the interview, Moore took it upon himself to tell CNBC how to do its job.
“You are in there. You are journalists. It’s your job not just to report that the Dow is up 95 points already today, but to go in there and find out what’s really happening,” Moore said.
“Who’s, who’s, who’s going? Who’s making this money? Who’s dividing this pie up so that the 1 percent gets the majority of it?”
By “1 percent,” is Moore referring to the type of person who (while on a book tour) travels across the country in a “private jet, accompanied by a fleet of private SUVs and bodyguards?”
“That’s, that’s really the story your fellow Americans want you to do,” Moore continued.
Yes. Michael Moore has just decided that CNBC should be doing investigative pieces on who makes how much, how they make it, where they invest it, and so on…
“They wanna’ know where their jobs went. They want to know where their future’s going to be. That’s the job of CNBC.”
“Yes,” the CNBC anchor replied. “Absolutely.”
“So please do your job, please!”

Michael Moore’s call for CNBC to change the nature of their program and to investigate the personal finances of the wealthy might backfire on him.
You see, as recently as 2005 Peter Schweizer wrote a book titled Do As I Say (Not As I Do) that accomplished exactly what Michael Moore implored CNBC to do. It investigated the financial data of some of the wealthiest members of the “1 percent” and successfully revealed how some of the “1 percenters” made their money, how they invested it and how they spent it.
One of the members of the “1 percent” Schweizer wrote about was Michael Moore.
During the course of his investigation, Schweizer uncovered the fact that Michael Moore had set up a private foundation that allowed him and his wife to donate tax-free to any cause of their choice. Then it was also discovered that this same foundation had no outside managers or trustees, according to Schweizer.
What seems curious is that, when he wrote Stupid White Men, Michael Moore also claimed that he owned no stock.
One could imagine the surprise when Schweizer discovered that the now-champion of the “99 percent,” who “owns no stock,” reported to the IRS that his foundation “had more than $280,000 in corporate stock and close to $100,000 in corporate bonds.”
But that’s not all.
Upon further scrutiny, Moore’s IRS forms showed that his “savings account,” portfolios and investments included corporations such as:
- Pfizer
- Merck
- Genzyme
- Elan PLC
- Eli Lilly
- Becton Dickinson
- Sunoco
- Noble Energy
- Schlumberger
- Williams Companies
- Transocean Sedco Forex (“the world’s largest offshore drilling company”)
- Anadarko
- Boston Scientific.
What’s more, Moore also owned shares in Haliburton that he sold “for a 15 percent profit and bought shares in Noble, Ford, General Electric, AOL Time Warner, and McDonald’s.”
Other investments have included Honeywell, Boeing, and Loral — all of which are defense contractors.
Maybe Moore is on to something here. Maybe CNBC should take him up on his admonition and do an investigative piece on people’s finances. Who knows? They might discover something that went unrevealed in Schweizer’s book.

I said it before. Liberals don‘t understand that wealth doesn’t need to be stagnant. They seem to only see dollars as wealth. We build more and better homes, cars, computers, televisions… we keep building more and better stuff for everyone, there’s more wealth for everyone.
America’s rich because we were the inventors, the creators, and the workers. Now, we have a bunch of kids and hippies at Wall Street standing with the Socialists and Communists with their hands out saying, “Gimme!”
I saw some teacher complaining that she only made $60,000 a year. I worked very HARD jobs. I loaded trucks, built homes, hauled carpet up 4 floors, I did jobs so dirty I went home coughing up black phlegm and I never made half of what she made, but I was determined to pay for college MYSELF. I never asked for handouts. Government is NEVER the solution, it’s the problem. We MUST keep it as small as possible to allow opportunity and liberty for everyone.

If he had to give up his money from all his films and live off of the average private sector job yearly salary, he could not do it. If all these Hollywood elites really wanted to put their money where their mouth was (Moore would likely even lose weight from the fiber content of the money) then they would all be living off of the average, not the mean (which is lower), of private sector employees. The current AVERAGE government sector employee salary is twice the national average for the private sector employee. It is unthinkable that we ever got to this point of allowing the “water cooler jobs” of the govt, state and federal, to ever make more and have more benefits negotiated with public sector govt controlled unions than average private sector jobs. Govt needs some jobs but when you see SEIU or AFLCIO preparing to represent the TSA, it is a painfully obvious symptom of the madness upon which we have rested our future. We must change this course now.

However I also understand the mainstream media that spews the progressive agenda, which will continue under a different guise in an effort to convince the American people that they are fair and balanced. The progressives have no problem throwing anyone under the bus if it is to their own advantage. There have been allot of interesting remarks coming from the mouths of the progressives lately in an attempt to throw the people off just enough to keep them loyal to their base. Allot of people fall for it. They can not be trusted no matter what they will come up with. We know the direction they are trying to lead us in. Keep your ears and eyes open , and FOCUS . Do not let them fool you or lead you astray . These misguided souls imply that there is only one pie to divide amongst the masses for the fear factor. When in fact every individual and company has the opportunity to bake it’s own pie and either does all the work him or herself and keeps the whole pie, or shares the pie with others according to their personal preference and agreement with those who would choose to take a part in the pie. If no agreement is reached either bake your own pie and keep as much as you want or walk to the next table.

I have heard it said and agree that character is not a gift but comes from the things that we suffer even as Christ suffered. Every seed must start face down in the dirt to come to full manifestation of what it is in a multiplied form. You need fruit for a pie and too many are taught to hate the dirt that gives them root and the hard work required to just grow up, take some initiative and quit the complaining!

The latest is right on the Malibu coast, the same place where Al-baby says the rising water levels from global warming will flood. I guess the waters would just encircle his property and leave him alone because he’s such a protector of the environment.
