Michael Moore: U.S. Was ‘Founded on Genocide and Built on the Backs of Slaves’

The ever-controversial, far-left filmmaker Michael Moore is back at it again, this time disparaging the U.S. by accusing the nation of having been “founded on genocide and built on the backs of slaves.”

“It’s not envy, it’s war, it is a class war, it’s a war that’s been perpetrated by the rich on to everyone else. The class war is one they started. The mistake they made to deal with the racial part of this, is, um, their boots have been on the necks of people of color since we began. This is a nation founded on genocide and built on the backs of slaves, alright, so we started with a racial problem.”

Moore delivered his inflammatory remarks on CSPAN while speaking on the topic of poverty in America. Watch the clip below. It will be sure to raise pulses:

Some may feel that, as merely a film director, Moore’s views are largely irrelevant. Others argue, however, that his movies (typically posed as documentaries) reach and have the ability to influence a wide audience, thus indoctrinating a host of those less informed into believing the same ill-begotten narrative. While some may brush off accusations that the U.S. ever perpetrated “genocide” (especially given that the assertion is not based on fact) as preposterous, on the broader scale Moore’s comments may reflect a commonly held viewpoint in the liberal community at large — the view that “colonialist” America only achieved success through “genocide” — or, implementing wide-scale, race-driven mass-murder — and the through the exploitation of slaves.

For a growing contingent, Moore and others who share similar mindset are no longer viewed the harmless, “misguided yet well-meaning” ideologues his supporters have painted them to be.

      You know Dag I have been saying that for years, but NO ONE will challenge him on it. I wanna know why he is here if its so bad. If he and the rest of the degenerate brigade think they are going to change things here they are gravely mistaken!

      Slavery primarily produced cotton and sugar at artificially low cost.
      These were exported to Europe at artificially low prices.
      Even today, we see the Europeans living off the bounty of that arrangement.

      But for the money they saved in the 19th century, could Europe have afforded socialism in the 20th century.

Immigrants, arriving here without permission, destroyed the native culture and slaughtered the native people. That’s a fact. It does make the descendents of those immigrants sound like hypocrites when they rail on about immigration and “the brownimg of America.” Perhaps you avoid admitting that America was built on the backs of slaves because because it certainly weakens your arguments against unions, workers rights, and income inequality.

      What is his point? Even if our country was “founded on genocide and built on the backs of slaves”, it is what it is. Look ast the history of all great nations, Ottomen Empire, Rome, the American Indian Nations, England, Napolian’s France, etc. etc. They and we all have had our share of bad history, but that doesn’t mean that today we have not progresswed. Hell, look at Germany. It really has a bas history, but it is presently the savior of Europe.

      Michael Moore is just an angry, selfish, rich guy who can’t see the errors of his own ways. what we need to do to move forward in this country is show what the true history of this country is and how the founders fought against slavery and that it has ALWAYS been the Left who have enslaved and tried to irradiate the black and other races. Unless the native americans used black slaves (which they did not) the people that came here and created a civilized nation with their blood/sweat and tears were the EUROPEAN colonization, not the slaves. MY great grandparents broke their own backs, as did my grandparents, as did my own father who, as a boy, lived in a shack, only ate what he grew or hunted
      Mr. Moore, refer back to your gradeschool history lessons, unless you used that time to terrorize fellow classmates even back then.

      I have seen him tell a city (Traverse City, Michigan) that they needed to raise money and upgrade a theater so that HE could have his film festival continue to come to the city. He stood side by side with Madonna and told them THEY would need to raise the money .. the two of them could have come up with the funds and not even MISSED IT! But Michigan People who have been dealing with a recession (depression) long before the rest of the country needed to come up with the $$ … people were NOT impressed with Moore or Madonna!

    Can anyone name a country that didn’t have slavery of some kind when this country was founded? As for the genocide crack. Granted there was genocide in CA, but it was largely done by the Spanish. If anything the beginning of the end to slavery began with the Declaration of Independence. MM has sold his soul to get into the class of folks he claims he detests so much. He’s so hollow, anyone can see through him.

      Really? We had eight presidents who owned slaves. Slaves were counted toward Congressional apportionment. In 1790 the number of slaves – approx 700,000. It increased every year after that, numbering near 4,000,000 in 1860.

      Please point out to me where in the Constitution it says a black man is only 3/5ths of a person.

      Oh, that’s right, it doesn’t. It says:

      “Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons.” (Article I, Section 2)

      1. Taken anything during war that was not granted to them in the end by governmental agreements?
      2. Taken a country by WAR and enslaved the people and stolen the assets?
      3. Created giant graves where they piled bodies while not in war time?
      4. Hurled bombs across the sea?
      5. Sent Americans over to other parts of the world with bombs strapped to them in hopes of killing other people?
      6. continued the slave tradition and trade?
      7. routinely marry young girls under 16 years old or younger?

As for CA, I’m fairly certain that the Spanish took over most of central America and the west coast, and weren’t very kind to the indigenous populations. Once the US acquired CA from the Spanish, genocide still occurred, however most of the killing happened under Spanish occupation. I’m not going into the crawl space to dig out my old notes to verify because it wouldn’t matter to you anyway. You’re so entrenched in your leftist rhetoric your mind is closed to any ideas that don’t go along with your preconception that America is evil.

      The only nation that had legal slavery when our nation was founded was Cuba. Cuba and America. That’s the whole list. So naming a country that didn’t have slavery at the time of the founding of the United States is easy if you can just remember to avoid Cuba.
