Bachmann Canceling S. Carolina Travel Plans, Holding 11a.m. Press Event, Sources Say She Will Suspend Campaign

Michele Bachmann Cancelling South Caroline Plans, May Be Ending Campaign

Many speculated that Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann would end her campaign for the Republican nomination for president after a disappointing, sixth-place finish in the Iowa Caucuses. Especially considering it was the state she was born in and where she won the Iowa Ames straw poll over the summer leading to Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty’s exit from the race. But despite the low finish in the caucus, Bachmann said last night she planned to continue her campaign this week in New Hampshire and South Carolina.

It appears Rep. Bachmann may have had a change of heart.

Multiple reporters from NBC first tweeted that Rep. Bachmann canceled her South Carolina travel plans, and CNN confirmed that Bachmann will be holding a media event today in Des Moines at 11a.m. Fox News is also reporting the same thing on its telecast.

AP now reports that Rep. Bachmann is indeed canceling her campaign trip to South Carolina, and her campaign manager Keith Nahigan would not confirm whether the Minnesota congresswoman intends to drop out of the campaign.

The New Hampshire primary is the next contest in the race. But Bachmann’s strategy has her effectively writing off that Jan. 10 contest, focusing on the South Carolina primary on Jan. 21.

A senior Republican official with direct knowledge of the Minnesotta congresswoman’s plans told the National Journal that Bachmann will announce that she will be suspending her campaign.

“The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the Minnesota lawmaker, a favorite of the tea party wing of the party and a harsh critic of President Obama, realized after her sixth-place finish in Iowa’s caucuses that ‘there was no viable way forward.’ By suspending her campaign, Bachmann is effectively dropping out.”

We’ll keep you updated when the congresswoman makes her remarks.

Bachmann voted for the NDAA in May before it went to the Senate. She is a traitor and doesn’t deserve to be President.

MICHELE BACHMANN is an economic and social conservative and has been a gracious, truthful voice in this race. I disagree with her about giving foreign aid to Pakistan or any other Islamic organization or nation. Perry and Paul are right about that.

I hope they ALL stay in the debate and continue to articulate the reasons NOT TO VOTE FOR OBAMA or for Conservative In Name Only (CINO) candidates, to vote against big government, globalism, manipulation of economy, currency, dishonest and foolish, costly foreign policies, anti-Christian policies.

As Sarah Palin says, they all have some good ideas and some that need to go.

Not to mention that Representative Bachmann fills out her carefully selected dresses like a spring chicken and has wonderful photogenic eyes.

You don’t see her prancing around in jogging suits or blue jeans. She remains presidentially elegant.

She is a nut job a racist and a homophobe. There is nothing wrong with believing that homosexuality is a sin, if that is your belief. But she is trying to make it seem that homosexuality make a person less human. God does not like that and he frowns on people who look down on others. These people had no choice in how they were born, so why there is such hate towards gay people is beyond me. Especially amongst so-called Christians. She states that the United States agrees with her. I guess that’s why she came in DEAD ARSE LAST in Iowa Caucus

i live on the left coast so candidates are essentially “picked” long before we ever have our primaries here. that said, i’ve watched this race closely and learned a little about each candidate. i still dont see a great president in any of them, several would make good presidents, but not great. they all have their strong suites; good public speakers, organizers, historians, etc. i think it would behoove who ever gets the nomination to hold places in their cabinets for each of the candidates and let them use their strengths..we all have a common goal which is to fix this broken nation.

we cant continue doing the same thing and expect different results. lets try something new, get rid of the negativity and the opponent bashing and come together. we are stronger in numbers than we are individually.

Precisely why I think there should be no such thing as a primary. A few, small, special interest states are flooded with bribe money and special deals, set up with powerhouse establishment systems, and effectively remove all true democratic choices for We the People.

I will write in my pick come election time, I doubt I’ll even bother with the scam of a primary. Ron Paul has at least one vote, regardless of this shell game.

Obama is a great president for the liberals. He used the CODE WORDS, hope & change & fundamental transformation of this country and he has accomplished about 70% of his CODE WORD promises. Some say words coming from conservatives like family, individual responsibilites(being a good citizen by being part of the solution and not part of the problem),and other feel-good-about-America and its citizens, just sounds so CORNY and running for president with that kind of retoric will not work in this day and age. Many Americans are COCKY & ARROGANT and don’t know what they have ’till it’s gone.

With a stroke of a pen, look at the power of the president seat. This power can be so misused because man is so flawed. People pleasing should not enter into this presidential power but put forth actions for the good of the nation and ALL its peoples. Being president is NOT SIGNIFICANT. It is significant when the office and nation is being abused. Agree with Paul regarding getting back to basics and SLOWLY removing the nursing-bottle from countries so they can reorganize and set-forth their values in their own countries. I stand firm with our ally, Israel!!!,however. Send out a greeting to the world leaders…don’t mess with us and good-wishes from America.

Please pray for all our current and future leaders. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

Made the big mistake of saying Beck endorses her and quoting Becks “ mean what you say and say what you mean” when Beck himself means nothing of what he says since he became politically active. I was a huge fan of Beck’s but so so disappointed that he would even think of voting 3rd party. That he would tell us of all the dangers of Obama being re elected for another 4 years and to just throw all that away because you don’t like Gingrich- something is not right here. Exactly who is more dangerous? and if both are the same- does it make sense to leave the one who has embeded himself into the White House, who is rendering the United States defensless, who is fundamentally changing America and knows nothing of the Constitution? Give me a break who the hell was Beck talking about the past 3 years? Yes I will agree with Beck that Gingrich is bad but Obama is worse!
And I thought the goal here -NO MATTER WHAT-was to get this guy Obama out of office.

Beck should not openly endorse anyone, and candidates should not use his name to try to obtain votes on the back of Beck’s name. It doesn’t work anymore. Ask Oprah how any of her business’ are doing including her magazine.

Obama has done more for the United States than any President since Roosevelt. And no amount of you all saying he is the worse president is going to change that. For a president to be the worse president ever, the entire country would have to believe this. ONLY THE REPUIBLICANS are saying this. like I said a few weeks ago, you all are doing yourselves a disservice by ONLY viewing comments on CONSERVATIVE websites. I go to both liberal and conservative sites. This is the only way to get an ACCURATE GAGE, of how the country views the president. You all prefer to be lost by only getting the opinions and comments of conservatives. How dumb is that. Repubs loooooove Ronald Reagan. Regan did nothing for poor people, nor did he do anything for minorities. he did EVERYTHING for the rich. Which is why the Republicans WORSHIP HIM. Conservatives love Reagan more than they love Jesus. Even Ronald Reagan‘s son doesn’t like how the Republicans compare themselves to his father. He does not RELATE TO YOU ALL.

I think last night’s down to the wire photo finish is a good thing. Romney/Santorum virtually tied and Paul a close third show me that voters (at least in Iowa) are really taking a look at the candidates – and voting based on what they find and how they feel about it. Much better than blindly casting their vote for the candidate the media and/or the Republican establishment tells them they should vote for.

I think she really gave it a great try, believing strongly that God wanted her to — but that is usually very hard to discern — and you don’t really find out until you try. I agree with Sarah Palin, who said it looked like it may not be “her time” right now. But that doesn‘t mean God doesn’t want her in other authoritative, important positions that would further the “Tea Party’s” cause. She’d make a GREAT House majority Whip – replace Boehner !!! or maybe another Cabinet position. We’ll see. Think she’ll be used to help though. We need to win the Senate, along with the House – so pray we do that also !!! God is always in control and will bring in whoever He wants. I always pray for His mercy and grace on us and intervene to ensure we get someone who will not only win, but able to do all the tough things that need to be done right away to restore us. I like Rick Santorum also and believe he’d fight “the good fight” and be honest with us – not a compromiser and I’m glad he came in “almost” first last night.
