Michele Bachmann Reveals Her ‘Favorite’ Gun: ‘An AR-15′ — Here’s Why

Have you ever wondered what presidential candidate Michele Bachmann considers her favorite gun? Well wonder no more: it’s an AR-15.

Bachmann made the revelation during a radio interview with WHO-AM RADIO on Thursday morning. But that wasn’t the only gun-related news she discussed. She also talked about how she‘s a concealed carry permit holder and how she’s actually set to go on an upcoming bird hunt with Rep. Steve King.

“Hey, I’m a pretty good shot, I got to tell you,” she said, later adding, “I learned how to hunt here in Iowa from my dad. I went through gun safety when I was 12. … And I scored the best in my class of any of the men, too, in that class.”

So why does she like the AR-15 so much? “Because you can be so accurate with it.”

“I love it. I love it, it’s a great gun. I like being accurate, and that is a great gun.”

    I really like Michele Bachman, but WTF? The host is out of his league in the question department, but Michele really missed a big opportunity by not snapping off a few comments beyond accuracy. Trjicon, AimPoint, Eotec, MagPul, Bushmaster, DPMS, Colt… Whatcha‘ runnin’ girl?

      @Thrice: Dude, the Patriot Act is a POS, but it doesn’t infringe on your Second Amendment right. I’m glad Michele is talking guns, but I’d be surprised if she actually owns an AR. But all in all good for her, I’m proud of her.

    When the shite hits the fan an AR-15 is an excellent defensive weapon – accurate, deadly and fairly cheap ammo. Of course my 10 shot pump shot gun is top choice

      I prefer my AR-10……can’t stand up after a .308 hits ya and if ya do a .45 will set you down permannetly! Shotguns are good for a couple zombies but you have to be too close for my comfort….

      Kinda like the flash mobs at stores – if you get my drift- it will be the inner cities first then the burbs. I don’t suspect too much in the rural areas until a lot of them have been killed off – but by that time them may have gotten smart and really banded together into a semi – army.

      Yeah but a shotgun loaded with 6s or 7s will turn guts into mush at close range – my 20ga (wife shoots it to) pump with 18″ barrel is great for close work. The 7.62 x39 has killed more people than any othrer round. Love my Garand for out to 1000 yards but the 8 round mag is to small for close (100yds or less) work.
      Wife and I both carry Walther P380s for emergency use, last time we qualified I put 50 rounds in the 10 ring and she had 47, wih a jamaccounting for the 3 misses, she would have aced it but the instructor told her not to bother she had already qualified to keep her license.

      It is always a tough race between the AR-15 and the AK series. Granted, Kalashnivkovs are some of the most resilient weapons ever built, but I still love the AR, just the ease and customization of the weapon gives you the ability to modify the gun for what you need.

      That said, it still ticks me off that .223 ammo is so blasted expensive.

      Wouldn’t you agree, however, that the vast majority of people that “love guns”, also love the Constitution? So, isn’t it logical, then, that you “should” vote for somebody that loves guns because the vast majority of those people will fight tooth-n-nail to protect the Constitution.

      The reason I currently support Bachmann is because she operates in the very same capacity as I do. She’s in love with the concept of our Constitution and every move she makes is based on protecting and nurturing it. She simply refuses to pay lip service and call it a day. She’s mid-western. She’s grounded. She understand what’s really important in the grand scheme of things. She doesn’t scare easily. She loves guns. She’s Lutheran (Seriously, has there ever been a more grounded people, at least up until about 15 years ago? Full Disclosure: I am a Lutheran.)

      I don’t mind Paul, and like Johnson, but Bachmann is my preference unless Palin decides to win one for the Gipper.

      There, I put it first this time!

      I generally find that the people who (that have the time and/or make the time) do their research are Ron Paul Supporters. I wasn’t always for Ron. I actually checked out his congressional voting record.

      When you see that he is the only candidate running with real integrity and consistency…You might change your mind. The middle east has been at war for thousands of years, way before we started sticking our nose in because we wanted to “safely” drill their oil. Ron Paul knows this how come you don’t? Obama and Swillary Clinton are doing their best to make this a religious war… If we left them alone and drilled our own oil… I bet they would leave us and Israel alone too. That is Dog with a ferocious bite, with enough nukes to turn the middle east into a parking lot. The same square footage is holy ground for all the great religions… I just don’t think Muslims (or Iran) are that stupid to nuke their own holy ground.

      I get tired of all the simple one liners about his crazy foreign policy or drugs… They all sound like MSM sound bites and the Blaze is almost as guilty as the rest, but not quite.

      Ron Paul is only going to get 4 years. If in that 4 years he is able to undo some of the biggest stupidity that has been handed out to the American people over the last 50 years… Which he will… I’m all for it!

      I used to think Ron Paul was pretty good to go on domestic policy and weak on foriegn policy then I DID DO MY RESEARCH. At which point I came to the conclusion that Ron Paul is a effing lunatic on all fronts. The GOLD STANDARD??????????????? REALLY????????????? ad in all the nut jobs, conspiracy theorists, racists and assorted whack jobs he panders to for funding and support not to mention his own ravings about the Blindenbergers and the CIA inventing AIDS that I pulled up in his own words with just a cursory search and even Obama would mop the floor with him in the general.

      First off, I am a registered Libertarian, libertarian by nature and studied logic (see “Libertarianism from A to Z” by Jeffrey A. Miron before responding from ignorance). Ron Paul already said he wasn’t going to run elsewhere; Gary Johnson, however, has already indicated he wants the Libertarian nomination. Paul’s supporters will have somewhere to take their money and votes when Ron Paul finally implodes.
      Obama should be no problem if someone starts asking publicly enough “How is he somehow immune from the Muslim law on apostates? Is he really a convert, or practicing “taqiyya” (Divine deceit to advance Islam)? Is he fooling the Muslim world – or just fooling ignorant Westerners too fearful to consider the possibility?” Does anyone imagine the results of his policies are accidental?

      You can try shooting too GaryM! I bet there is a range right near you. You do not have to be afraid, take a chance and walk in. They will treat you right and rent you a good starter gun and teach you how to fire it. You are not the only person in the country with a lack of experience of firearms, they deal with folks like you every day. Nothing to be embarrassed about, we all had to start somewhere. You do not have to be jealous of Bachmann, the AR15 is a gentle gun, very pleasant to fire. Why not give it a try?

    Yes …My Mr. Stag with scope is quite nice …and my hand guns: three 9 mm, two .45 ACP’s and last, but not least, “The Judge”.

      From that comment you have probably never even held an AR. Ruger uses investment cast receivers, I would trust forged aluminum ahelluva lot more. Modern AR type rifles are extremely accurate, well made pieces of kit. Most will shoot under 1MOA out of the box, if you want a 1MOA gun from any company you have to pay more for it 98% of the time. Reliability is fantastic as well I have owned more than a dozen different AR variants I can dump 100 round Beta mags all day long without a hiccup, they just plain run… Take all that crap you heard about AR’s and throw it in the trash most of it is lies.       Have loved the 14 since it came out in the early 70s. Bought one from the Navy Exchange in San Diego, wish I still had it. Checked them out before I bought my AK, Just to darn expensive. The SKS and AK are still realitivly inexpenseive, plenty of ammo(buy cases with 1360 rounds. I was in Vietnam a couple of times and was issued the 16. Carried an Mq Carbine or AK, we had wall lockers full of both.

      I went through basic training with an M-1 Gerand and I like Ruger’s smaller versions, but my experiences with the early M-16 (that didn’t need cleaning?!) left no confidence in the design and especially the cartridge. I own an AR-10 that I have yet to shoot (got my Kel-Tec 7.62 Nato Bull-Pup the following week and the AR lost its appeal). Ruger’s Mini 30, is hard to beat.

      AR-15′s are fun to shoot, the ammo can be had in large quantities, very inexpensively, especially if you don’t mind using corrosive rounds. Not my first choice for home defense, either, but it’ll do in a pinch.

      Actually they are great HD guns. The high velocity of the round promoted fragmentation when it hits drywall thereby making it safer to shoot indoors. Pistol rounds and shotgun rounds over penetrate indoors making them unsafe for bystanders in other rooms.

      Michelle doesn’t have a great mind as Ron Paul pointed out in the debates. She likes to make things up and she’s for The Patriot act as well as other govt programs that squelch your freedoms.
