Michelle Announces New Nutrition Book...as President Orders Chicken And Waffles in L.A.

While making a Midwestern campaign sweep this week, Michelle Obama stopped in Chicago to speak on urban food “deserts.” She also announced a new nutrition book. But in a twist of irony, the book flies in the face of her husband’s recent food choices.

First, the Chicago Tribune on the First Lady’s Tuesday events:

“The first lady will make a campaign visit in Detroit at midday Tuesday, then plans two stops in Chicago in connection with a mayoral summit convened by Mayor Rahm Emanuel on food deserts, which are areas lacking access to grocery stores. Eight other mayors are expected for the summit, including Tom Barrett of Milwaukee, R.T. Ryback of Minneapolis and Stephanie Rawlings-Blake of Baltimore.

At 2:45 p.m., Michelle Obama will visit a Walgreens store at 11 E. 75th St. that has expanded to sell produce and grocery staples, and she will make the summit’s closing remarks there.”

Mrs. Obama’s speech at the “summit” comes a day after it was announced she will release her first book on homemaking; “American Grown: How the White House Kitchen Garden Inspires Families, Schools and Communities,” this April. A press release from the Crown Publishing Group reads:

“Through telling the story of the White House kitchen garden, Mrs. Obama will explore in American Grown how increased access to healthy, affordable food can promote better eating habits and improve health of families and communities across America. Mrs. Obama will describe how her daughters Sasha and Malia were catalysts for change in her own family’s eating behavior, which inspired Mrs. Obama to plant an edible garden on the South Lawn – the first since Eleanor Roosevelt’s ‘Victory Garden’ planted during World War II. The book will be inspirational and instructive and will provide ideas and resources for readers to get involved in the movement to create community, school, and urban gardens, support local farmers’ markets, and make small lifestyle changes to achieve big health results.”

While Michelle continues her campaign for healthy foods, even reportedly getting into a spat with comfort-food queen Paula Deen, that hasn’t stopped her husband from indulging. TMZ spotted President Obama yesterday in Los Angeles at the famous Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles.

The restaurant manager told TMZ that Obama ordered the “Country Boy” combo; 3 fried chicken wings, a waffle, and potato salad. Obama’s decision may not have been the healthiest but at $8.40, it was at least fiscally responsible.

She’s just trying to get everyone ready for the Agenda 21 projects that are sweeping the country. And if BHO is reelected, and at the end of those 4 yrs, we’ll be forced to grow our own vegetable garden; barter with neighbors; riding a bike or walking; using candles; firewood; and sitting on the porch with our loaded weapons!

If Moochelle had any ovaries, she’d go after the corn syrup sweeteners. That’s where a lot of American obesity comes from!

“How the White House kitchen garden inspires families, schools and communities.”
It inspires me to grab a nice, fat bratwurst, with sauerkraut and potato pancakes. And wash it down with a bottle of Spaten Oktoberfest. Tommorrow, maybe a ribeye steak. Now look what you’ve gone and done…

Even the title, “American Grown” is offensive. I seem to recall that on inauguration day, she said:
“For the first time in my life, I’m proud to be an American.”

Somewhere between her anti-American sentiments and “American Grown” lies the truth, which, as most of us know, will not be forthcoming from an Obama.

You really do have to be a progressive to believe in “food deserts.“ Is that kind of like ”global warming?” I find it laughable that her royal highness, queen Moochelle Antoinette Obama always wags her finger at us for our unhealthy eating habits, while her husband goes on a caloric binge. After the book signing, did she load up on barbeque ribs?

Food deserts. Give us a break…

If Michelle Obama was so into “good eating and health, she’d have lyposuckon on that wide butt of hers. She’s the last person that should be telling us how to eat.

My doctor told me the other day, to ignore Michelle Obama’s healthy eating, and stick to what our grandmothers taught us. Eat fruits, veggies, and small sides of meat. You can’t eat out at fast food restaurants every week. You can eat regular meals, or several small meals during the day and lose weight. You just can’t sit down and eat tubs of ice cream, donuts, etc. and expect to lose weight.
I see families take their children in fast food restaurants and allow them to eat and eat and eat. They are slowly killing their children, and don’t know how to say “NO”. Discipline is lacking and obesity is growing as fast as people. To allow SNAP cards to be used at McDonalds, Hardee’s, and other fast food restaurants is WRONG, WRONG. Mothers need to learn to cook, freeze meals ahead of time, and feed their children properly. Parents are the problems, not the children! I see it every day…
