Michelle Obama: Gov‘t Won’t Tell You What to Do Regarding Food, But…

Michelle Obama’s passion for healthy food is well-known to most Americans by this point. For the last several years, she has waged a ceaseless battle against the horrors of “food deserts” and childhood obesity by planting vegetables on the White House lawn, dancing with children at “Move Your Body” events, and chiding soldiers for their eating habits.
(Related: Michelle Obama Wants $400 Million for Non-Existent ‘Food Deserts’)
Now, the first lady has published a 271-page book on the topic, titled “American Grown.”
In the book, according to the Associated Press, Michelle “holds out the raised vegetable beds on the South Lawn as ‘an expression of [her] hopes‘ for the nation’s children.”
“Just as each seed we plant has the potential to become something extraordinary, so does every child,” she says.
Amid a flurry of media appearances, Michelle is being asked whether there is any justification to Republican criticism of her childhood obesity campaign, that perhaps it is not government’s place to tell Americans what to feed their children. On Tuesday, she joined ABC’s Robin Roberts.
Roberts asked Obama about the criticism from some saying she‘s trying to insert government into people’s food choices. Nodding as though she understands the concern, the First Lady responded:
…This isn’t about government telling people what to do. What we know we need to do is give parents, communities, families the tools and information they need to make choices that are right for them and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. … “Let’s Move!” is a way of giving people the tools and information and it really requires everybody to step up.
But perhaps a little disjointedly, she immediately switched to citing the way government can help by saying mayors should start “stepping up”:
We need our mayors stepping up, restructuring cities so that kids have safer places to play. We need our food manufacturers stepping up and really thinking about how to reformulate food products so that they are a little more healthy [and] affordable. We need big supermarkets to locate grocery stores in under-served communities. So, it’s a little bit of everything.
Watch her interview with ABC below (she discusses the government’s role around 2:40):
Michelle Obama’s anti-obesity efforts have contributed to the modification of the Olive Gardens and McDonald’s menus to include “kid-friendly,” low sodium options nationwide, and apple wedges and fewer french fries in every Happy Meal (whether it is asked for or not), respectively.
Back in February, a North Carolina student’s turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice, were sent home following an inspector’s determination that they were not healthy enough. Instead, she was given the school lunch of chicken nuggets.
The First Lady further stated that Americans would likely be seeing much more of her and the battle against childhood obesity in the coming months, as her husband’s presidential campaign continues to intensify.
“I’m going to be out there a lot…I love campaigning,” she said.

Posted on May 29, 2012 at 12:49pmYou know it, and she never talks about how healthy foods are so much more expensive than the pasta either, or how it might be because we’re paying farmer not to grow food, and devaluing the dollar. Or how it costs more to truck those vegetables to market these days because of fuel costs. I’m a poor man. The most healthy foods I eat, I either pull out of a river or shoot/grow myself.

These are, simply put, the most Anti-American dangerous people who have ever had influence in America. They are traitors. They need to be tried as Traitors. Shame on them.
She doesn’t need to “force people”…she might think about ‘setting an example’… oh, I know, that’s too much personal responsibility for any of those dopes to take. Wearing $ 500 gold sneakers to dole out food is not exactly what I’m talking about. Next January, I bet the new first lady will have to spend 10 grand to make the WH yard look groomed, like it was. Here in Oklahoma we used to go to the Farmers Market. Now those folks are legal or breaking the law. Some have the sign that says – We honor Food Stamps and IBC cards. I had a friend who used to sell his stuff but the Feds came and told him he was discriminating against the poor and he had to Blah-Blah. Now he has no garden.

Plus it might be considered an extenuating action on your part when you are tried by Obama’s military tribunals (coming soon to a town near you!).
Now, you’ve expressed you opinions to the world and you have been identified by the FDA and Agenda 21 agents, as well as Area 31 personnel. Maybe I’m saying too much but they may already assigned you to a FEMA camp based on your posts here. Zip! I can’t say anything more about that.
Look who cares if we are among the fattest countries on Earth, one vying to have the highest death rate directly attributable to morbid obesity, a country who has kids so fat that they can’t join the service if they want to. It‘s not the First Lady’s place – this particular First Lady doesn’t seem to know her place – to advocate for a healthy diet. Now, if she was in favor of reading like Laura Bush that might be okay, depending on what she recommended reading. If she recommended reading the Bible, that might be okay, depending on the passage. As long is wasn’t some crap about helping the poor, that might be okay.

Posted on May 29, 2012 at 11:37pmMichelle Obama’s campaign to control how Americans eat is bogus. If she‘s so concerned for peoples’ health then she should start with her husband…who smokes pot, does drugs, smokes cigarettes, drinks too many alcoholic beverages according to his doctor, and eats heavy meals like the Kobe Beef they keep enjoying in the WH on the tax payer’s dime. The truth is that when Obama took office, many of us knew that we were in for hard times. Seed catalogs, like Burpee, had record sales in 2008. People who could plant vegetables, did so with a vengeance. The Great Depression became a number one hit on Google’s search engine, and “Depression Cooking with Clara” became an over night sensation on Youtube. The Obama admin caught wind of it and had the staff plant a garden and Michelle start lecturing on eating our vegetables to make it appear people were following her, rather than what was actually happening. Michelle Antoinette Obama’s whole campaign on healthy eating is a sham, just like Obama’s whole presidency.

Concerning the fat people: whatever would the world do if people actually got off of their computers, video games, and stopped watching as much television. Oh Gosh. We can’t have that! People might start thinking for themselves instead of letting the MSM decide everything for them.
Concerning joining the military: If a fat kid wants to join the military they can do the same thing my brother and I did when we joined and exercise. For pete’s sake, my brother lost nearly 100 lbs when he made the decision and another 20 lbs during boot camp. If someone has a goal and refuses to WORK towards it then shame on them. No “food desert” is going to get in the way of someone with a spine and some determination.
Concerning Laura Bush’s stand on reading: Her reading initiatives weren’t wasting the amount of money (by any stretch) that Michelle Obama’s are. Her reading initiatives didn’t practically put businesses out on their ear.
Concerning the reading of the Bible(or the Qu’ran, the Talmud, The Vedas, or the Sutras) : I believe that reading is good. Even reading something you don’t believe or or are diametrically opposed with will give you a better footing with your understanding of things. If an atheist can’t handle a bit of reading about something like that then it is to their detriment, not mine. I’m not going to require them to read it. When they come off looking like an idiot spouting off about something out of context I’ll be sure to point it out, though

Report Post »Concerning giving to the poor:
Anyone who ardently supports reading the Bible will be just fine giving to the poor. Most, however, would give more if we weren’t taxed so much. Our government has no business demanding her citizen‘s to pay for someone else’s convenience. There are people who earnestly need work, and there are people who earnestly cannot work. But those decisions should not be made by some tax-sponsored monstrosity. It should not be funded by any organization so beleaguered by politics. This responsibility belongs in the hands of the communities, churches and other charity organizations that these people live amongst and around. If people tire of political figures talking of or reading scriptures pertaining to charity it has little to do with the charity they have for others and more to do with frustration over the government trying to utilize a religious text for their own ends. Anyone who cannot see this is blinding themselves to the truth.

Really, at some point you have to say it isn’t due to lack of information that people don’t “eat healthy” it is because junky food is cheap, tastes good, fast and people no longer have the self-control they used to (for a variety of reasons, one of which is the if it feels good do it mentality)
When you teach people that there are no consequences to their actions, that working hard for something isn’t necessary, blur the line between wants/needs…. that all that really matters is immediate gratification, then obesity is one result.

Well, as diabetes is one of the most widespread diseases in the US right now, and the Tea Party is one of the largest and most diverse movements in the country, it’s highly statistically probable that there are many Tea Partiers with diabetes.
There’s probably a lot of sickle-cell anemia at Louis Farrakhan’s rallies, but is it really socially acceptable or prudent to point out that predominately African-American genetic disease as a derogatory remark as you have above? If you can‘t see what you’ve done wrong in this instance, then diabetes effecting 40% of Americans, including within your own family, is the least of our troubles.

Posted on May 29, 2012 at 11:51amWhat we need is Michelle out of our lives and out of OUR WHITE HOUSE … what a control freak .. little wonder Barry heads to the nearest burger, fries, etc when she is gone … See more of her??? Not me I have loaded up my Kindle with lots of books for the “duration”. and I am VERY fast on the Mute and switch channel.
OMG 2012 … LIBERTY!
The good thing is she is likely to turn off some voters with her NAGGING!

Posted on May 29, 2012 at 11:46amJust think if everyone took her advice and did what she did with regards to planting their own veggie garden in their backyard or South Lawn? Just think of the energy and water use! Just think of the reduced veggie prices because Americans are now eating from their own backyards. Problem is, the price of water would neccessarially skyrocket as a result.

Posted on May 29, 2012 at 11:54amYes .. my neighbor has a veggie garden next door .. and they told me they used double the amount of water they usually do (for their household) because it has been dry here …. I can go to the farm market (open year round 6 days per week – Florida) less than a mile from my home and buy local in season produce … and not double my water bill.

Posted on May 29, 2012 at 12:01pmNot to mention all of those household staff members that you can send out to tend “your” garden at federal government expense…yeah, right! Can’t get those $700.00 designer sneakers muddy now, can you?

Posted on May 29, 2012 at 12:25pmExactly .. anyone think she is in that garden for more than just a photo op? … NO!
Your tax dollars at work . .I would love to know what a veggie actually costs from that sludge garden ..

Posted on May 29, 2012 at 11:44amWhy focus on the real issues facing our nation like debt, spending, wars, and freedoms when we can talk about Michelle Obama.

Posted on May 29, 2012 at 8:51pmThat is an excellent question to ask HER, preferably the next time she obfuscates by dodging those issues and sliding over to food non-choice. SHE is the one who refuses to address the points you just brought up. WE WOULD like her to speak about the issues you listed, so go after HER with those questions! How did you let her turn you around like this! Fight it!

They only talk to her, because she looks like a total pr0stitute, ‘kay? I mean, her butt, is just so big. I can‘t believe it’s just so round, it’s like, out there, I mean – gross. Look! She’s just so … black!”

Posted on May 29, 2012 at 12:10pmExcuse me while I go queue up Weird Al’s version: “I like SMALL butts”. Two points for the Sir Mix-A-Lot reference!
Seriously, though, her arse is approaching the size of the burbs around Chicago. In most cases I would say something about hypocrisy, but we’re well past that point in this discussion.

Posted on May 29, 2012 at 11:42am“Reformulate.” Right. It’s not about telling you what to eat, it’s about removing your ability to make any other choice.

Posted on May 29, 2012 at 11:54amIt would seem to me that the Obama administration is applying this principal across the board, resulting in making the choices for you.
