If you lie, you don’t get trust. If you don’t have trust, your child will rebel when they learn you have lied. America has learned about lying from your husband.
You say there is a problem in Black neighborhoods and you don’t have a safety-net. Try being a real parent. Be responsible. Men, don’t see how many girls you can get pregnant. Women, don’t spread those legs for every man. Get married. Stay married. Get a job. Provide for your family. Teach your child honesty. Love them, and each other. Don’t be abusive. Life and marriage isn’t easy, it takes work, but the rewards are many. It is tough for Black and White, but when you hang a rock around your neck, it’s even tougher. Get over being Black and the fact some of your ancestors were slaves. You live in the greatest country in the world and are free. If this country isn’t for you, you also have the choice to leave.

Factor in that approx. 72 % of black babies are born to single women and only about 47% of kids graduate from high school. The graduation rate is as low as 28% in some inner city high schools. How about the NAACP and Al Sharpton spend some time promoting family values, morality and ethics on TV. All you ever hear form them are the same old complaints about racism causing all the problems in the black community. The problem will never be solved by throwing more money at it. It makes me crazy every time I hear that the school systems are failing the children. The solution starts at home with the parents.

My daddy never told me a lie. I never lost respect, trust, or admiration for him.
Any parent who thinks (s)he can get away with lying to a child is disallusioned.
Oh, they told me there was a Santa, Easter Bunny, and Tooth Fairy, too; but they taught me that they were simply a means of giving presents without getting credit for them. The Tooth Fairy was to make losing teeth not so bad an experience. Santa and celebrating the birth of Jesus were not difficult to put together. Santa delivered toys and filled stockings because that was the way he celebrated Christmas. His toys and fruit, nuts, and candy for children represented God’s gift of Jesus to the world.
I still believe in Santa Claus. Santa is a way to show others the love that God has shown me, and Christmas is every day for me.

However, within the Abrahamic religions, there is a clear definition of God. He is the supernatural creator of everything, and there is no evidence of his existence. You Blazers are so quick to criticize the Muslim faith that you fail to realize the basis for Islam and Christianity is based on an ancient text (containing many lies) written by men thousands of years ago that did not have the knowledge we have today.

This is exactly my point. If people can just make up whatever God means to them then God just really looses all meaning. I cannot say for certain (something that most Blazers don’t have the balls to admit) that there is no God, but the evidence supporting a personal God is just not there. The fact that many people base their faith on a book written by men who believed cutting off the foreskin of an 8 day old child will get them a pass into “heaven” just makes me a little sad.

What you are missing is born again Christians are indwelt by the Holy Spirit at the time of their salvation. For some people this is a minor change and a slow growing process but for many, including me, it was like being hit in the head with a 2×4. We immediately change, we lose our old self and become a new creation. Brother, the Holy Spirit communicates with me guides me and admonishes me. You can call it mental, a conscience, a self-awakening…Whatever you want. But I am living it daily, I walk with God. I know. It is like the Johnny Cash song, I was there when it happened, so I guess I oughta know.
You can keep denying the obvious, that is why God put you here to begin with. He is separating the wheat from the tares. If you deny the obvious and cannot worship your creator then you have no place with Him.

To liken it to an “accident” is a misrepresentation. You cannot say for certain either but the position you take (I am assuming that you are a Christian) is that we are here because a supernatural creator made us with a purpose. Well who made the creator? It is difficult to answer a mystery with a mystery. I am not just some troll trying to stir up problems on this site, I frequent TheBlaze because I believe it is important to hear multiple sides of any argument to come up with a valid conclusion. The point of my original post is that most of the posters were blasting the first lady for lying when they themselves lie to their children.

I am not calling you a troll, and I fully understand your position. You say there is overwhelming evidence that we are here by events of natural selection. Those are very carefully chosen words because no one denies “natural selection” or adaptation within a species. But that does not prove macroevolution and certainly comes nowhere near touching on origins! Why is it, with all of our intelligence and ability, we cannot duplicate the creation of life in a lab? Even if we did, what would it prove? Intelligent design! But we cannot even do that. We cannot show one species evolving into another either, in fact, everything we know just shows us it is an impossibility. This is what led me to Christ in the first place! I always believed in God and Jesus Christ, I was raised a Catholic. But I broke with that church at 16 and never though anything about religion. I learned evolution throughout public school then college. I was a Discover channel addict. Like everyone else, I believed what they told me, that this was all proven. Evolution, life forming from deep water ocean vents, Big Bang…It was not until I seriously looked at the “science” that I found out that what they have been pawning off on the general public as “scientific fact” is anything but. Scientists have no explanation at all, they are against a wall at every turn. Just cell biology alone proves evolution is an impossibility. Life on this planet is devolving, it is in degradation. Animals adapt by a LOSS of genetic information, this is proven science. Ask any dog or fish breeder. Mutations are always harmful and never appear with the frequency needed to bring about any major change in any species, even viruses. And this is only a small discipline in a wide field which constantly shows that evolution is a dead end.
There is no overwhelming evidence, there is nothing, only theory laid upon theory with no underlying fact. Can I “prove” God? Yes! In many ways. There are many facts that point to Him. But you will not accept any of them, at least from me or anyone who is “arguing” with you. I pray that you look into it, open your mind and heart, and really explore the issue…Like I did. But that is up to the Holy Spirit, not me. All I can do is relate my experiences and what I know.

I am not going to try and argue specific points of evolution by means of natural selection because I am not an evolutionary biologist, but I am pretty sure that the theory has not been disproved by cell biology. I would have much more respect for creationism or I.D if they were treated as a scientific theory that could be tested by means of the scientific method but they are not. They are claimed as fact though divine revelation. For the sake of argument, if the theory of evolution by means of natural selection was completely thrown out the window, it does not strengthen the argument of design by God, especially the God of Abraham. I apologize that I inferred you thought I was a troll, I guess I was thrown off by your handle. I am always open to hear new evidence of anything and you would like to present evidence to me, I will listen with an open mind.

And therefore she’s comfortable with that. So this is the way she will bring up her children. Child welfare might take an interest in this one, since Michelle is trying to make tricking your kids and lying to them, standard operating procedure for raising your kids instead of teaching them ethics and morals.

Its good workouts. He has to do them in his karate class anyway. It usually ends with laughing and wishing he would have listened the first time. He knows he has to do chores,,like pick up the dog poo, walk down a long drive way for the mail and other stuff before he can play comp games or veg out.

The whole idea that Americans are overweight, eat too much fat or whatever else is nothing more than liberal incoherency. I see Americans every single day and I don’t see it. The connection between obesity and heart disease is false as one study after another has shown. And if the First Lady says that one fourth of all Americans are disqualified to join the military because of their weight, that too is a lie.
I simply hate it that the First Lady, who is a fatty, suggests that the diet of American children can’t be improved. That’s so much nonsense it makes me sick. How dare her try to force our kids to eat their vegetables.

As far as a parenting tip… glass of water with any junk food you eat, no junk before noon on any day, no soda at all and she had to participate in a sport every year (you don’t have to be great but you do have to try).
You do things because it is best for them…not because it is easy for you.

He was absolutely furious when he saw the ad and is still muttering about it underneath his breath. His main point is that eventually the child will figure it out and that it will damage the trust relationship between the child and parent. Having been lied to by my own parents about important things involving legal issues, I agree 100% with him. I also assured our son that I had never knowingly pulled any kind of fast one on him like that, nor would I. It was actually kind of comforting when he said ” Yeah, I know.”

I think the hardest thing about having a parent intentionally lie to a child is that it raises the question of “What else did you lie to me about?” It undermines the entire relationship. In my mind, it’s also a betrayal. To me, it wouldn’t count that a parent did it for the “good” of the child or as CSI would have it, “motive”. My early assumption (mistaken as it turned out to be) was that my parents loved me and were on “my” side. Delusional as it was, I thought they had my back. Wrong.
Please understand, I’m not talking about a parent covering for a child who has committed a crime or even a parent who is in the heartbreaking position of having to turn a child in for committing a crime. I’m talking about false accusations knowingly made by the parent against the child. I’m talking about factual information being asked for and denied, or being told not to call or visit a terminally ill parent, and after complying with that, being called “uncaring” and other equally hurtful names.
Yeah, that may not be on the same level as having a kid run all over the house looking for a wallet, but Mrs. B.O. should know that it isn’t a “trick”, it’s a “lie”. And if you are going to deliberately lie to your child’s face when they are 8 or 10 about something so small, what about when they are older? No thanks, Mrs. B.O. I’ll pass.

OTOH…Our generation is just not serious about God. Many of us pay Him lip service but few are truly devoted like we should be. We have idols of all kinds, we all do. TV, sports, music, internet…I think these kiddy fairy tale characters are probably the least harmless of the whole lot. That said, we never did any of them in our house and growing up under a Catholic roof my parents never did them to us either. We taught our kids to respect the fact that others believed in them and told them not to ruin the fun but that it was important that they know they are just make believe.
However…After reading your post, I am inclined to agree fully with you. It is idol worship.

My children are 6,5, and 3 and get nothing from Santa or the Easter bunny. They get presents on Christmas, from Mom and Dad and when they ask if Santa is real, we tell them that he is not. We explain where the story came from and how it is just make believe like the cartoons they watch. Our five-year-old questions everything and asks, “Is this on our real earth?” We tell him the truth and he still has a wonderful childhood. He dresses up like Spiderman even though he knows Spiderman is pretend. They are all excited on Christmas Even even thought they know that we are giving them the presents.
I think it is disgusting to lie to your children, for any reason. How will they trust anything you say if you pretend that something is real when it is not? Don’t use the term, “all guilty” unless you happen to know everyone in the world personally. Mrs. Obama is encouraging parents to lie when the mother could have simply said, “I have a dollar if you will run up and down the stairs five times.” Problem solved and with an honest parent who teachers their child honesty and not deceit.

Posted on February 13, 2011 at 5:24pm@ SEASONOFREASON……I believe what IAM4ENOUGHALREADY was meaning in their statement about Jesus is that the New Testament (Mainly about the person and work of Jesus) is the most documented text of the ancient world by such a wide margin that if you combine all other classical works (that I’m sure you do not object to) they still do not posses the textual evidence that the NT indeed possess. All scholars Christian or otherwise agree on that point. Now whether they interpret that information differently typical is determined before they have ever examined the evidence based on their preconceived ideas of Jesus. Also Tacitus, mentioned Jesus in 115 AD and it is widely excepted that the source he obtained his information from was the personal record of Pilate himself stored in Rome’s archival library (subsequently destroyed in the Roman fire started by Nero). So by way of criteria accepted in most courtrooms across the world, his (Pilate’s) eyewitness account would most definitely be admissible proof of Jesus’ existence historically.

As a student, you are aware that Many bible prophecies contain a double meaning. Many can be pointed out in the OT that were fulfilled in way at one point in time concerning an earlier generation and fulfilled in another way concerning the time of Jesus or beyond his time(still future) in another. The context, audience, and history most definitely agree that the meaning for Jesus audience at the time would have been the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple in AD 70 (which most definitely means that that generation did not pass away until Jesus’ prophecies were fulfilled). When the pagan Roman future king Titus and his army destroyed the temple……….. “The slaughter within was even more dreadful than the spectacle from without. Men and women, old and young, insurgents and priests, those who fought and those who entreated mercy, were hewn down in indiscriminate carnage. The number of the slain exceeded that of the slayers. The legionaries had to clamber over heaps of dead to carry on the work of extermination.”[4] Historically, it was noted that not one stone was left on top of another, just as Jesus had prophesied 40 years earlier. Now many, such as I, also believe a future fulfillment of these prophecies in an even greater way as well……….

(Luke 21:20-23) Roman General Titus encircled the city, (later became Caesar) and began the siege of Jerusalem in April, A.D. 70. He posted his 10th legion on the Mount of Olives, directly east of and overlooking the Temple Mount. The 12th and 15th legions were stationed on Mount Scopus, further to the east and commanding all ways to Jerusalem from east to north. On the 10th of August, in A.D. 70 – (the 9th of Av) — in Jewish calendar reckoning, the very day when the King of Babylon burned the Temple in 586 B.C., the Temple was burned again. Titus took the city and put it to the torch, burning the Temple, leaving not one stone upon another.

Whats making me more upset is the money taxpayers are paying for her heathy childern adds. Trying to tell my child how to eat a healthy lunch at school when my child doesn’t even eat the school lunch. – paid for involuntarily by my taxes!!!!!!! Abolish the school lunch program let childern bring their own lunches to school, cut spending Obama!!!! Mrs Obama you are not authorized to spend our tax dollars on neadless gov’t motherhood and apple pie programs, why do things always have to cost billions and billions of dollars that we didn’t authorize you to spend our money!!!!!! Leaders are supposed to set examples, for example – not be overweight themselves, or their husbands not be smokers, marajuanna or former cocaine users.

Posted on February 13, 2011 at 11:46pmI think the most upsetting part of this PSA is that MO is sending the message that she thinks that African American children are not intelligent enough to understand the benefits of exercise and eating well and that African Amercian parents should have no problem with lying to their children or should I say using “cute tips” to get their kids to exercise, How does it go, “the end justifies the means”. Also I want to correct her regardiing her statement that “their are no sporting leagues in black communities. Yes, MO there is. Baseball leagues, hockey leagues, soccer leagues, basketball leagues, etc. offered by schools, and city park and recreation centers and also through private leagues. I know because I was a single parent and my son played on a city baseball team, a school hockey team and cross country team. Maybe better you send a message to parents that in order for their children to participate in a sporting league they will have to sacrifice their time to take their children to practices, games and tournaments. Many children would like to play sports but their parents are unwilling to do their part to support them. Also, police departments don’t send out any less police in a black neighborhood than they do for a white neighborhood, so I am not sure what MO meant when she stated that the black community don’t receive enough public safety. Maybe better she try to send the message that knowledge is power and to stay in school and learn brings more choices later in life for children. Maybe better she spend some of that 10 billion dollars she wants for the “Let’s Move” program on establishing a speaker bureau of successful black entrepreneurs, or those that went on to college or medical school, etc. to speak at schools throughout the country inspiring kids to succeed. It is sad that she always wants to come off as caring about the black community when all she ever does is try to keep them dependent and beholden to the government. I hate to tell her this but there are a lot of very successful black men and women in this country. Stop treating African Americans like they are idiots unable to succeed for themselves. Challenge don’t hinder. Afterall that is what America was built on. And it doesn‘t help to announce to the world that you’ve spent your life ashamed of your country..

Give her a break, we all tell “little white lies”. If my wife buys a horrible looking dress that I don‘t like in the least I’m going to tell her I like it if she asks me. If my wife ask me nonchalantly if she “looks fat” and she does, I’m certinly not foolish enough to tell her “yes”. So you see, we ALL lie just a little bit, it’s human nature and the law of survival.
