Might ‘Narnia’ Actor Liam Neeson Really Convert From Catholicism to Islam?

Actor Liam Neeson Might Convert to Islam

Actor Liam Neeson (AP)

Actor Liam Neeson is known for his high-speed action roles and his voiceover work as the Jesus character “Aslan” in “The Chronicles of Narnia.” But this week, he‘s making headlines for leading some journalists to question whether he’ll make a conversion from Catholicism to Islam. While working on his new film, “Taken 2,” in Istanbul, Turkey, Neeson says that Islamic prayer “got into his spirit.”

The Sun, a tabloid in the United Kingdom, quotes the actor, 59, as saying:

“The Call to Prayer happens five times a day and for the first week it drives you crazy, and then it just gets into your spirit and it’s the most beautiful, beautiful thing.

There are 4,000 mosques in the city. Some are just stunning and it really makes me think about becoming a Muslim.”

This is particularly striking, because Neeson was raised in Northern Ireland, where he was a devout Catholic. In fact, the actor was even named after a local priest, Sun reports.

In the past, the star has spoken about challenges he’s faced regarding his faith. In 2009, his wife, actress Natasha Richardson, tragically died in a skiing accident at the age of 45.

“I was reared a Catholic but I think every day we ask ourselves, not consciously, what are we doing on this planet? What’s it all about?,” he recently said. ”I’m constantly reading books on God or the absence of God and atheism.”

Actor Liam Neeson Might Convert to Islam

Aslan, a character in the popular "Narnia" book and film series

You may recall that, back in 2010, Neeson came under fire for claiming that Aslan, the character in the Narnia films (he is the voice behind the giant feline) is not a symbol of Jesus Christ.

“Aslan symbolises a Christ-like figure but he also symbolises for me Mohammed, Buddha and all the great spiritual leaders and prophets over the centuries,” Neeson said. “That’s who Aslan stands for as well as a mentor figure for kids – that’s what he means for me.”

As you can imagine, these comments didn’t go over well among Christians fans of the film series.

It‘s important to note that he didn’t definitively announce that he’ll be making a conversion. Instead, he said that certain elements of the Islamic faith — mainly prayer — cause him to think about such a change.

I hope the audience in the Middle East is enough to support his career, because he just put a big dent in his western audience. Too bad, because I have enjoyed his movies in the PAST.

Liam was wrong… The Islam in Narnia are the followers of Tash, or the Tashlan… Talamarines… They were counterfeits. They were deceptions.

Aslan is based on Jesus… Who died and was brought back to life. He is the son of God.

Islam teaches that Jesus never died but deceived his own followers, while he escaped… In Islam he is not the son of Allah. Allah has no sons…

Satan is the ‘deceiver’. In Christianity deception is sin. In Islam, deception and Taqiyya is virtue. Allah is described as a ‘Deceiver’ who chooses only those who are worthy and lieing to others who he no longer favors..

In no way can their Allah be the God of Moses. More like the ‘deceiver’ in white robes…

I guess Liam has never heard of C.S. Lewis’ other works besides The Chronicles of Narnia. If he would read C.S. Lewis’ Mere Christianity it might fill in some of the Catholic induced holes in his theological thinking.

Aslan brings stone cold dead hearts back to life by the breath of his nostrils ala the breath of life breathed into Adam in the garden. He then knowingly suffers the penalty for anther’s wrong doing by submitting himself to death at the hands of an evil world. With women who love him looking on, Aslan breaths his last breath and hope for the world seems to die. But the powers that killed him could not understand that his death would open the door to his ultimate victory. He returns to life in power and victory and then returns to where he came from for a time.

Sure Liam, sounds just like Islam and Buddha. No Christianity to see here, just move along.

Really people??? You are going to boycott his movies because he was able to find something beautiful in another religion other than his own? Ho spisated can you all be? I am LDS, but I can find beauty and goodness in all religions. If you are unable to see that then you are as blind s the pharisees in the New Testament. I believe that Islam is false and Mohammed was evil, but that does not mean there are not good aspects, and truth in it. All religions have truth. I don’t agree with his statement about Aslan, but he said it was his oppinion and as far as I can tell, maost people believe like me in the freedom of speech and oppinion. Stop acting so biggoted and close minded. It is statements like i have seen that make people thnk we’re a bunch of crazy Christians.

Remember, Liam, when you do become a muslim all those fatwas the Pope will issue demanding your death for apostasy because the catholic church… oh I’m sorry wrong religion. Well remember, when you marry your nine year old girlfriend you really should wait until she is eleven before you consummate the marriage because… well, I’m not really sure why. But remember, when you find yourself and your house of worship running short of funds you can always attack and enslave your neighbors because that’s what MoHAMmed did and he is the perfect man worthy of emulation.
Sorry, Liam, but you seem to me to be just another poor, rich person with no moral anchor whatsoever. You should give away all your money, blow up your TV, and live like Mother Teresa or buy a sword and start enslaving your neighbors. Or better yet, check yourself into rehab and get a grip on reality. You’re looking kind of rough in that picture.

10% Of Egyptians call themselves Christians. 0.4% of Iranians call themselves Christian. These are 2 examples of countries where, if you call yourself a Christian, you don’t do it to blend in. In-fact, you draw criticism, you draw persecution. Perhaps these are REAL numbers of Christians. Why would it be any higher here in the US? Do you think God is a respecter of persons? Does he have favor over one nation of people more than another? (Besides Israel) I think it’s time Americans fall away from wanting to mask themselves as Christian and stand up for what they truly believe in. Cuz I’m telling you, this country does not behave like we are 80% Christian. They are giving Christianity a bad name. Stand up for what you truly believe in. Quick question, if becoming a Christian has nothing to do with how you were raised but is souly to do with the fact that God came down and chose you, why in the world would America have more Christians percentage wise than other countries? Answer…we don’t.

HE was not much of a CATHOLIC if he would even consider the FAUX God of Islam. Satan is out to corrupt all of us. This is his first method…making us doubt our faith. Several ways to KNOW that Islam is not GOD inspired but satan inspired: GOD would never force anyone to worship Him or kill people for not choosing Him. That is the OPPOSITE of GOD. Then there is the matter of God’s Chosen People, the Jews (which is why GOD so designated Jews – the main reason). GOD would never encourage people to ‘kill His Chosen people” — there are many other “proofs” too …. killing their own kids, enslaving women, sharia law etc.
The mere act of THINKING about GOD 5 x a day is enticing…if it were the REAL GOD. What Liam is reacting to is the “closeness” of being with GOD…. WE would find the same PEACE if we would stop 5 times a day and turn to GOD…but turning to the god of Islam is turning to satan…LOOK AT THE FRUIT, people.

I was transferred to a muzzrat country once and before I was there 24 hours I learned to hate that nasal monotone howling that went on every 4 hours within ear shot of where ever you were. How BO and Neesom could find that nausiating howling beautiful is beyond me. Literally every neighborhood has these loud speakers on top of the mosques that amplify this “fingernail on blackboard” nerve wrecking noise. I was looking for a tater gun to try and blow the speakers off the roof by the 2nd day. Maybe it is the butt up, floor licking stance that draws people like BO to this cult.

That said, he may have identified himself as a Catholic and Christian but he sure as heck didn’t live like one. The things he is saying are typical of someone in the midst of a spiritual crisis. He knew Christ at an earlier time in his life so I highly doubt he will convert to Islam. (and yes, there is plenty of it) But are seriously saying that the prayers they say cannot be viewed as beautiful, or that some of the verses in the Koran cannot be considered as poetry? I am not saying you have to agree with the religion, but not every single aspect of the religion is bad. And yes, there is truth in it too. Not much, but some. Just as there is truth is Buddism, Hinduism, and all religions. You cannot prove me wrong so all you do is claim that I am somehow “astray.” Do you believe that Christ would condemn evey aspect of the religion? Of course He wouldn’t.

Why do defender’s of Islam not suggest we read their “holy” book?
Instead they do what our resident Muslim up there did– quote influential works, or people’s opinions of Islam.
The Muslims, moderate or radical, OWN their book and its history. It is the source of all Islam. The use of this book to justify violence is not some modern Islamist interpretation of it. It was used for this purpose, to justify killing and violence, (and frighten people into submission and “belief”) by Mohammad himself– strangely enough the very one who was getting the messages from God that some killing and violence was necessary and just….

Another weak Catholic. Many of them voted for Obama in ‘08, and many of them will again. That told me there was a problem with their faith. A faith which supposedly is against abortion, yet votes for a late-term abortion proponent, sends up red flags to me.

Many Catholic schools are closing due to dwindling enrollments here in SJ. The Camden diocese just announced that 3 more local schools closing. A local Cath HS (after this years class graduates) will have such a small enrollment that the diocese can no longer justify keeping it open.

Its their own fault, IMO. I went to the mass for my gr-sons baptism. This was before the ‘08 election. The young priest was well liked by the aprishoners. He was not the archetypical, old, staid, Catholic priest. Well, he tried to address the issue of Obama. I listened to him attempt to imply that a vote for Obama would be against Catholic beliefs. He had to be so-so careful as not to offend, that he, in effect, had no effect.
While he was speaking, my son-in-laws gr-mom (understanding what the priest was attempting to say) was banging her leg against the side of mine. You see, she is a devout Democrat. My S-I-L says to never bring up politics to her. He says she does a lot of reading, but I wonder what the hell it is that she reads.

In my opinion, any Catholic who steps inside their church and who votes for Obama is a hypocrite, period! I’m not even religious, but I’m very much against abortion.

The only problem is by the time you add all of the “I D I O T S” in Hollywood, there is no one left! They should worry about thier fans and not try to please each other in Hollywood – sounds like they have a “mutual admiration society” amonst themselves.

In point of view I do not believe these people are Christians but imposters for the most part and one of the reasons (yes I reason) most days I do not want to comment. My comment about the actor is up until these people knew this story they spent their money on his movies (Schindler’s List one of the best). What does this man’s (actor) opinion have to do with my beliefs? None Or theirs? Or yours?

I’m sorry the guy has a problem with his catholic upbringing, and wants to blame God for his misfortune, but islamic 5x a day prayer won’t help him in this regard. Get on your own knees and pray to our Father, which is in Heaven if you want relief.

Maybe the call to prayer anthems sound soulful and cool, but read the Quran and tell me you will kill infidels if they do not convert. Did they threaten him already in a country where they are strong? If he can change because of the call to prayer of the Muslims, then his faith was not that strong to begin with in my book. We don’t need some musical outburst to call us to prayer as we can get down on our knees and prayer to our God at any time of the day, not at scheduled times. You better think twice about that one.

The lure of the exotic and showy Islam has enamored many British and is becoming a worrisome trend in that post-Christian land and unless things change radically, Britain will become Islamic within 50 years. I hope he realizes his Christian faith has the answers he needs and rediscovers his inner strength. The character he depicted, Rob Roy, in the famous duel scene here, could be a great model for him.

In many verses of the Glorious Qur’an Allah the Exalted denied the claim of the Christians that He has a son. A delegation from Nagran came to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). They began to talk about their claim about the Trinity, which is that Allah is three in one, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, with some disagreement among their sects. That is why Allah affirmed in many verses of the Qur’an that Jesus is a slave of Allah, whom He molded in the womb of his mother like any other of His creatures, and that He created him without a father, as He created Adam without a father or a mother.

Allah the Almighty said: Allah chose Adam, Noah, the family of Abraham and the family of Imran above the Alamin (mankind and jinns)(of their times). Offspring, one of theo other, and Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

Remember when the wife of Imran said: ”O my Lord! I have vowed to You what (the child that) is in my womb to be dedicated for Your services (free from all worldly work; to serve Your Place of worship), so accept this, from me. Verily, You are the All-Hearer, the All Knowing.”

Then when she delivered her (child Mary), she said: ”O my Lord! I have delivered a female child,” and Allah knew better what she delivered, - ”and the male

Mosques are like rats, they‘re everywhere and the’re full of rodent turds.
I despise the call to prayer. It’s annoying and grates on your ears.
What kind of religion needs an “alarm clock” to remind you it’s time to pray?
Prayer is supposed to be personal communication with God.
If I were a God and people claiming to worship me had to resort to this ‘reminder’ to communicate with me they would be smitten off of the face of the Earth.
I look at this the same as I do the holidays. Why should I give only because it’s some holiday?
What about the rest of the year? If you truly care for someone you give them things because you want to, not because it’s required.

Muslims rape, kill steak and subjigate. this is simple truth. to deny this or try to gloss over it with kumbaya song lyrics or mentality is suicide. I have come to the conculsion that some people do not want nor deserve freedom, and the constitution does not come close to trumping the laws of nature. muslims do not tolerate. they will rape your women and behead your men. there is nothing ‘chrisian’ nor intelligent about denying this fact. and if the christian god would allow them to do this and force us to ‘love or submit and not fight back, then i have no use for the christian god. what you see has ‘hatred’ I see as Truth.

Answer? Hell no. What he eats doesn’t move my bowels.

Well lookie here, my innocuous comment has drawn some anonymous trolls to toss in a few jabs.

      Cute.

      Kitsune and RightUnite.

How cute. You even have cute little names.

Van Jones is a little BOY compared to my mental stature. I do not subscribe to his ideology.

Hey RightUnite, you just came out of gay field with that BS. So I’ll just come right out and ask you.

Are you gay? Because I’m not and that gay $#!T is repulsive to me. You need to go take off that feather boa, I don’t get down like that. My “boy toy” is for women only. No swordfighting.

@V-Man Mace: I agree that what he eats doesn’t matter to me either. But you going all out about being a homophobe is sad. The majority of homosexuals do nothing to you and you just stab them like that? I’m sure there are more homosexuals out there that do more for their local community than you do. I have about one homosexual friend, at least one that came out of the closet, and he is literally the nicest person you’ll ever meet. He doesn’t impose his homsexual desires onto others. As a matter of fact he chooses not to so that others do not feel awkward around him. You need to grow a pair of balls and not be such a dick to people you clearly don’t even understand. I’ve met many homosexuals and they all were just as nice, if not nicer than any heterosexual. You are right on many points that I’ve seen, but this is not one of them.

ROTFLMFAO @ you calling me a homophobe because I said their actions are repulsive to me.

      Wow.

That’s a pretty large stretch. I‘d even go as far as to say you’re trying to demogogue and slander me.
I didn’t stab them, I just said their sexual actions are repulsive to me because I’m a heterosexual male. If they take that personal, then that’s their prerogative, they’re entitled to their opinion. I’m entitled to mine. They can do what they want, I had to make dude aware to stop making sexual advances towards me because that’s not how I roll, talkin about boy toys and all that flamboyant garbage.

I’m sure there are more homosexual community-advocates that do more for homosexual communities than you do for your homosexual community. No skin off my nose.

I don’t think you should be mentioning balls and dick to me. That’s sexual harassment.

You go, girl. Three snaps in a circle. I think you and your boy-friend’s encounter went something like this
