Could it be they had a wood furnace and went out throughout the spring, summer, and fall to collect wood for the winter. I say it’s time for people to take responsibility for their own lives and quit waiting for the government to come to the rescue. Since I do not advertise, or have a price list set in stone, I have for several years priced union workers at a higher rate. They can afford it. They don’t need any price breaks. Once, a few years ago, I did some studying on pricing, and complaints about pricing, and the union pukes were the ones complaining the most about high prices. They want the best benefits, the highest wages, and the lowest prices.

Posted on February 28, 2011 at 4:18pmJoe was trying to point out that the current “Baby Boomer” generation is approx. to 3 times larger than the current generation that has to pay into Social Security to pay benefits for the “Boomer” generation. It has been in the news for decades and the Politicians have done nothing to fix it. Progressives have let this problem become a crisis because if it does cause physical warfare or “riots” then the President in power can declare an Emergency that would require the states to mobilize their National Guard to keep order.
It is why when George Bush Sr. after the “Cold War” was declared over moved a lot of Active Duty military into the Reserves and National Guard and changed the way the Guard is mobilized for use. We now use the Reserve and Guard in ways that they were never originally intended and it is wearing them down. I wonder what “Force” Obama was calling for when he made a call for one to work inside the borders of the United States.

Study after study has shown that when the father is not present in the home that those families not only make up a large portion of the poor but also the children raised in that setting typically perpetuate the same condition as they get older as well. This is the problem not the selfishness of the middle class or some perceived unfairness. This is also a problem no amount of programs or wealth redistribution can or will fix. Simple as that. How do these self proclaimed intellectuals miss the nose on this countries face time and time again.

But how did we get into such a mess so quickly – what has been done in the last eight years to get us to this point. We have to be honest and admit that it began with bailing out Wall Street – bailing out Wall Street from some obvious practice that were not exactly honest. So we bailed out Wall Street and they are back to making multi-million dollar bonuses as if nothing happened to them. My question is why are so many of these very people involved with the current administration and why aren’t some of them in jail. My next question is why are we still tied to foreign oil – so when anything happens in the Middle East it effects the price of our oil. We have talked for YEARS about not being dependent on foreign oil and here we are again. It is time that we start looking for oil and other fuel in this country. It stands to reason that Bush was part of the problem but so had been Obama, we should be looking into OUR own oil, and some middle class programs need to be -reevaluated and adjusted however I would take that further and say that a lot of entitlement programs across the board need to get either cut or at least seriously de-fanged.

I grew up POOR and WE had oil heat when others had natural gas.. I work with the poor, for a Christian organization and want to add that another huge problem (at least in my state) is what is often called the “poor tax”. Most of the poor DO NOT want to be that way, the system makes it very difficult for them to move up most of the time. For instance, is someone requests help for rent, they must first receive an eviction notice, if they request help with heating, they must first have a shut off notice. Obviously that type of behavior makes their credit rating go way down, makes it harder to get other housing and they are charged large deposits any time they need to start a new utilty, phone etc, they can never get a decent deal on insurance. In addition, in Michigan there is something called the “driver responsibility fee” added to most traffic tickets. If they are not able to pay the fee (they are quite high in many case, sometimes more than $1000, or higher). they lose their license, most keep driving because believe it or not, most actually have a job, it just does not pay well…. in no time they get pulled over again, and now they have litterally $1,000′s in fees. The fees may as well be a million because they can’t pay it. I am all for paying for your mistakes, if you get a ticket, you deserve the fine… BUT if you only make minimum wage it becomes almost impossible…. if you have a decent job to begin with, you can pay the fee, you may not like it, but you CAN pay it. I don’t live in a place where public trasportation is available except Monday-friday, 9-5, this does not fit the low income job schedule! Moving to a bigger town is not a relastic option for most either, keep in mind, they will have to pay huge deposits on any new place, new utilities etc.
Don’t get me wrong, I am not for givng the poor more of other peoples money, not at all! God did NOT tell the government to take care of the poor, He told the church to take care of the poor. That is because we the church (and all Christians and Chrisitan agencies, like my employeer) can help them, not by giving them money, but really HELP them get out of the place they are in. Help them learn new skills, (like how to budget, most have no idea) gain better employment, make lasting changes. The governemnt enslaves them in entitlement, it does not help them in the long run, never has and never will.
