Mika: We‘ll Have ’Class Warfare on its Worst Levels‘ if Rich White Men Don’t Contribute More

Speaking about the budget crisis on Morning Joe this morning, Mika Brzezinski said that rich white men need to contribute more to the budget solution. Otherwise, our society will have “class warfare on its worse levels.”
Joe Scarborough, the show’s co-host, was in the middle of explaining that ”middle class entitlements…are going to bankrupt this country,” when Mika chimed in with her own two cents:
I just don’t understand why with top earners doing better than ever, why they can’t be a part of this equation. . . . And if you looked at the New York Times yesterday, and you saw the top 30 earners, and how much money they are making all over again, including some of the people who drove us into the ditch – all white men, by the way, just one woman – and I didn’t see any African-Americans – I think we have a problem that we need to address as a society.
She went on to say that the country will have “class warfare on its worse levels” if these top earners do not contribute more. Contribute more how? By taxes, of course. Mike Barnicle, speaking on the show, suggested raising taxes on those who earn $250,000+ a year–and Mika eagerly agreed this is what President Obama should do. (h/t Newsbusters).

Now show the graph of the income level of all those bums that are receiving all of the benefits from the government. So if you are saying that the top 5% make 50% of the money and should pay 50% of the taxes, you are talking about a tax cut are you not? The top 50% of tax payers (according to IRS report for the year 2009), pay over 80% of the taxes.

Top 30 earners aren’t $250.000. That’d be several orders of magnitude off. And it’s true, all these people ARE white, and 29 out of 30 are men, and most of them work on Wall Street or have very close ties to Wall Street. So what she said is inaccurate in what way exactly?

And they don’t understand that wealth is not just what comes out of the ground, but capital as well – there is no such thing as a default or “fair” value, because it becomes more efficient to produce wealth the more individuals contribute to innovations. For example, it’s naturally going to be cheaper to buy food from the guy who has a shovel, than to buy it from the guy who only uses his hands, because the guy with tools can produce more food, which lowers his costs of production.

Obama, by reducing the amount of oil drilled in The Gulf helped to reduce the supply of oil. Being that demand continues to go up and the supply has been reduced the price goes up. If we “drill baby drill” and increase the supply, the price goes back down.

Have a net worth tax on everything and everyone, corporations, banks, University foundations, acorn, Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, churches, trusts, unions, and anything else you can possibly think of. And then the next year you eliminate the income tax and replace it with a consumption tax combined with a smaller asset tax. All of this would be predicated on no further borrowing by the government and limiting government expenditures per year of 18% of GDP. Happy days are here again!

Furthermore should I suggest that the lower 50% of the employees will not be required to add their share to the pot but they will still be able to collect from the just and equitable division of the spoils..err… voluntary contributions? And should I then suggest that despite their objections the plan will take effect because they just aren’t smart enough to understand the benefit to society derived from this plan? History shows us that the government gets 17-19% of GDP, no matter what the tax rate is, so why not set our taxes at 20%, with a minimum start amount per person. 12K for the first, 5k for each added person in the household, with the married family getting 24K for them and 5k for each added. After this amount, everyone pays 20% flat tax, and zero corporate taxes, since that just gets passed on down to the bottom consumer, and hurts the ones at the bottom. Either this or the Fair Tax, would work far better.

I am 63 years old and I started working at 15. I have never been unemployed for more than 1 month in all those years. Get some experience, get a trade, get a life!
First, if money for college was harder to come and students had to work for it, the students might take their education more seriously and also if very few could afford $100,000 for college, the price of college would drop due to the number of students able to attend would be less. (Supply & demand)
Go read the Declaration Of Independence, (including the preamble) and the Constitution and see the purpose of our government. It is NOT the job of the federal government to redistribute wealth, buy you a house, a car, a college education or your next beer. Their job is to protect OUR FREEDOMS and defend our borders. Something many of the past Presidents have refused to do.
