‘Militant!’: Current TV Host Goes Nuclear on Obama Admin for al-Awlaki Drone Strike

During a Tuesday broadcast of Current TV’s “The Young Turks With Cenk Uygur,” the show’s host had something of a mini-meltdown as he discussed the details of the military drone strike responsible for the deaths of top al-Qaeda official Anwar al-Awlaki and al-Awlaki’s 16-year-old son.

“Would you believe me if I told you that there was a U.S. teenager who grew up in Denver, who was executed without a trial with a drone strike?” Uygur shouted.

“Well, you might believe me if I told you ‘yeah, he was Muslim and he happened to be in Yemen and he was 16-years-old and he was the son of Anwar al-Awlaki.’ Now does that make it any better?” he, again, shouted.

Uygur then showed a Fox exclusive video of the 16-year-old boy.

“Militant?” the Current TV host yelled. “Militant! And you’re going to give a medal to the guy who killed him for bravery? When he was sitting in New Mexico or wherever he was and when he pushed the button?”

Seriously, do Uygur’s headphones need to be turned up? We can hear just fine. Please stop shouting.

“You know our government won’t even tell us if we meant to kill him or not!” he added.

“When Eric Holder was asked to explain [why a 16-year-old was killed in the drone strike] he said ‘well, it’s okay. We don’t have to give these guys trials. Due process is not necessarily judicial process,’” Uygur said. “‘In other words, we got together at the executive branch and decided bombs away!’” he added.

      I agree with you! The “father” should NOT have had his son with him knowing that he himself is in danger and yet put his son dangers way. Because of the choice he made, his son dies as well. ALSO if you have your AMERICAN passport, I’m paraphrasing here “if you take up arms or join an foreign military, you relinquish your citizenship.” So as far as I’m concerned, Anwar al-Awlaki is no longer an AMERICAN citizen, so he’s free game!!

      It’s call guilt by association! The son was getting on the job training. I’m sure the guy that sent in the droan would rather have a bonus on his pay check than a stupid medal. At Johnson & Johnson we had machine operators making $7.50 an hour and other operators making $15.00 an hour – it was called a incentive system and it worked pretty good. This was in Texas back in the 80′s.

      You certainly are paraphrasing. Being guilty of treason is much different than relinquishing one’s American citizenship, especially for a 16 year old. Our constitution is all about due process.
      I don’t know if Al-Awlaki’s son was an American who had taken up arms againtst America. Too late to find out now, isn’t it?

      It’s easy to give free speech and due process to Americans we agree with or like. Once we deny those rights to American’s we have difficulties with, we deny them to ourselves.

      This liberal is a idiot. That said, flying drones and killing people with drones as you sit in some bunker on US soil is not a brave act. People who fly drones should not be given medals for battlefiled bravery. If you wanna call Afghans who use IED’s cowards (which is a fair statement) then the people who kill with drones are also cowards.

    I have ambivalent feelings about this. I understand the constitutional question of killing an enemy combatant who is American and his son without due process. My son is on active duty in the Army. I would not trade his life to apprehend al-Awlaki and al-Awlaki’s 16-year-old son.

      He could have been tried in absentia. If they had done that I would have gone after him myself. But this is nothing more than murdering a US citizen. No hearing. No trial. No evidence. No conviction. Just ONE man’s say so.

      NEVERMIND First Off BY YOUR LOGIC Obama didn’t kill Osama either but he takes credit for that all the time. Secondly I don’t have a problem with killing terrorists and understand there will be collateral damage, but I believe this person is claiming Anwairs son was NOT A TERRORIST but an innocent American citizen who’s father was a terrorist. I don’t have a problem with that but would think the anti-torture libs would be going nuts. Thirdly the problem I have with all this was when Bush was doing similar things to protect American lives the Libs and OBAMA where constantly harping about terrorist rights etc. Remember Obama was going to close Gitmo?     I am a Hard Core Conservative and I am retired Military spending a majority of my time hunting terrorists clowns down, BUT I must agree with this story… I have said it before and will say it again, Alawki was an AMERICAN citizen who has rights of due process. Now my idea is bring charges on him, invite him to court, if he does not show up, that is his CHOICE, bring up the charges against him, either find him guilty or innocent, then if guilty, sentence him, if to death then go shoot amissle at him, and if there is collateral damage, well they knew they were riding with a man sentenced to death….BUT at least he would have due process!!! Alot of my military friends disagree with me on this, but as an AMERICAN, I would hope I would get due process before the gov. send folks to get me, which is what may happen in the future when they want to disarm or silence desent…

    Just my opinion on this, and NO it owuld not matter if the President who ordered this was Dem, Rep, Ind, Lib, Green whatever party, I would still think the same way…….

    Anwar al-Awlaki should have be captured, tried and then put to death. If he resisted upon arrest and was violent our office could have killed him as a result of self defense.

    We don’t send bomb on our own US civilians. He had the right to due process than to be executed after a trail. This can not be justified. Not even mention the 16 year youth who was being indoctrinated and giving no chance to refute or repent from his fathers leadership.

      Obama created a dilemma for himself when he postured to the left about closing Gitmo and never closed it. Where’s he going to put these high value prisoners when they come over from Rendition (yes Barry preserved the policy he railed against Bush for)? There’s no other place to put them but Gitmo but if he puts them in there he looks like a laughing stock. So “tough guy” Barry chooses to kill them instead..depriving us of potentially valuable intelligence. Without being privy to the military’s decisions I suspect this is why Barry ordered “kill not capture” on OBL.
      This is why David Axelrod attended the “kill list” meetings. What possible reason does a campaign advisor have to be attending those high level meetings other than using them for political reasons?

      I know I have puposly been trying to ‘avoid’ alot of the news. Just to take a few steps back from it, to allow for a broader perspective of everything. But, what happened to cause the president to want gay dogs??? I haven’t heard the slightest thing about this… Did they start getting “fertalizer” from Blue Plains again?       Exactly. But remember, with this Marxist regime it only matters that “the ends justify the means”. It’s stuff like this that (I believe) is being used to change the thinking of people to “more accept” the NDAA and the Patriot act. I relate it to the taste of coffee. When most people first taste it, it seems bitter…..but after a while not only is it a necessity for normal function, it becomes acceptable. Put more bluntly, it may be difficult for some people to see through the bad principle because of the Muslim aspect.

      Now, if the kid was what they say he was then we should have been able to make a better case and reasoning to achieve the same result through lawful principle without relying on the convenient, but unconstitutional dictates.

      We are all getting to taste test and approve of our own potential poison.

      Here a nudge, there a nudge……….soon, anyone who’s a “prepper” will be designated as a domestic terrorist and “Muslim” won’t have any bearing on the decision to attack or apprehend indefinitely.

      Three drone attacks in Yemen Friday night killed seven suspected militants including Anwar Al-Awlaki’s son, a security official said.

      Carried out in the Shabwa district, where the younger Awlaki had been holed up for more than eight months, the attack comes just weeks after the September 30 strike that killed the senior Al-Awlaki.

      The attack was confirmed by a senior security official in Yemen through CNN, who said he had first hand knowledge of the deaths, but was not authorized to speak to the press.

      President Obama hailed the September attack as a “major blow” against the al Qaeda terrorist group, but has not yet made an official response to yesterday’s attack.

    It does not matter who is in the White House. This is wrong. American citizens deserve due process and this is not it.

      He was deprived his rights. I don’t know he was guilty. I know the liar in the WH said he was. Such blatant disregard for natural law by today’s politicians is disturbing.

      Agreed. Anwar al-Awlaki should have be captured, tried and then put to death. If he resisted upon arrest and was violent our office could have killed him as a result of self defense.

      We don’t send bomb on our own US civilians. He had the right to due process than to be executed after a trail. This can not be justified. Not even mention the 16 year youth who was being indoctrinated and giving no chance to refute or repent from his fathers leadership.

      This is not right.

      Richiemond, did Anwar al-Awlaki deserve to die. You bet, but this used to be a country based on law. That law was ignored for his 16 year old son. Doubt that we would have executed him here for the act of his father when he was 5. When they whiz the missile in your window because the current president decides in his eyes that you are a terrorist, hope your fellow citizens are good with it.

      Richiemond, Did the people slaughtered at the Boston Massacre get due process? No, but the founders believed the British soldiers who were responsible deserved a fair trail. It’s a right, dude. “I know that justice is indivisible. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” .
