Minnesota House Speaker Apologizes After Preachers Shock Prayer Takes Shot at Obamas Faith

Fox News:

A controversial, anti-gay pastor was invited by Rep. Ernie Leidiger, a Republican from Mayer, Minn., to start Friday morning’s session with a prayer at the Minnesota House, drawing anger and criticism from both sides of the aisle, MyFox9.com reports.

Bradlee Dean ended his prayer saying, “It’s not about the Baptists, not about the Catholics alone, or the Lutherans, or the Evangelicals, or any other denomination, but rather the head of the denomination, and his name is Jesus, as every president up until 2008 has acknowledged and we pray it in Jesus’ name.”

House Majority Leader Kurt Zellers took responsibility and immediately apologized after Dean’s opening prayer, calling for a restart, asking the regular House chaplain to say another prayer.

“I denounce him, his actions and his words. A person like that will never, ever be allowed on this House floor again as long as I am speaker,”  Zellers said.

TPM:

Bradlee Dean — the controversial preacher who on Friday questioned President Obama’s Christianity in a prayer on the Minnesota House floor — went on his radio show Saturday to say his prayer “didn’t have anything to do with Obama.”

Dean was blown away by the response to his prayer, he said on his radio program, Sons of Liberty. “I went into them chambers with total respect [sic],” he said. “I feel like Martin Luther, innocently nailing the 95 theses on the wall, and I’m not even Catholic.”

Minnesota House Speaker Apologizes After Preachers Shock Prayer Takes Shot at Obamas Faith

At one point, a caller from Minneapolis challenged Dean to admit he was, in fact, referring to Obama. “That’s splitting hairs,” Dean responded.

“I didn‘t say we weren’t a Christian nation, Obama did,” Dean said. “If you want to point the finger at someone denying Christianity in our country, you might want to talk to Obama about it, because I didn’t say it.”

StarTribune:

House DFLers are upset that a legislative journal scrubbed mention of the controversial religious leader who gave a divisive prayer before Friday’s floor session.

Democrats on Saturday wanted to know why the Journal of the House, the historical record of the day’s legislative work, had no mention of pastor Bradlee Dean offering the prayer. Dean had said that Jesus Christ is the “head of the denomination … as every president up until 2008 has acknowledged.”

“I am not trying to make this a difficult thing, but I think it’s important to have this civic discussion,” said DFL Rep. Terry Morrow, who questioned the omission of Dean’s name on the House floor.

Isn’t this the state which elected a Muslim to Congress? Isn’t this the state who voted for Obama? I listen to nothing that such a blind, unimformed populace like we have in Minnesota says!

President Obama has said he is a Christian, he has attended church for twenty years now, having been raised in a spirtual, but not religious home. He should be taken at his word. I’ve also read a number of your comments, I wonder, would Jesus recognize his teachings in them?

Catholic daycare, grade school and high schools will also close. If you do not believe me, then you are not paying attention. It is all in the legislation and regulations that are being passed. But one of the other things that is happening in the Catholic church is that a schism is forming. The New American Catholic church will be declaring independence in the not too distant future from the Roman Catholic Church. This new church will accept women priests, abortion, homosexuality, and “liberation theology” as the foundation of their beliefs. You may have already made a choice. Perhaps you are part of the New American church. If you are not, search your heart because soon….very soon you will be seeing the schism taking place and you will need to make a choice. You will also need to make a choice of whether or not you will suffer for your Roman Catholic faith — if that is the faith that you believe in.

Again, I say, obama does not believe in a country where Catholics are free to worship openly and freely.

One last comment and it is a very important comment that I haven’t seem people address. Does anyone realize what really happened here? The legislature opened its session… and then denies it and just erased the entire prayer/opening from the record as if it didn’t happen. VERY SIGNIFICANT AND YOU CAN BET THAT YOU WILL BE SEEING MORE OF THIS KIND OF RE-WRITING OF HISTORY! That, to me is perhaps the most frightening part of this whole story.

      DESERTROSE1960 ~

You said “He should be taken at his word.” Simple question… why? Matthew 7:20 “Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.” We do not recognize him. Pres. Obama could also declare that he is 4′ 8″, and even though I would not be able to run up to him with a tape measure, I‘m pretty sure he’s taller than that. He can call himself a Christian all he wants but for the many Americans who consider this to be of significant importance, it is no where good enough.

I agree with all three of your points.
1- About Catholic Churches and schools…..the churches here in S Jersey are mostly re-organizing to accomodate the large Mexican population. As well, there is a problem with a lack of priests coming into the Catholic religion. Catholic schools are closing by the fistful.
My son-in-laws family votes Democratic, and is a perfect example of the decay in the Catholic church. Your point of the church splitting is not something I had considered, but is an interesting thought. The the Catholic church cannot go on like it is.

2- Obama doesn’t believe in this country as originally constituted. Period! Only people from Minnesota would believe that.
3- The re-writing of American History has been going on for decades. This is jus tthe latest example.

Those politically-correct representatives in Minn. should be so offended by an obviously anti-American President…for his “for the first time proud of America” wife… for his creating “czars” such as Communist V Jones…and for having a racist in charge of the DOJ.

Staythecourse…..I meant to say I had ‘not’ considered the Catholic Church splitting. It would be interesting to see how would happen. In my opinion, the White Catholics are very weak in their beliefs. Many vote for the Dems. How they can profess to be against abortion, then vote for an abortionist, is unbelieveable to me.
Before the ‘08 election, my Son-In-Laws gr-mom was sitting next to me in church. The yough priest was attempting suggest that there was an abortionist running for Pres, and that maybe, just maybe, the congregation might consider that at the polls. He didn’t use those words, as he had to be VERY careful to not preach politics. The funny part (which backs up my point as to the weakness of the Catholics’ belief system) was while the priest was making a pathetic appeal to his flock, the gr-mom was wacking her leg against mine in amusement. She is an ardent Democrat!

      @CrackerSmurf

      Indeed, you are correct.

The Blaze has apparently decided comments on Obama are unrelated to the topic and deleted my original comment that was posted as the first reply under valarie’s leading post at 2:34pm, which you referenced. So I posted a related comment containing the info that you noted, under a second post and included it here for you as well.

The Blaze has recently reduced comment length initially to 3000 and then now to only 1500 characters. In addition I’m told by support staff that they are trying to fix a glitch that often truncates posts to approximately 1455 characters. One needs to be careful when posting so as not to have their comment appear incomplete, especially when posting links.

Here is the information again, just in case the anonymous Blaze moderator on duty decides to continue engaging in excessive selective censorship beyond the rules established for comments on the site, which are supposed to applied uniformly to all.

The Art 2, Sec 1, exemption from being a NBC, “or a citizen of the United States …” wasn’t needed if NBC means just a citizen!

Each authoritative definition of a NBC stipulates citizen parents (plural). First Congress, Ses II, Chp 3, Sec I, 104, 1790: “the children of citizens.” Bingham, House floor, 1866: “of parents not owing allegiance.” Supreme Court, Minor v. Happersett, 1874: “of parents who were its citizens.” Senate Res 511, 2008: “born to American citizens.”

      @CrackerSmurf

As a point of clarification to my reply to your essentially correct comment, let me also add this caveat.

Senate resolution 511 of 04-03-2008, ostensibly meant to establish McCain’s eligibility as a natural born citizen, was co-sponsored by Obama.

Perhaps John McCain failed to challenge Obama for not being a natural born citizen, because he possibly also failed to meet the natural born citizen eligibility requirement. McCain was born in Panama while his father was stationed at the Canal Zone as a Naval officer. However it is suspected that he was actually born in a Panama City hospital, rather than on the Naval base which is considered American soil.

Rather than compelling McCain to produce his birth certificate which would verify birth location and parentage, they assumed birth on base and emphasized that his parents were citizens. It is highly suspicious that the author of this resolution, Senator Claire McCaskill (D) who actually tried to outlaw criticism of Obama in Missouri during the campaign, felt no similar compunction to investigate Obama.

The strategic likely hood is that that the resolution was actually a preemptive defensive shot across the bow of McCain‘s campaign warning him not to raise Obama’s failure to qualify as a natural born citizen, as he also faced the same requirement of being a natural born citizen, meaning born in the U.S. of citizen parents as enshrined in the Constitution.

Obama’s father precluded his being a “natural born citizen” meaning born on U.S. soil of U.S. citizen parents; he is further ineligible by dual citizenship for being born a British citizen pursuant to the British Nationality Act of 1948, as his father was a British citizen of colonial Kenya.[1]

The Art 2, Sec 1, exemption from being a NBC, “or a citizen of the United States …” wasn’t needed if NBC means just a citizen!

I thought Christianity was all about your HEART, not what you are wearing. Who’s to judge but God? I understand the respect thing and wearing clothes that reflect that… but how you can judge a man’s heart by his clothes?

      You’re joking, right?

You and others like you seek to complain all the time, never seeing anything of value outside your own heads. And you dare claim you’re somehow of treasured substance?

And airheads like you wonder why the guy or girl you last slept with didn’t phone again?

While it feeds your sick ego to condemn others based on little things like their clothes, maybe the real issue is that you just don’t qualify where and when the rubber meets the road.

      Pffft!

Just goes to show that if anyone claims to love Jesus and have a direct line to God, someone out there will believe and follow them. Doesn‘t matter if they’re Billy Graham, Joel Olsteen, David Koresh, Eddie Long, Ted Haggard, Jim Jones, or Glenn Beck, there are groups of people that have to believe and like to follow. They call them “flocks”, right? If one can capitalize on the tendencies of the herd mentality, it’s actually a good way to bring in lots of personal, material gain… and tax free!

Why must non-believers feel the need to attack those that do believe? As usual the left has zero tolerance for people that do not conform to their world view. The most intolerant people there are, trying to limit speach and destroy those they disagree with. So typical ! Go back to reading your books on the “theory” of evolution. I also do not respect the politicians that buy votes with our tax money. Clearly most of the post here are not those of genuine Christians. You do not have the love of Christ in your heart. You worship at the alter of hatred. You tithe to the God of Hate with your posts here.

Clearly also this isn’t about religion, because you can hardly know what is in another’s heart. It’s hatred of anyone you perceive to be different from you. You hate Obama because he would help the poor rather than the rich (see the New Testament on that point). You hate a man who seeks peace, not through arms, but through negotiation and compromise.

I simply do not see post from true Christians here, only false Christians wishing to spread their doctrine of hate.

THANK GOD there are people standing up and NOT bowing the knee to the false religeons and idolatry, attempt to blur the lines that the Bible clearly show are black and white……..’THOU SHALL HAVE NO OTHER gods BEFORE ME”……..and

as Elijah bravely declared, “Choose you this day WHO you will serve”!!!

The lines are being very clearly drawn. Apparaently this man has more courage than ANY OTHER PERSON-ALL OF THE ELECTED OFFICIALS THAT WERE PRESENT!!!

There is a reason that people are becoming so easily offended, it’s because we are moving into the last days of this dispensation, we need to pray and support those that are bold enough to stand and deliver the word of the Living God.

Thank God he chose NOT to compromise of bend to be COMFORTABLE for those there that do NOt have a clues ABOUT WHAT GOD IS SAYING AND DOING NOW……..he was a light in the midst of darkness!!!!

Make it plain preacher!!! Way to go, may God greatly bless you and your ministry!!

“I denounce him, his actions and his words.”
Well, I believe that it needs to work this way:

“We denounce both sides of the Minnesota House, their actions and their words.”

Only this can be rectified during elections and we can elect Godly men and women to serve in the Minnesota House allowing God to be able to bless Minnesota and it’s people.

It is past time putting our foot down, Obama is like Nixon I can do what I want, say what I want “I am the President.” every one knows what happened to him. If we let this man destroy our relationship with Israel we will are guilty. Obama in his speech said America, the United States wants the borders taken back to 1967, the truth he speaks for himself not Americans, He wants this he is anti Israel and anti American.

The ones that should be censured are those that are squealing like stuck pigs about what the Pastor said. He, the Pastor was absolutely correct!
When is this country going to put it’s foot down and stand for our founding fathers stood for?

‘Endowed by our Creator’..doesn‘t necessarily mean ’Jesus’ to everybody. It’s a belief in a power greater than yourself. The founders were wise. Obama might be a Christian or not. Maybe even a Muslim. But tradition has us as a Christian nation. And a majority of Americans are. So be it.

It is now quite clear that Obama is showing his pro Muslim side. Fun fact: Muslims don’t eat pork…right? I am working at a Pharma Facility in NC that makes gel caps for many different drugs…I.E. Ibuprofen, Niquil..etc. The geletin for the cap is composed of powdered cow and “pig” bones….it doesn’t say that on the ingredient list. How many Muslim’s have unknowenly taken these? What a hoot.

Hilarious! Jesus did stuff like that and they crucified HIM.
      Just saying…..

“I denounce him, his actions and his words. A person like that will never, ever be allowed on this House floor again as long as I am speaker,” Zellers said.

Zellars clearly hates freedom of speech. But Common’s White house invite goes unchallenged.

OK Christians time to up the anti. We need to use loving truth to make these pagans froth at the mouth- BUT NO APOCALYPSE PREDICTIONS PLEASE.

      @ JZS

One should voluntarily help the poor out of the goodness of their heart. Confiscating another’s money is not the way. Your beloved socialism does nothing to help the poor. I refer you to the socialist countries where the masses are kept ‘happy” with the handouts the government gives them while the leaders live posh lives . It’s all about power, we prefer the people to have the power and you the government.
BTW, liberals are always the worst at making donations, prefering to be the takers. For me, one who takes government ( our) money and not truly needing it are doing nothing but stealing from those that do.
While I am not to judge ones soul , I indeed must judge ones actions.

So the Prez says that we are not a nation of Christians, yet each state session begins with a prayer…..a prayer to whome???? The hypocrisy and denial in this baffles me. This separation of Church and State is lip service when the very Liberals who decry it, participate in a prayer at the beginning of sessions!

First off I didn’t read every comment, however I did read enough to know that no one addressed the fact that it was supposed to be a PRAYER people!! You don’t pray an offence of slander no matter who it may be or what you think. That in effect made it a non-prayer and most assuredly an offence in and of itself to Heavenly Father.

@JZS- and just where in the New Testament does Jesus say it’s wrong to be rich?
You want to tell people they’re not Christian because they support wealth? You won’t find any words in either the Old or New Testaments denouncing wealth, so if you want to poke slivers in others’ eyes, pull the log out of yours first.

      Hey BlazingPatriot and JZS,
We are suppose to be biased for Jesus and biased against evil. In general the democrats have become the largest anti Bible, anti Word of God, perversion promoting organization in the USA I am aware of. In collusion with organizations like the ACLU they have worked at removing Christianity from our history and from present day practice. They might exhibit a form of godliness but they deny the power of God. They take counsel together against the Lord and His Anointed One. Fortunately He Who sits in the heavens laughs. The Lord has them in derision. He is not politically correct. More importantly He is not religiously correct. He does not compromise with the religious traditions of men.

Jesus said that those who love Him love His Word and act on it. Jesus never said to get along with everybody. If they hate Him and your are in Christ, they are going to hate you. They take after their father satan. Those who are born of the Spirit take after their Father God, of whom Jesus is not ashamed to call brethren because they have the same Father.

Luke 12:51 “Do you suppose that I have come to give peace upon the earth? No I say to you , but rather division
