Minnesota Schools Use Taxpayer Dollars to Fund ‘White Privilege’ Seminar

Minnesota schools — like many across the country — are facing tight budgets these days. The school board recently announced almost $7 million in cuts and 94 teachers are slated to lose their jobs. But, as the Star Tribune’s Katherine Kersten points out, “there’s always room for in the budget for white guilt.”
The Lakeville schools are sending a delegation of teachers to the 12th annual “White Privilege Conference” at the Bloomington Sheraton from April 13-16. The district is shelling out $160 a pop — plus $125 a day for teacher subs — for this “white guilt” festival.
Organizers say they expect attendees from a number of other Minnesota districts.
The conference is “built on the premise that the U.S. was started by white people, for white people,” according to conference materials. Its mission is to get participants to confront their biases in a “journey in understanding white supremacy, whiteness, privilege, power and oppression,“ and to ”agree to take action in [their] own circle of power.”
The conference is sponsored by the Minnesota Justice Collaborative, a consortium of local higher-education and philanthropic institutions. It is expected to draw 1,500 teachers, students, activists, artists, social workers and counselors from more than 40 states. Minnesota public schools are represented on the list of speakers and workshop presenters.
What can Lakeville parents and taxpayers expect for their investment? To find out, we can peruse the keynote address for the 2009 conference. It was delivered by “social justice educator” Paul Kivel and appeared in the conference journal, “Understanding and Dismantling Privilege.”
Kivel begins with what passes these days as a prayer: “I want to acknowledge the creative spirits in the world that nurture and sustain us and that connect us to each other and to the plant and animal life around us.” Then he winds up for a fire-and-brimstone sermon. We Americans “are completely dependent on U.S. imperialism and war to sustain our daily lives.”
They keynote speaker also complains that Christianity has too much influence in society today, having “played a key role in developing and justifying sources of oppression” — including “violence and genocide” — and is “the beginning of modern or biological racism.”
“Our school system has been set up … to perpetuate white supremacy and white privilege,” Kivel adds. Poor and minority students “do not drop out — they are pushed out.” We must look beyond our “declining empire” to “exciting progressive developments” in Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela, he says, including “land reform and redistribution of wealth, neighborhood committees, recognition of women’s unpaid labor, end of spanking.”
Sponsors of the event include the University of Minnesota, the NAACP, the Denver Foundation and the YWCA of Minneapolis.

There was a window, at that time when the outcome here could have been very different. At a conference, (of course in Chicago), in 1965 or 66, the future of the civil rights movement was mapped. Since most of the attendees were actually communist/socialist, the battle was far from over. For them, civil rights was only the vehicle to disrupt the system, and bring in a large number of well intentioned, but “useful idiots”. Rather than accept the new found equality, “black anger” and the corresponding “white guilt” were selected as the way foreward. The true agenda of many in the movement, was the actual collapse of the entire system. Whether we can pull back from that edge, still remains to be seem. Look what happens to a black middle class or upper middle class person, who expresses a conservative thought. Freedom is not the problem. The movement “leaders” who have an agenda contrary to the needs of the people they speak for, are the problem.

The NAACP, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are the racist scum of the universe.
In the 21st century, there should be no “White Guilt.” What happened prior to and during the Civil War is not something I’ve ever participated in. I was born well over a hundred years later, and SO WERE YOU. And there isn’t a person of African ancestry alive who was ever victim to it, so get off America’s back already.
All this is 100% racism, even if it’s stirred up in reverse. It’s nothing more than an entitlement program on steroids. Something for nothing. Filthy, divisive, radical, racist communism at it’s worst.
This is not the Civil Rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s. That ship has sailed long ago. It’s outta here. Every person in this nation is guaranteed equality, by law. You are not guaranteed success, but you have the right to pursue it. It’s called the American Way. Try it sometime, if you are not already doing so.
Entitlement programs are an embarrassment. I would be ashamed to go on one. I’m smart enough to make it on my own. It doesn’t require rocket science. Just a little effort.
You should never be rewarded for dropping out of school, doing drugs, committing robbery, or just being lazy. If you buy into that extremely racist idea that you get a free pass because of your ethnic background, then you should be ashamed of yourselves. I would be. America is not a racist amusement park, set aside for whites. It’s opportunity for all. You can reach for it, or you can listen to some damn fool like Jackson or Sharpton, and stay poor and oppress yourself by letting them lead you astray like sheep.
This is vile and disgusting racism at it’s very worst, selling you out by making some people feel entitled to freebies. Don’t listen to backstabbing, thieving profiteering scum like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. Where have they led you in the last 30 years? Anywhere good? I bet not. They’re using you, and throwing you away like disposable tissue. That’s all you are to them.
Find someone smart, who is actually doing something useful, and has ETHICS. Like Allen West. He’s a proud military veteran, like millions of others, and he’s doing the right thing. Don’t believe me? Look him up yourself. Allen West. He’s the real deal. Belive me, communism is not the answer. And there will be no free ride if we get communism. We will all be very sorry. Take a look at North Korea. It’s hell on earth. Starvation, executions, no freedoms at all. It really sucks. Do YOU want to live like that? Why, if you can do things as thoughtful as these, do you sometimes fall back to calling people names? Pejoratives– whether they be “communist”, “Marxist”, “athiest”, “Muslim”, “liberal”, or anything else (not to mention the kinds of words others use about conservatives) just get in the way. My mom always used to say “kids start calling you names when they can’t come up with anything better.” Belittling personal philosophies– no matter how badly they mesh with yours– is a recipe for unnecessary conflict. No one has ever been convinced by hearing their ideas called stupid; arguing on merit and principle rather than name works much better. Good post.

Liberal/progressive/communists are extremely evil people who wish to destroy the United States. Communism–when you get right down to it–is the politics of envy and sense of entitlement. There is no longer such a thing as civil discourse. They are so opposed to freedom and liberty that they will slither and ooze into the lowest gutter of existence, rather than admit that they are wrong.
When I was young, I was playing liberal, or aligning myself with their ideas. One day, I realized that those around me were just spouting off empty platitudes and cliches, and flat refusing to hear an opposing view. I began a very simple path of looking into what I really believe. While never 100% onboard with each philosophy, I at least came to a conclusion. No matter what any of us believed, I am still an American, and am only willing to go so far with any belief system that opposes the good of common sense. I may have stumbled on my religious beliefs, but I was not willing to go to war to destroy someone else’s. [that does not mean I'm willing to accept Islam, which I find to be evil and disgusting.]
That’s how I went from being a hollow liberal to being a rock-solid conservative. I don’t want to lose my freedoms. They mean so much more to me than “being right” Just being right in an argument is nothing more than a fleeting little victory that has a short lifespan. Having something solid to believe in, that represents all that is good and right with this great republic is worth vastly more, and is worth fighting for. And I will.

They say the whites are pushing them out, I think it is more of a case of not assimilating and pushing socialistic ideas on a country that was not founded on that. They think Christianity is the problem and I think they are right. The lack of it. If they would try praying to God Almighty and not to Mother earth, I am sure they would be better off. I guess I had better sign off I am beginning to sound like a “bitter white woman”.

There are so many times lately that I bless my stars that while I continue to employ about 20 people, I am totally broke and the business makes no money, therefore I don’t pay much in taxes. If I did, my WHITE GUILT would be that I paid into a system that supported every so-called victim nurtured on the Progressive’s teet! Ugh!

Our law was based on biblical law. Look it up for yourself. Judges 8:22; Judges 9:6; II Samuel 16:18; II Kings 14:21. God was the sourse of our ‘natural’ rights. We don’t get our rights from the government. What if government says you don’t have the right to own property? What then? I’ll tell you what; eminent domain.
You see, the framers believed that man was sinful and corruptible, just as the Bible describes him.

In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itseld.” – James Madison, Federalist #51
The founders believed that government was needed to curb man’s sinful nature, but government, which was made up of man, had those same sins.
So….tell me, do you think these anti-whites in Minnesota have any understanding at all about our evil white founding? To speak out about ‘white guilt’ is to speak out against the freedom to prosper that we’ve had until the Progressives took religion out of our schools, took away Nativity Scenes from our public squares, took away flag salutes and the National Anthem, took away prayers at football games, and on and on.
These Progressive Minnesotians have no concept at all that it was whites who realized how man would be corrupted like the corruption we see in Washington. The unconstitutional healthcare law is a good example of the corruptable nature of man, or, in the case of Nancy Pelosi, woman. Remember her words; “you first have to pass the bill to see whats in it.”
Remember James Madison’s words in speaking about government at the end of Federalist #51, he said……” and in the next place oblige it to control itself.”

Posted on April 11, 2011 at 5:04amIn my line of work, I‘m required to have so many CEU’s every two years…one being on “cultural diversity”…the last two times I went to conference on it, I got the whole “if you’re white, you’re automatically racist” message…I just tuned out & started reading something else instead of listening…this year, I got a flyer about another conference & now they’re adding “heterosexual privilege” to the verbage…I’m not even going to waste my money to go….I’ll find another way to get the credit.

Granted, some people were forced through slavery to come here. As awful as that is, their progeny is now blessed to be in the greatest country the world has ever known.
No matter our beginnings, we should all give thanks to Almighty God we’re here…we could be in the Ivory Coast, Iraq, Indonesia, Israel, afraid of a bomb going off at a wedding, etc.
We should get on our knees EVERYDAY, and thank Him for this country!

The premise of the #$%^& conference is whites are racist and need to get on the GUILT train and stay there. Basically the very existence of whites in this country since its inception has been to “make BLACK get back”. If this doesn’t make your blood boil, you are room temperature. OK students. How long do you think this will go on in this country? Answer….as long as whitey keeps rolling over every DAMN time soneone threatens them as being racist. Next time someone of the black persuasion accuses you of being racist and you know it is just their usual NAACP crutch talking point, ask them “And Your Point is?” and then politely tell them to KISS YOU WHITE Assets and walk the other way. And, we have been willing to share it with others. The problem is, that our culture worked because of certain standards and values. And, while everyone wants the fruits of the culture, not everyone is willing to adopt the cultures and values that produce those fruits. If we are not willing to insist that others adopt those standards and values to in order to participate, our culture will no longer work. If people keep saying we are racist, and forcing us to lower our standards and values in the name of diversity, then we are on our way to being another dysfunctional Third World country.

We‘ve worked hard for most everything we’ve gotten, and the rest is by the grace of God. Maybe if some of these whinny minority welfare leeches got up and did some real work instead of complaining about how unfair it is to be colored they could get somewhere.

It begins in late 1800s after the civil war and covers Woodrow Wilson and FDR ears. It ends in the late 1960s. I was mad and made no bones about it in the class. It was useless for our setting as I am sure in this setting. It is about land being withheld from minorities for being other than white. Then it turns to voting rights in the 1960s. I made a point that even white men could not vote at one time in this nation if they failed to own land. I was amused at one point. It stated once the non-whites won the right to get the GI bill after WWII that realtors were saying the following: Realtors where telling the white people in a white community that the black people were going to move into their neighborhood. The white people would agree to sell their house for less than the property value just to get out of the city. Then when the minority would come with their GI bill, the realtor would sell the same home for more than the property value. It seemed to me that both got the shaft on that one. Also it was the realtors that contributed to “white flight” from the cities. I concluded that a bunch of realtors, banks (fanny and Freddy), and politicians screwed us all then as well this time in a housing market. Greed knows no color people.
