Misquote the Koran in Malaysia? You Can Now Go to Jail for That

If you abuse the Koran in Malaysia, the government can now take action against you. But what exactly does “abuse” include? Misquoting it for one.

According to the state news agency Bernama, residents can now suffer a year in jail, a fine, or both if they are found abusing the Koran. The government reportedly came to that conclusion after a special conference of the National Fatwa Council in December, which discussed issues that included abuse of Koranic verses.

“The muzakarah agreed that non-Muslims who cite Quranic verses according to their own understanding without sincerity is an affront to the sanctity of al-Quran and can cause doubt and slander in society,” minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom told Bernama.

The site explains:

Jamil said that any person who caused disharmony in society could be charged under Section 298 and 298A (1) of Penal Code (Revised) 1997.

“Under Section 298, those who hurt the religious feelings of others whether by words, action, sounds or signals shall be sentenced not more one year’s jail or fine or both.

“Those who cause disharmony, discord, enmity and hatred on religious grounds can be jailed not less two years‘ and not more five years’ under Section 298A (1) of Penal Code.

It’s like Jesse Jackson and Al “Sharp-as-a-bowling-ball” Sharpton pulling out the race card when they want special privileged – exceptionalism don’t you know!     The Muslim community would never tolerate being treated with the same standards it applies to other religions.

    How can Muslims so horribly misinterpret the prophet of Islam by killing its critics?
    Oh that’s right – it’s the example that he set for them, many times.

    Why do Westerners try so hard to delude themselves about a “Religion of Peace” that is anything but?

    The more I read of the level of intolerance of Islam the more I come to the conclusion that Islam fails the test of being a religion but passes the test of being a draconian system meant to oppress those that follow it’s philosophy and attack those that do not. Islam is more akin to the rules of communism than that of a religion. Karl Marx’s “Communist Manifesto” will find common ground with the Koran.

    Well….my plan to go to Malaysia, open up the koran in the middle of a street and pretend to read out loud saying…..“and mohammed went forth and bent before his camel and the camel did sodomize mohammed in a great haste” has to be postponed for a while.

    muslims are not supposed to think. The moment you or anyone else offers a perspective or explanation different than that which they were brainwashed to believe in, you will cause muslims to think.

    Many of muslims are under the impression their religion is peaceful, and yet cant seem to accept the fact that half of the koran is violent and hypocritical.

    NO good can come from letting Islam grow.

    So…would that apply to misquoting the Holy Bible of the Christians too? There are many more people that slander God, Jesus, and the Christian Bible then any other religion or its book. The muslims have become embolden, because there are many that believe that America now has a muslim president. Islam may be gaining an upper hand of sorts right now in the history of the world, but Daniel 7: 26 clearly tells us that this religion of the Little Horn and its “power will be taken away and COMPLETELY DESTROYED FOREVER.” Verse 27 goes on to tell us: Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven WILL BE HANDED OVER TO THE SAINTS (that’s Christians of the Holy Bible), the people of the Most High (God Almighty). His (God’s) kingdom will be an EVERLASTING KINGSOM, and ALL RULERS will worship and obey him.

      paul-indiana: I hear you. Obama thinks we don’t know, but we do…especially since finding out his connection to Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan. I actually thought that before the election in 2008. He wore the muslim garb in Africa.
      I can’t write president with a capital “P” either…I don’t think he is one…nor can I write president. I think he’s a usurper, fraud, and liar, and I’m sure that will come out soon. Especially with this re-election bid.

    Someone told me that if we wanted to understand what was happening to read the book of Habakkuk. Think this was what he was talking about:

      How about ‘Drag the Koran Day’…just tie a piece of rope around the Koran and tie the other end to your car bumper. Drive all day around town, to the trash dump, down some old alley ways, dirt or mud roads, and anywhere else. Then send in your photo. The Koran that is most disheveled wins the big prize.

    This is particularly funny, because a good deal of the koran is misquoting and mistelling parts of the Old and New Testaments. To put a point on it, mohammed plagiarized from the Old and New Testaments, changed the stories (Ishmael was the one Abraham was going to sacrifice, not Isaac; Jesus was not the one on the cross, …) and then called Jews and Christians the worst sorts of liars since the original texts disagreed with mo’s, thereby earning them death.

But ya see, that’s what sets our nation apart for ALL other governments. We have freedom of religion and freedom of speech. Amen!       That law clearly only counts if you

      This is the kind of insanity we are up against. I do not ridicule or poke fun at anyone’s religion. That’s none of my business. But the extremists want to infringe on my rights. I have a huge problem with that. I understand this law doesn’t directly affect me but it does give us insight into the thinking of Muslims. My freedoms end when they start to infringe on yours. And vice versa.

      I don’t pretend to know the answers but I do know that we need to stand up for ourselves. I am worried about the way things are going. The radicles don’t like or respect us – they just use us as long as it suits their purposes. The fact that we value human life so much is our weakness. They don’t value my life; I am having a tougher and tougher time valuing theirs. Simple containment may be the answer. If they want to kill each other I suppose that would be their choice.

Their ideas for laws are so far from anything we would call constitutional and their ideas of Justice is totally about punishment. If you are accused you must be guilty especially if you are a woman or an infidel, mercy, or innocence is a foreign word, trials are to determine the level of guilt and the degree of punishment.

      This is a true story and the author, Rick Mathes, is a well-known leader in prison ministry.

      The man who walks with God always
      gets to his destination.If you have a

      The Muslim religion is the fastest
      growing religion per capita in the
      United States , especially in the
      minority races!!

      Last month I attended my annual
      training session that’s required for
      maintaining my state prison
      security clearance.
      During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers
      representing the Roman Catholic,
      Protestant and Muslim faiths,
      who each explained their beliefs.

      I was particularly interested in
      what the Islamic had to say.
      The Muslim gave a great presentation
      of the basics of Islam, complete
      with a video.

      After the presentations, time was
      provided for questions and answers.
      When it was my turn, I directed
      my question to the Muslim and asked:
      ‘Please, correct me if I’m wrong,
      but I understand that most Imams and
      clerics of Islam have declared
      a holy jihad [Holy war] against the
      infidels of the world and, that by
      killing an infidel,
      (which is a command to all Muslims)
      they are assured of a place in heaven.
      If that’s the case, can you give me
      the definition of an infidel?’

      There was no disagreement with my
      statements and, without hesitation,
      he replied, ‘Non-believers!’
      I responded, ‘So, let me make sure
      I have this straight. All followers of
      Allah have been commanded to kill
      everyone who is not of your faith so
      they can have a place in heaven.
      Is that correct?’
      The expression on his face
      changed from one of authority
      and command to that of a
      little boy who had just been
      caught with his hand
      in the cookie jar.’

      He sheepishly replied, ‘Yes.’

      I then stated, ‘Well, sir, I have
      a real problem trying to
      imagine The Pope commanding
      all Catholics to kill those of
      your faith or Dr.Stanley ordering
      all Protestants to do the same
      in order to guarantee them
      a place in heaven!’
      The Muslim was speechless!

      I continued, ‘I also have a
      problem with being your friend
      when you and your brother clerics
      are telling your followers to
      kill me! Let me ask you a question:
      Would you rather have your Allah,
      who tells you to kill me in
      order for you to go to heaven,
      or my Jesus who tells me to
      love you because I am going
      to heaven and He wants you
      to be there with me?’
      You could have heard a pin
      drop as the Imam hung his
      head in shame.

      Needless to say, the organizers
      and/or promoters of the
      ‘Diversification’ training seminar
      were not happy with my way
      of dealing with the Islamic Imam,
      and exposing the truth
      about the Muslims’ beliefs.
      In twenty years there will be
      enough Muslim voters in the
      U.S. to elect the President!

      I think everyone in the U.S.
      should be required to read this,
      but with the ACLU, there is no
      way this will be widely
      publicized, unless each of us
      sends it on! This is your chance
      to make a difference…
