Mitt Romney Becomes First Republican Candidate in 60 Years to Not Mention War

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney (AP)

WASHINGTON (TheBlaze/AP) — With America embroiled in its longest armed conflict, Mitt Romney became the first Republican since 1952 to accept his party’s nomination without mentioning war.

Three election cycles after the 2001 terrorist attacks, neither Romney nor his running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan, had anything to say about terrorism or war while on their party’s biggest stage. The only one who did Thursday was actor Clint Eastwood, who won cheers for suggesting invading Afghanistan was a mistake and calling for an immediate withdrawal of troops – a line that might have earned boos and catcalls four years ago.

The Romney strategy reflects the weak public support for the Afghanistan war, fatigue over a decade of terrorism fears and the central role of the economy in the campaign. But it was still a remarkable shift in tone for a party that, even in times of peace, has used the specter of war to call for greater military spending and tough foreign policy.

Candidates Barry Goldwater and Richard Nixon criticized the handling of the Vietnam War. Bob Dole said the way to prevent conflict is to prepare for more, greater wars than a country will need to fight. Ronald Reagan warned that a weak nation would tempt the Soviet Union.

“Four times in my lifetime America has gone to war, bleeding the lives of its young men into the sands of beachheads, the fields of Europe and the jungles and rice paddies of Asia,” Reagan said in 1980. “We know only too well that war comes not when the forces of freedom are strong, but when they are weak.”

Even President Gerald Ford, who in 1976, a year after the last U.S. troops left Vietnam, declared that, “not a single American is at war anywhere on the face of this Earth tonight,” went on to say, “A strong military posture is always the best insurance for peace.”

Things are different now, 11 years after President George W. Bush pledged to “starve terrorists of funding, turn them one against another, drive them from place to place, until there is no refuge or rest.”

Osama bin Laden is dead. The Iraq war is over. Al-Qaida is weakened. The color coded alerts that for years warned of a constant, unseen danger have faded away. None of the presidential or vice presidential candidates for either party has ever served in the military, a first in 80 years.

And although 79,000 troops remain in Afghanistan, public support has eroded for the decadelong campaign there. An AP-GfK poll found in May that 66 percent of voters believe the country should not be involved in Afghanistan anymore. That same poll found that only 37 percent of Republicans backed the war.

Republican strategist Tony Fratto said was it odd, personally, to hear a major Republican speech with no mention of the issue that has so dominated the past decade. Fratto served as a White House spokesman and aide to the younger Bush, whose presidency was consumed by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

But with 8.3 percent unemployment nationwide, Republicans see the economy as the driving issue this year. And Fratto said Romney’s primary goal Thursday night was to connect with voters on a personal level and redraw the caricature of him as wooden and out of touch.

“If you’re going to leave some things out, you‘re going to leave out things that aren’t highest on the list of concerns of voters,” Fratto said. “It’s more reflective of what Americans are interested in hearing from their candidates right now.”

Romney did briefly refer to Iran and said President Barack Obama had not done enough to prevent that country from pursuing nuclear weapons. But his only mention of war was not Iraq or Afghanistan. It was World War II, and he used it as a way to frame his life story.

“I was born in the middle of the century in the middle of the country, a classic baby boomer,” Romney said. “It was a time when Americans were returning from war and eager to work.”

Conservative commentator William Kristol, a Republican standard-bearer, criticized Romney’s decision.

“Leave aside the question of the political wisdom of Romney’s silence, and the opportunities it opens up for President Obama next week,” Kristol noted on his blog. “What about the civic propriety of a presidential nominee failing even to mention, in his acceptance speech, a war we’re fighting and our young men and women who are fighting it?”

At no point was the incongruity more apparent than during Eastwood’s unscripted speech. The renowned filmmaker suggested that invading Afghanistan was a foolhardy decision and teased Obama for it, even though it began under Bush.

“You thought the war in Afghanistan was OK. You know, I mean, you thought that was something worth doing. We didn’t check with the Russians to see how they did there for 10 years,” Eastwood said to great laughter.

Then, talking about Obama’s schedule for bringing troops home by the end of 2014, Eastwood said the sensible question was, “Why don’t you just bring them home tomorrow morning?”

The quip earned him applause and cheers.

Hes not fooling me its like 15 out of 18 of his foreign policy advisers are bush advisers, we know he will be a war monger just like bush and i would rather reckless spending on services that help people and not murder them. All Obama has to do is mention that and than can use the party of war to destroy him in November.

Individualism – your name doesn’t fit your ideology. First, spending money on military pays Americans to work, giving money to non-workers encourages people to NOT work. Borrowing money for either issue is becoming more and more foolish, but to say it is better to pay people to not produce is wrong headed and economically a disaster.

Now to Obama – he has engaged our troops in 4 nations. He has waged war, doubled-down in Afghanistan, and has assassinated 5x as many people using drones in less than 4 years than Bush did in 8. It seems your peace prize phony is quite the murderous warmonger himself.

This is why many were so disappointed in Obama…..Also…….we are all instruments of the Democratic and Republican parties…..they love to divide us all up…….Many of us would love to have a group who don’t have to vote Repub or Dem to decide our future…..I do believe it is coming but for right now we have to vote ‘common sense’. Romney? Not a God but a better choice then the one who was raised on drugs, communism, & no freedom experiences…..So we must make this choice and then get together to form a voting block for our own choices….Romney at least will keep our rights and freedom in place…..so lets do it and then in the next 4 years form a group who knows the Constitution and we get a leader who speaks all the truth……

Maybe you can answer this then: Why would a president sign the National Defense Resources Executive Order or something similar during peace time if he was not preparing for one whopper of a war?

Is this what it’s come down to? Since you liberals can’t criticize Romney for what he did say, you have to criticize him for what he didn’t say. How lame – and thoroughly pathetic. Gee, I thought Obama and Co. already had that war wrapped up . . isn’t everything finalized for our troop withdrawals (even though that’s causing more soldier deaths than at any other time in the war?) Are you now trying to say we should continue the war? Make up your minds. You hate wars when it’s a Republican president, but there sure hasn’t been a whole lot of criticism regarding Obama and his wars, including dropping drones wherever he feels like, and killing any one he wants to – even American citizens. For example, where has Code Pink been for the last 4 years? Haven’t seen too much complaining from them since Obama took over. Now they’re out there dressing like female genitalia – and, I might add, making total fools of themselves.
Andyou think Obama isn’t a warmonger? At least Bush received approval by Congress; Obama does whatever he wants, and is disgraceful.

He or the others may not have mentioned it but they sure are planning for it. If anyone thinks that if R/R get into office they will not continue to meddle and engage in war in the middle east, just like TOTUS & Bush, is living in la la land. Heck Romney wants to increase the military budget even more. For what, border control – ha-ha. That would make it too hard for him and Rubio to push their version of the Dream Act.

Do we not spend more than the rest of the entire world as a % of our GDP on the industrial war machine that we need to add to it. I guess 30000 drones is not enough. Romney has surrounded himself with war promoters from the Bush administration and those who still reside in the halls of Congress and foreign policy think tanks.

Besides, Romney has flipped on so many issues it is really hard for me to believe anything that comes or does not come from his mouth. Omission in a speech does not negate the desire or plans. Personally, I am disgusted with the entire government, republicans and all. Thanks RNC for giving us yet again the lesser of two evils to vote for.

The Right-hand and the Left-hand are connected to the SAME BODY … and the same body that ran things before the election will still be running things after the election.

It‘s not enough that we should support him if he’s the nominee. We have to sell out our principles. We have to split hairs over RomneyCare and ObamaCare, make Federalism arguments … I’m not doing that. … I mean I‘ve got audio here up the wazoo where he’s defending the individual mandate and actually encouraging the people who are putting together ObamaCare to consider it.”

“So … On the one side of his mouth he’s talking about the Declaration Of Independence, capitalism, he’s a businessman, and on the other side he’s defending RomneyCare, which is rally the most radical health care plan before ObamaCare”

John Quincy Adams on U.S. Foreign Policy (1821)

And now, friends and countrymen, if the wise and learned philosophers of the elder world, the first observers of nutation and aberration, the discoverers of maddening ether and invisible planets, the inventors of Congreve rockets and Shrapnel shells, should find their hearts disposed to enquire what has America done for the benefit of mankind?

Let our answer be this: America, with the same voice which spoke herself into existence as a nation, proclaimed to mankind the inextinguishable rights of human nature, and the only lawful foundations of government. America, in the assembly of nations, since her admission among them, has invariably, though often fruitlessly, held forth to them the hand of honest friendship, of equal freedom, of generous reciprocity.

She has uniformly spoken among them, though often to heedless and often to disdainful ears, the language of equal liberty, of equal justice, and of equal rights.

She has, in the lapse of nearly half a century, without a single exception, respected the independence of other nations while asserting and maintaining her own.

She has abstained from interference in the concerns of others, even when conflict has been for principles to which she clings, as to the last vital drop that visits the heart.

She has seen that probably for centuries to come, all the contests of that Aceldama the European world, will be contests of inveterate power, and emerging right.

Wherever the standard of freedom and Independence has been or shall be unfurled, there will her heart, her benedictions and her prayers be.

But she goes not abroad, in search of monsters to destroy.

She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all.

She is the champion and vindicator only of her own.

She will commend the general cause by the countenance of her voice, and the benignant sympathy of her example.

She well knows that by once enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication, in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy, and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standard of freedom.

The fundamental maxims of her policy would insensibly change from liberty to force….

She might become the dictatress of the world. She would be no longer the ruler of her own spirit….

[America's] glory is not dominion, but liberty. Her march is the march of the mind. She has a spear and a shield: but the motto upon her shield is, Freedom, Independence, Peace. This has been her Declaration: this has been, as far as her necessary intercourse with the rest of mankind would permit, her practice.

When John Quincy Adams served as U. S. Secretary of State, he delivered this speech to the U.S. House of Representatives on July 4, 1821, in celebration of American Independence Day.

When did I say I didn’t want us to be the most powerful military in the world? How about we let all those nations over there that are dead set on going at it with each just get it over with, while we rebuild America here economically?

You realize we are the world’s most powerful military many times over right? Staying the hell out of a few conflicts in the middle east isn’t going to all the sudden make us the weakest nor will it make them the most powerful. Let them all duke it out and we stay out of it. We need a strong America at home in case it escalates to a World War right? If we get involved beforehand we will be spending trillions and costing soldier’s lives on the initial conflict. That’s wasteful IMO.

When will you people learn that nobody is going F with us? Pearl Harbor was a long time ago and we put Japan right in their place did we not? 9/11 was awful and we responded by invading and decimating Iraq. We did what we needed to do to get Osama, even if it meant going into a country (Pakistan) where we didn’t have permission to go.

If a country really wants to mess with us then let them, because we can and will absolutely whip their asses. But my argument is that if we don’t mess with these stupid backwards countries in the first place they will be less likely to pull stunts like 9/11 and even if they do we are MORE than capable of taking them out.

We have spent trillions for defense spending for decades now. WE ARE THE MOST POWERFUL ALREADY. Why a

Obama has allowed the “Arab Spring” to knock over the rulers of almost every country surrounding Israel. Peace between Egypt and Israel has been in place for close to 30 years… now a ‘professor’ who is also a muslim cleric spouts off that “Israel will not exist in a year”? Iran has been trumpeting this since before Obama took office… but since Obama’s VERY first interview as President was with an Arabic news organization (should have kicked him out of office just for THAT) I don‘t think he’s really too worried about Israel.

I don’t think Mitt will go looking for a war. War is going to come to us, yet again. Read about the Russian sub that was cruising round the Gulf of Mexico, probably for a month???? Yet Obama wants to cut defense spending. Sure… that’s a good idea. Jimmy Carter wanted to do that too.

Difference will be – we may be able to put up a fight under Mitt, instead of Obama opening the doors and letting them in.

So under Romney that Russian sub wouldn’t have been in the Gulf eh? Our military under Obama is still many times more powerful than all other nations and even if some was cut that would still be true.

Why are you people so scared? Forget the POTUS for a moment, because under either of them ever since 9/11 we have been so scared that we have allowed the TSA to pat us down at airports and still feel this need to invade other countries for our “protection”.

Grow some balls people. Do you really lose sleep at night worrying about countries like Iran and NK? I sure as hell don’t. A sovereign country messing with us is suicide for them. You think the leaders in NK, Iran, Egypt, etc that are living high off the hog really want America to swoop in and destroy them overnight? Iraq sent one hell of a message don’t you think?

That’s why a group of terrorists on their own had to attack us because no nation dare do so. In the end we had to take out Osama in one of our “allies” country. How sad is that? This world is full of corrupt governments that might hide terrorists or drug lords, but what do you want to do about it? Invade them all?

You people have no clue. You’re just scared and like the idea of our government taking out the big bad wolf. So much in fact that you let them tell us who the enemy is regardless of any real threat. Iraq taught you nothing. I’m shamed of your cowardliness and so would the founding fathers is they were alive today.

” With America embroiled in its longest armed conflict, Mitt Romney became the first Republican since 1952 to accept his party’s nomination without mentioning war.”
Says something about the Republican Party. That being said, if we find out Iran is enriching uranium samples to within ~20% range, they have what’s coming to them. I don’t like it, and there are plenty of Iranians who hate their ****** authoritarian government as much as I do–innocent decent people who will die in the war. But the potential cost of increased nuclear proliferation, and to a known terrorist-sponsoring state at that, is too great to sit by idly. It might be the first intelligent and legitimate war America will be involved in this side of the 21st Century (I don’t consider our murdering of Qaddafi, who had it coming not unlike Assad who HAS it coming, a war on our part since we weren’t fighting so much as lobbing rockets into the fight), but just because we embroiled ourselves in some foolish wars, doesn’t mean we can shrink when necessary ones confront us. I‘d rather we didn’t go to war with Iran, but more than that I’d prefer, nay it is non-negotiable, that Iran not acquire nuclear weapons. It’s leadership has not proven itself to have the responsibility or legitimacy to deserve such an awesome power.

We all know that Iran hates the US so does Russia, but who are thy both Allies with? Venezuela, who also hate the US as much as Iran does. Why we did not know sooner is beyond me, except for the fact that the Obama administration has dropped its’ guard when it comes to our national security. Our open southern border is also a threat – not because of immigrants looking for work, but because of our enemies in South America (Venezuela and Brazil are two). We are NOT at war! Terrorism is a tactic of war and you can’t make war against a tactic. Our troops aren’t fighting a war, but fighting for their lives – in foolish attempts at nation-building among people who are forbidden to take us as friends or adopt our ways under threat of death and eternal hell-fire. Yes, they’ll take our money, modern equipment and training how to use it just like the so-called “Barbary Pirates” did until Thomas Jefferson had our Marines sew on heavy leather collars and go after the fatherless sons at the “Shores of Tripoli.” Washington and Adams had authorized payng the jizya (Muslim tax of humiliation on non-Muslims) to keep our ships from being raided and Americans enslaved, but Jefferson ended it with the only thing Muslims truly understand: superior force and a wilingness to use it. We’re still supporting Muslim states with what we call “foreign aid” but Muslims call jizya. To better understand the Muslim mind, read “Why We Want to Kill You” by Walid Shoebat (a former trained and functioning Muslim terrorist) who dared question Islamic doctrine and truly became a Christian. Learn – before Koran 9:29 brings Islam’s promised “peace.”

He can now bring American troops home now that American troops have had plenty of sensitivity training towards Muslims, kind of the same way Vietnam Vets kept being required to take hills and then give them back to the Communists. Veterans will be more susceptible to eventually becoming Muslim more than you know. Just like John McCain is always reaching leftward.

@Abraham, I have been posting that important Fox news story in several stories and nobody but one has commented on it. At Freedom Works, people are waking up to the fascist Romney/RNC policy. They rigged the system in several states during the primary, rigged the state conventions and now rigged the national convention. For anyone that does not believe that, all you have to do is go here and watch the news reports on the elections: http://www.fox19.com/category/208878/reality-check-with-ben-swann
I believe that anyone that does not go to this link and research these Reality Checks, from Fox, then you do not want to hear the truth. If we make a mistake this election, all elections in the future will not matter as our votes will not matter anywhere in the country.

It is a LOCAL fox station, with the same Progressive speaking as in your prior post. If you are going to purport to cite a news channell, make sure first that it is NEWS and not opinion.

I am disappointed that you have attempted here, on multiple occasions, to deceive other readers. Make your own arguments, if you wish to state your opinion, but base it on the facts. that’s not true. Presidential candidates routinely withhold all or some of their tax returns.

But why should they release any? Does no one have a right to privacy anymore? Why is paying illegal income taxes a sign of integrity?

The Supreme Court in 1895 ruled that the income tax is unconstitutional. The Constitution itself said the federal taxes are to be apportioned among the states, not direct taxes. The 16th Amendment may not even have been legitimately ratified, but even if it was, we survived over 100 years with no federal income tax, and a graduated income tax is a plank of the Communist manifesto. We should not be praising our slavery to the federal plantation.

JZS, He has so far released as many tax returns as John Kerry did for his presidential bid, and the same amount as John McCain. Okay, back to Lurch. Lurch has release a total of 20 years of his tax returns that amount to less than 1.5 of his years in the Senate, combined with his bid for the presidency. At the same time I will have to admit that he has more balls than than many in our current congress considering that he is one of seventeen to release any returns. But, nonetheless, Kerry release the same number of returns for his presidential bid leaving a number of gaps in his income history. McCain also only released two years worth of returns, the same number as Mitt. Just funny how the left and so many of the trolls her say that Mitt has released NO returns. The guy is rich, and if there were any inconsistencies the IRS would have him in jail by now. Now, how about those inconsistencies involving 0bama?

I stand by my observation. Specifically related to your claim that Romneys the 1st candidate in 60yrs not to release his taxes is BS. Not sure how you define candidate but Buchanan, Huckabee, Guilianni, Forbes, Jerry Brown, and Ralph Nader released zero returns. Reagan, Nixon, Ford, and Carter didn’t release theirs until after they were elected. In some cases they were leaked (Reagan, Nixon). The point to me is this: nobody is required to by law. If you want that to change, change the law. …oh, and i would never say something as stupid as “all muslims are out to get me”. Only “smart people” like yourself make such broad, irresponsible claims… I can relate, though. I used to have your disease. I‘m sure you’re right about the tax returns and yes, nobody is required by law to show them. They just generally have since Romney’s dad set the precedent. And let’s be honest. We all know why Romney won’t release his: his use of tax havens helped build his fortune and those of Bain investors. And it‘s not clear that Romney hasn’t cheated at least to some degree: how do you get 100 million bucks in a tax free IRA when the annual contribution limit is 30,000?

I’ll concede, as I’m sure all others in the Liberty Movement will, that his regulatory and energy policies are much better than Obama’s, but that’s about it. And other areas he’s worse, but for the most part on sound money, civil liberties and military adventurism he and Obama are interchangeable. There‘s also a difference between he and Obama on the stuff social progressives are up in arms over that folks like me really don’t think are important at all. For example, I don’t really care if gays can get married our not. I think the act of homosexuality is disgusting, but really the federal government has no authority in the Constitution to say anything about marriage at all. Only a PROGRESSIVE thinks they do. Romney isn’t going to win. The RNC has alienated so many in it’s natural base and the convention demonstrated the apathy of the American people towards the Rominee. http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/rnc-ratings-night-three-romney-results-in-ratings-rise-only-fnc-retains-viewership-compared-to-2008_b143943. I live in Ohio and there’s a ton of Obama/Biden bumper stickers not one Romney/Ryan sticker. With the rule changes we really must concentrate on the Senate/Congress to stall Obama and make a 3rd party for 2016 or we’re never going to turn this ship around.

I KNEW Romney Never Say That!

Yep, America has been hearing a lot of strange and perplexing things coming out of the mouths of it’s government SERVANTS and SERVANT-wanna-be’s … UNTIL you know that THEIR plans are different from YOURS:

“[Romney] at Sunday’s fund-raiser. “I’m probably going to eliminate, for high income people, the second home mortgage deduction.” He continued, adding that he would also support eliminating deductions for State income and property taxes. So here he is playing class warfare. … Once again we do not have a candidate, apparently, who believes in success. So if you’re successful, you’re rich, and if you’re rich, you’re to be punished. If a deduction is unworthy, then why have any deductions, unless you’re trying to pander and redistribute wealth? … If Romney’s the Constitutional conservative, Capitalist conservative, that we’ve been told, then let’s hear it!”

“Romney was asked about his media strategy for the general election. … he said his campaign was treated very well by Fox News. … But that he needs to expand his audience beyond the leading cable news channel. “Fox is watched by the true believers, Romney told donors” according to the Wall Street Journal. “We need to get the independents and the women.” See, folks, this is what I’m talking about. This is Liberal-think. … Great statesmen, great leaders don’t talk this way.

That includes city councils, judges, sheriffs, police chiefs and most cops above the patrolman level, teachers, principals, etc., everyone in county and state government, and of course, most politicians (whether Democrat or Republican) and 99 percent of government employees. I think close to half of the US population is probably Communist, and maybe more than half. Also all homosexuals – both male and female – are Commies. @Duetornomy22,

See what you did there? YOU the “people” are upset with the Government who is allowing bankers and businessmen hold the “people” down. Communist try to create a division between the people and their government and between the people themselves. Thank you for proving that it is working.

You people need to look and think about 3rd and 4th parties…
I post this here because under the other parties it would be overlooked. The problem we as Americans face is not one of which party to belong to or support, but, therefore, the problem which exists is one which has people running our country who know nothing about the average Americans. If our country is struggling due to a weakened economy yet our political leaders feel none of the economic strain in their own pockets then they cannot be focused on fixing the problem Truth be told, they created the situation which caused the problem.

Ask yourself this Americans… Have you EVER caused a problem doing something you THOUGHT was right (or at the very least doing what you wanted) and fixed it yourself WITHOUT being humble and saying “Well, I broke it, guess I should fix it.”? Now ask yourself if you’ve EVER heard of a politician saying he/she was WRONG about ANYTHING?

Americans are sick of all these endless, politically correct, nation building wars. We are sick of transferring our wealth to 3rd world countries. It hasn’t worked, so why keep doing it?

Hey Obama called an end to the wars so the troops are coming home, what else is there to say? The wars are over according to Obama. No need to mention something that is over with.

    WARNING!! WARNING!! WARNING!!
The trolls and Obama nuts are swarming with their faux information, out and out lies. What Romney said about STRONG MILITARY is all we have to say so you little Obama dopes hit the road.

YOUR new gig is trying to convince us that we need a 3rd party. even a 4th Party… Why don’t we each have our OWN party then? STUPID PAULBOTS would try to ruin Romney’s chances out of some ego trip they are on, instead of helping get rid of the COMMIE in the WH and pushing their guy to investigate the FED. THEY are the ALL-OR-NOTHING immature brats who think they can FORCE or BLACKMAIL people into doing their bidding. DUDES!! WHY do you think there is a successful saying : BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME; BUILD A better MOUSE TRAP ??? WE do not want or won’t tolerate ANY THING, any system that has to use FORCE to accomplish it’s goals.
LEAVE our SYSTEM of GOV. the hell alone and support it. It’s the best the world has ever seen. Go after CORRUPTION. BTW: The Feds dropped all charges against SHERIFF JOE !! HELP ROMNEY/RYAN to drive the COMMIES out of DC!! Obama is a Muslim Commie.

@Patty Henry, I believe it is not just the Paulbots, but many from the Tea Party that are leaving Romney for this one thing here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKaXqoC4DjE&feature=youtu.be
You can keep supporting Romney even though he has stripped Americans of their right to vote, I will not.

Thank you Beavis. I remembered he addressed the military this way, but couldn’t remember the exact words he used. YES, he wants to keep our military strong, not cut back like obama & clinton did, cutting it back to pre-WWII. The liars on here must be communist leaning to distort the truth.

MADASHEII…So, instead you will support someone who will and has contested your right to exist without Government interference? Romney did not “Leave the Military out”. What he did is refuse to make the Military and War a pawn in his bid for the Presidency.

Oh, for heaven’s sake MAD-AS-HELL! Once again, you post the SAME DECEPTIVE link, that is opinion instead of news. Romney has stripped Americans of their right to vote, when he is not even in office? He must be super-human to accomplish that!

Tea Party patriots have not given up on Romney; in fact, they applaud him, especially after his pick of Paul Ryan for his VP. He is serious about our debt.

I know you are bitter that Ron Paul did not win. But you are trying to get Obama re-elected because Ron Paul lost the Republican nomination? How childish and dangerous an attitude for this great country. Stop sulking; your choice is between TWO people this election. It is Obama versus Romney. As a libertarian, Romney may not have been your first choice, but even Ron Paul would vote for Romney over Obama!

I believe that there may be an unintentional error here. There is currently NO federal mortgage deductible for a 2nd home (unless Obama just snuck in a new unconstitutional Executive Order).

Huh? Where did this come from? I agree there are probably more communists in the country and even in governmenyt, than we are aware of, as fools have made communism the newest fad. But everyone in state and local government is a communist? 99% in the federal government are communists? Good grief, Charlie Brown!

We are being invade here for a reason people. Don’t let these implanted users set you off and make you say things you will regret. Something doesn’t feel the same. We are being baited for a reason. The Progressives always have a well thought out trap to spin our values. I do not believe we are filled with the hate and violence that is being posted here. Don’t let them discredit us. We need to keep our heads and remember what is at stake here. It is not the time to bedivided or loose everything that we have worked for. It could cost us the election. For those who are here as true patriots and want to save this country, God Bless. The truth shall set us free and faith will give us the strength we need to see it through.
