Mitt Romney Delivers ‘Top Ten’ on Letterman: ‘Newt Gingrich? Really?’

NEW YORK (AP) — What would Mitt Romney like to say to the American people? How about: “Newt Gingrich? Really?”

That‘s one of the playful messages Romney announced to laughter Monday night on CBS’ “Late Show With David Letterman.“ The Republican presidential hopeful delivered the nightly ”Top Ten” list in khakis, shirt and a blue blazer without a tie. Letterman asked the causally dress candidate, “How’d you do on the back nine?”

While Romney took a gentle dig at Gingrich, his main rival for the GOP nomination, he poked fun at himself too. “Isn’t it time,” he asked, “for a president who looks like a 1970s game show host?”

And: “I can do a lot, but even I can’t fix the Indianapolis Colts.”

Romney’s No. 1 thing to tell Americans? “It’s a hair piece.”

Watching Mitt Romney smile even as his thugs beat up on Newt Gingrich is so pathetic and disgusting. All these negative attacks launched by Mitt’s well funded campaign against one man – Newt Gingrich will backfire on him big time. American people do not like bullies specially the wealthy kind like Mitt Romney. Furthermore Mitt’s clowning around with this liberal bastard Letterman will not endear him with serious voters. Mitt Romney may know a thing or two about running corporations and companies but he doesn’t know much about anything else. We need a president who can articulate to the world American exceptionalism. We need a leader in the White House not a community organizer, liar, teleprompter reader, vacationer and apologist. Newt Gingrich is our man. Newt for POTUS 2012.

Funny I don‘t hear you complain about Ron Paul’s thugs/ads and Glenn Beck, and others coming out and telling the truth about Gingrich. The problem here is they are telling the truth about Gingrich and he can’t handle it. This is exactly what Obama would be doing, actually worse. How would Gingrich hold up against Obama when the $1 billion worth of attack ads come out against him, with more info than the GOP will let out. There are worse things in his background, do you remember when he was speaker, there are worse things.

Also Romney hasn’t attacked Gingrich as much as the media likes to point it out. Paul and Bachmann are the worse attackers on Gingrich. And no Romney did not call Gingrich ‘Zany’ as I posted below, here are the videos from the interview proving that: http://www.thedailycandidate.com/video/2011/dec/romney_gingrich_zany.html

It’s so lulzy, especially after what he said in ‘07 about McCain being the establishment ’next-in-line’ candidate. Then when he said “repeal the bad, keep the good” in an interview about Obamacare, I chuckled….seriously? Does anyone REALLY think he’s going to repeal Obamacare?

Because I have my doubts, I’m aware of his new found respect for the 10th amendment…
and I still have my doubts.

Only reason I don’t feel that Gingrich is the same as Romney, is because he doesn’t have handlers. Think about that for a moment. Either he is the most skilled sociopath in history, or he’s genuine.
He certainly isn’t a result of “big GOP machinery”, I see the entire GOP lined up against him on ALL SIDES.( From Mark Steyn to the Sunday GOP pundits. )

Otherwise, without the benefit of the doubt..Gingrich has his ups and downs, meanwhile the only solid UP I can think of regarding Romney is economy, nothing else. That’s just my opinion, though.
I honestly don’t think Romney can beat Obama, he couldn’t beat McCain..and that’s sad.

Sure, we should elect Newt Gingrich to the Presidency. It’s just what America needs. What better representation of America’s decline do we need than Gingrich, a frumpy, power hungry progressive and serial adulterer? His wife would be the country’s First Mistress. This is the same mistress that Gingrich was caught having sex with on the desk in his Congressional office. How could a man that was run out of Congress in shame for ethics violations be wrong for our country? And just think about how much money Gingrich will make from his inside dealings after he’s done with the office of President. He‘ll be able to afford all the best diamonds from Tiffany’s for his current wife/mistress and even for the new mistress that he‘s bound to acquire while he’s President. Ah yes, throw your support behind the Gingrich people. It may not be best for America, but it will be a boon for Gingrich.

      - As the economy gets worse
      - People are poorer, therefore
      - Because of our government programs, they become dependent on government programs
      - Entitlement and welfare rolls grow
      - We spend more money as a result
      - Even though the economy is worse, and the government does not have the money for these programs
      - Therefore the government prints and borrows more
      - Which makes the economy worse still
      - And the cycle repeats.

What part of that don’t the candidates understand?

It’s not about saving this country, it’s about being the most powerful person on the planet. The news media is the same. It‘s not news it’s entertainment. The only time it’s 95% news is when a disaster strikes. I love it how we get played from all sides.

–>nearly 4500 American soldiers dead (Iraq)

The world is doing better than it would be under a Ron Paul administration. If the US wasn’t a force in the world, and I am not saying the police force in the world, just the presence, it would probably be a scarier place and the terrorists would be bringing it to the United States more than fighting in foreign lands like we have forced them to do.

We would be in trouble and so would everyone in the middle of thousands of more Nukes, since we are the ones who have stopped so many countries from building them. Remember that many countries dropped their nuke plans after Saddam fell. Including Libya.

Google “Robert Pape” and watch him discuss his study of suicide terrorism (a study funded in part by the US Dept. of Defense). He explains that 95% of suicide terrorism is a result of occupation.

On another note concerning Iran… here is a recent quote from a report by the US Dept. of Defense: “At present Iran‘s forces are sufficent to deter or defend against conventional threats from Iran’s weaker neighbors such as post-war Iraq, the GCC, Azerbaijan or Afghanistan but lack the air power and logistical ability to power much beyond Iran’s boarders or to confront regional powers such as Turkey or Israel.”

In other words, Ron Paul’s statements on Iran agree with our own intelligence. It is the media and the big military politicians who are hyping the Iran threat… Just like they hyped the Iraq threat. It’s ironic that so many people who disagree with the war in Iraq and are disappointed that we went in based on false intelligence are the same people who say Ron Paul is crazy for giving the same warnings on Iran.

Bachmann wanted to kill Awlaki who was a Muslim. She seems to wants to kill Ahmadinejad who is a Muslim. She also supports Obama’s continual use of drone attacks into a sovereign nation full of Muslims. Drone attacks that kill a lot more people than just suspected terrorists. She certainly wants to attack Iran a country full of Muslims, as well as Jews and Christians. She said she doesn’t “hate Muslims” but in the same breath she turns around and says that Iranians hate Jews. Never mind that 25,000 Jews live in Iran and freely worship in their own synagogues. So it’s okay for her to blanket an entire people with a statement of hate, but Ron Paul who only ever sees Bachman talking negatively about Muslims, or Santorum who feels it is necessary to racially profile people even though Islam is a religion made of people from all different cultures. How would one come to any other conclusion than these two seem to “strongly dislike” Muslims?

Politicians do this kind of thing in order to show people they have a sense of humor. I‘m sure Romney was advised to do it because everyone says he’s too stiff and robotic. They call him inhuman and too serious when he’s all business and another group criticizes him if he tries to appear more casual and light-hearted. It’s a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation. Personally, I think this kind of thing can help a candidate. I don’t think we will be seeing the likes of Marco Rubio doing the late night circuit.
      ——————————–
We see West/Rubio voting for the antiPatriot act that led to the “indefinite detention” bill.
That’s much worse than a late night show.
      They don’t support the Constitution.
They promote fear as an excuse to trade freedom for “safety.”
If we lose freedom — we’ve lost everything — we’ve lost America.

So what. A book on global warming…geeeze…..75% of the public has fallen for the global warming gimmick. That won’t keep me from wanting Newt as president. He won’t follow all the rules made by Washington. He will straighten out AMerica. Some will be unhappy and some will be glad. He will not ruin our credit rating and he will respect the citizens of USA

I think Letterman ‘ought to have Ron Paul on his to do a TOP TEN take’off from Paul’s “Racist Newsletters”, now THAT would be hilarious! Or not… depending on how you look at it. His supporters would find it hilarious and would definately agree with it’s content. The rest of America would probably be in the “Or not…” category and boo him just like he’s been booed on many other occasions on the national stage.

Ron Paul could end it with… Me, Lew Rockwell, The Von Mises Inst., Murray Rothbard (now dead, but alive in the hearts of racists) Neo-Nazi’s, Stromfront, David Duke, Timothy McVeigh admiring militia grps., Truthers, Birthers, Conspiracy Theorists, Democrats, Leftists, Code-Pink- our anti-war, anti-military friends, Ron Paul Forums, my tin-foil hat and the racist newsletters would like you to support us for President…. “FREE BANANA’S” (Bad Lip Reading video quote, lol) Thank You!!

And in typical fashion you have nothing to substantiate that ad hominem attack.

I like a kook who realizes that if we’re to fend off communism and global government it must be done from WITHIN.

      He is pro life
      He will CUT spending
He will curb or cut departments like EDU which have no biz meddling in local issues
He will get us out of the UN and not sign any treaties like Newt would
      He will secure the borders
      He will strengthen the militiary
He will rein in the FED!

I say PROGRESSIVE republicans are doing more damage than liberals.. and BECK agrees.

GADS – Although Paul is a joke and you Paulbutz just can’t see it, in a small way, I hope he wins Iowa for two reasons. 1) It will show how irrelevant Iowa is, and 2) It will bring real scrutiny to Paul and he will finally crash and burn and be no more than a funny footnote in history.

The reason Ron Paul wins Iowa is that the campaign has educated a lot of people there. The rest of America hasn’t caught up yet — haven’t done their homework.

There is to me just one comment he made on the dec 19 interview on O”Rielly.
Very early on he said he made a mistake about abortion. He said he made the mistake saying that laws change over time . Sadly enough I feel he would do the same thing to the Constitution. . This to is WAY to close what Obama has said and most if not all progressives!

I’m not a Mittens supporter, but I have to defend him on this one. I used to be pro choice in my younger days. I’m 40 now, with 2 kids and my views are radically different. People can change their mind. I know politics is dirty, but even on the best days in the best places, all you can do is take a man at his word. I’m a Ron Paul guy, but I believe Mittens on this one.

Way to take his comments out of context. He said that he has always been pro-life, but previously ran under the philosophy that he wouldn’t try and change the system. He said that was a naive position because he was faced with legislation which was trying to define when life began for the purposes of abortion. He was basically saying he tried to separate himself from the issue, but couldn‘t because it’s still an evolving issue with new laws being proposed. It can’t be ignored.

With the political divisiveness as far apart as it currently is. And with the current crop of GOP presidential wannabes campaigning all over and with debate after debate, it is becoming more and more difficult to determine if they are in a sketch comedy show or in real life. It seems that the candidates real life campaigns are so satirical by itself that an improv group is not needed. It is funny enough on its own! I think that one of the TV networks ought to pick up this GOPTP presidential debate for a couple of new seasons. It has become one of the best TV reality-based sitcoms in TV history!!!! They, the GOPTP candidates, keep me laughing and keep me wanting more – two primary tenets of a successful TV show!!

Clinton who had sex with an intern right in the WH and now Newt is the bad one? REALLY.

Mitt Romney was much better then Perry on the tonight show. Thanks for the link to Monkey, I thought the video on the link was funny.
