Mitt Romney Targets ‘Vast Left Wing Conspiracy’ in Media

For a supposed lukewarm moderate, Mitt Romney has managed to step up his rhetoric fairly well now that he is the presumptive GOP nominee for President. Speaking to Breitbart TV‘s Larry O’Connor today, Romney blasted what he labeled (in an ironic nod to Hillary Clinton) the “vast left wing conspiracy” in the media, and their persistent efforts to distract from President Obama’s poor handling of the economy by attacking Republicans. Romney said:
There will be an effort by the quote vast left wing conspiracy to work together to put out their message and to attack me. They’re going to do everything they can to divert from the message people care about, which is a growing economy that creates more jobs and rising incomes. That’s what people care about.
This kind of overt media criticism marks a stark departure from 2008 Republican nominee John McCain, who was infamous for his chummy relationship with the press. Romney apparently suffers no illusions that he will get a fair shake now that he is the man going up against President Obama. Moreover, the friendly tone of the interview suggested that conservative outlets are beginning to warm up to Romney.
Romney predicted the media strategy would fail. “We’re not stupid, it’s about the economy,” he said. “I know it’s an uphill battle we fight with the media, but fortunately there are voices like yours that have more credibility.”
Regarding his support among grassroots conservatives, Romney also sent hopeful signals. “I’m gonna spend time meeting with members of the Tea Party,” he said. “I think as they get to know me better and the things I believe about the country and the challenges the country faces that they’ll be highly motivated and energized.”
Romney also predicted that President Obama’s platform would itself be an inspiration to conservatives in that it would completely repulse them. Throughout the course of the interview, he also promised to take action on Obamacare, and credited conservative new media outlets with driving much of the opposition to the health care law.

Posted on April 17, 2012 at 9:39pmHow ironic that Romney would complain about the left wing media conspiring against him in the general election when it was the very same left wing media that conspired to make him the GOP nominee. This is now the second weak GOP Presidential candidate in a row that was annointed for the slaughter. Romney was chosen specifically because his conservative credentials are extremely weak (just like McCain’s) causing luke-warm support at best, and probably also partly because the corrupt media knows that there are a percentage of voters who choose their candidate mainly on religious convictions, and will not vote for a Mormon. Either way we’ve been McCained again. I shoudn’t say “we” – I personally dumped the Republican Party when I realized that their “small government”, “adherence to The Constitution”, and “fiscal responsibility” rhetoric are just that – rhetoric. They are really no different than the Democrats.

So, what would we have been if Romney had won the nomination last time?
It sounds to me like if anyone but Ron Paul gets nominated, we got “McCained.”
That would make the definition of being McCained – “Nominating anyone who is not Ron Paul”

But I‘m asking you this in all seriousness because I would like to see if you’re capable of an educated, civil, and rational discussion with someone you disagree with, or if you are nothing more than a shameless agitator.
I would honestly like your opinion on the linked interview of Colonel Douglas Macgregor. The reason I ask is that you and I are obviously at odds politically (even though we both consider ourselves conservatives) and I personally consider Colonel Macgregor to be a brilliant and perfectly accurate analyst of exactly what ails America today. I find his knowledge of history to be exceptional and his big-picture comprehension of where we’ve been, where we’re at, and where we’re going, to be the most impressive I’ve seen from anyone in the public eye today.
Please read the interview and give an honest argument to convince me that he is wrong. No ad hominem, disparagement, or falsehoods please, just an intelligent rebuttal of his information if you are able.

With the candidates that ran for the GOP nomination this year, I would say that any of them other than Ron Paul would have been a weak candidate because of the fact that none of the others offered anything other than the same old song and dance. They all talked about fiscal conservatism, but only Paul specified and promised true cuts and a goal of sound money and an end to the Federal Reserve. They all gave lip service to The Constitution, but only Paul recognized that The Patriot Act and the NDAA are gross violations of The Fourth and Fifth Amendments. I could go on and on but I will answer you simply – yes, any other candidate than Ron Paul, means we get McCained.

Time_2, I just want to ask you if you think we are still a government of the people, by the people and for the people? If not, do you think that Obama and his administration are the sole perpetrators of this shift from our free society? In another post, you said that Paul was treasonous. That is a very strong accusation and should be thought out before being said. I believe that treason is when you subvert the Constitution after you have given an oath to protect and defend it as a public official. Treason defined:
trea·son [tree-zuhn] noun
1. the offense of acting to overthrow one’s government or to harm or kill its sovereign.
2. a violation of allegiance to one‘s sovereign or to one’s state.
3. the betrayal of a trust or confidence; breach of faith; treachery.
If Paul were to turn his back on his constituents and not try to get their tax money back to their district, he would be committing an act of treason toward the people that elected him. He does the best job he can for them, but he still refuses to put his yes vote on any bill that is unconstitutional, a yes vote, on any bill that is unconstitutional, would be a type of treason.
Your answer?

When the media report he polls in double digits behind Obama with Jews, women, Hispanics and blacks, he says the that’s out of bounds.
Newt Gingrich won some votes running against the media. And that‘s Palin’s stance too, when the “media” dares to show her actually speaking, something that is generally a negative when she‘s not talking to the tiny fraction of Americans who think she’s qualified to govern the most powerful nation on Earth.
Good luck Mitt running against the media. Sorry though, the media have you digitized, your history is a matter of record (except your tax returns of course) and every statement you’ve made is a matter of public record. And that bodes poorly for your chances in the general election.

Posted on April 18, 2012 at 3:09amThe “mainstream media” is undoubtably dominated by the left wing. In a poll that I vaguely remember being conducted a while ago, over 80% of mainstream journalists supported Mr Obama.
I don’t however, think that they have much effect on the voting public. President Bush was elected twice despite some pretty vitriolic input from the media. In fact, if they had any actual sway, there would probably not have been any republican president following JFK’s time.
I don’t think that the republicans should worry about the media, but concentrate on the message. To do otherwise is to sell the commonsense of ordinary Americans a little short.
Yes, I know that Americans also voted Mr Obama in, but I think that they were a bit carried away with the rhetoric and did not listen very closely to the clearly stated details. I also think that many Americans were pleased to have found a black contender that they could finally support.

TIME_2_GET_OFF_YOUR_HIGH_HORSE ain’t no one special. His arrogance is pathetic.
What many people still don‘t know about the DelutedSelfRightouesGOPwaterCarriers is that they don’t know what it means to support a political establishment. To them, it means a lifetime of complete allegiance and devotion no matter what, and NEVER, EVER question anything it says or does. Indeed exactly like Communists!
I’ve tried debating and reasoning with TIME_2_STOP_THE_BS but he would always tell me he doesn’t care what others say, or think of him, that he’s just here to have fun picking at others. So, trying to rationalize with TIME_2_STOP_USING_CRAYOLAS is pointless.
TIME_2_GET_A_BOOSTER_SEAT can only spout desperate wild allegations to malign folks. He attempts to magically connect two different groups of people, and hopes that readers will fall for his absurd made up associations. For instance, Paul never personally gave support to those four candidates. Paul made a pledge and open invitation to endorse ANYONE that would pledge to balance the budget, cut federal spending, audit the Federal Reserve, and bring our troops home. That is hardly considered “supporting” or being associated with them. Of course, to him, that’s the icing on the cake.

For whatever his failings as a Presidential candidate and conservative (and they were legion), no reasonable person would say that John McCain was worse than any of these clowns. It was one thing for Paul to not endorse McCain, but we have to ask what sort of person affirmatively supports anti-American avowed socialists and confederate sympathizers over a Republican? The answer: Someone who, like Doctor Howard Dean, hates Republicans and everything we stand for.

“Someone who, like Doctor Howard Dean, hates Republicans and everything we stand for.”
I think you have a shred of truth in this statement. While I‘m sure that Ron Paul doesn’t “hate Republicans”, I believe that he may hate what the Republican Party has become. I don’t blame him. The Republican Party is nearly as bad as the Democrat Party. Small government? The last Republican President that helped shrink the Federal Government was Calvin Coolidge. The last great Republican was not Ronald Reagan (he said wonderful things, and probably had great intentions, but under him, the government grew), it was a guy who lost the Presidency, Barry Goldwater.
Thomas Jefferson (the ultimate Republican, before it was a party) was exactly right when he said (regarding political parties) “I never submitted the whole system of my opinions to the creed of any party of men whatever, in religion, in philosophy, in politics, or in anything else where I was capable of thinking for myself. Such an addiction is the last degradation of a free and moral agent. If I could not go to Heaven but with a party, I would not go there at all”.

Posted on April 17, 2012 at 11:51pmCOUS. After reading what you provided and doing a bit more research, he did in fact state that regarding pressure from Barr. Barr thought he was going to get Paul’s sole endorsement, but Paul earlier that month had endorsed the other three in a vote-for-one-of-them proclamation, or vote for any or all (McKinney, Nader, Baldwin) which ticked Barr off. Paul DID later endorse Baldwin while dissing his own Republican party entirely from beginning to end just like this year.
