Mitt Romney Tops Final Iowa Poll

Results are in for the final poll of likely Iowa GOP caucus goers before the January 3 vote, and as it was during the early polls last April, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney sits on top.
The final tally for the Des Moines Register poll conducted Tuesday through Friday shows support at 24 percent for Romney, 22 percent for closely following Texas Rep. Ron Paul, 15 percent for surging former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, 12 percent for former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, 11 percent for Texas Governor Rick Perry, and 7 percent for Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann. Poll conductors Selzer & Co. of Des Moines say the poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
The Register notes that the four-day results don’t reflect just how quickly momentum has shifted in recent months, and even days.
“If the final two days of polling are considered separately, Santorum rises to second place, with 21 percent, pushing Paul to third, at 18 percent. Romney remains the same, at 24 percent.
‘Momentum’s name is Rick Santorum,’ said the Register’s pollster, J. Ann Selzer.”
If the ebbs and flows of this race haven’t yet given you motion sickness, 41 percent of those surveyed say they could still be persuaded to change their minds.
Romney campaigned lightly in the state until December, but the Register notes the second place finisher in the last Iowa caucus benefits from the network he built 2008. During that campaign Romney was seen constantly in the state and poured $10 million into a heavy advertising schedule and a big campaign organization.
The New York Times notes that Register’s late survey has long been seen as one of the most accurate indicators of what might happen on election day. In 2008, the Register poll accurately predicted victories by Barack Obamaand Mike Huckabee.
The first-in-the-nation Iowa caucuses kick-off Tuesday night.

Your a pig for bringing that up since it Santorum’s involvement was minimal and it was way before anything was known about the scandal. It was nine years ago according to your link. No one but the parties closely involved knew anything about it at that time. Everyone else had no reason to think they were bad people at the time. They were athletic heros who supposedly helped children.
Again,…..Your a pig!
Read the comment section at the bottom of the linked web page. It seems others agree with me.

Many churches are very openly challenging the IRS’s limitation of their 1st Amendment rights. Glenn spoke about it last year (2011). More and more ministers are recording themselves making a political sermon and then sending a copy of the recording to the IRS. As of yet, no prosecutions because the IRS would lose in court.

Read the constitution. Show me where it states that a church can not have a political view, or support for a candidate. The constitution prevents the government (state) from running the church, like it did in England.
Libs/progressives started this whole nonsence about churches losing their tax exempt status if they speak of politics from the pulpit. They knew their (lib) ideas and ways were anti Bible, and needed a way to hush preachers. A real preacher will stand up and declared the truth anyway.

“Based on percentage, these are the total # of people out of 602.
Romney – (24%) – 144 people
Ron Paul – (22%) – 132 people
Santorum – (15%) – 90 people
The Des Moine Register poll y said that in 2 days, they asked 302 people. That means the total for each was:
Romney – (24%) – 72 people
Ron Paul – (18%) – 54 people
Santorum – (21%) – 63 people
That means for the first two days, these were the numbers (divided out of 300 to make a percent).
Romney – 72 (24%)
Ron Paul – 78 (26%)
Santorum – 27 (9%)
Ron Paul led everyone for the first 2 days.”
Thank you Mr Lee for breaking that down for us.
Something else to note about the poll – they only asked Republicans. Once you put the independents and dems in, Ron Paul will kick butt!

Well, actually Ron Paul doesn’t have a problem with trading with anyone, Israel or otherwise.
And he wouldn’t get in the way of those who want to build the Cordoba Mosque, because it‘s a states’ rights issue.
Yes, the Muslim Brotherhood intends it as a symbol of domination, but our Founders said that such factions are held in check by our republican form of government, without resorting to the violations of individual liberty that can then, in turn, be used against us,

Howdy! Hope you are well.
Correct, Ron Paul holds a consistent platform. Rick Santorum does not.
Rick tells us Islam is out to kill us and hates us because of the way we live here. Rick says Islam wants to destroy Israel. Rick then turns around and supports defending, aiding, and arming the very countries he preaches against. (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan) Rick is hypocritical as I see it and acts the very definition of a politician.
Ron’s platform ends foreign aid
Ron’s platform ends defending foreign nations
Ron’s platform ends arming foreign nations
Which platform is more friendly to Israel, the one arming aiding and defending her enemies with our Government or the one who stops doing so?
I like Ron Paul’s free trade policy. We the people can decide what products from what countries we support. I dislike Rick’s support thru Government of foreign nations, especially those who hate Israel, all the while preaching against those very countries. That make no sense at all.
Hope your new year is great. Keep up the good fight!

Posted on January 1, 2012 at 6:54pmThose of you who REALLY know the Constitution, know that the FEDERAL INCOME tax was ruled unconstitutional in 1895. That doesn’t make it constitutional, even with the 16th Amendment, because it was never fully ratified, and even if it were, it doesn’t pass the test of being APPORTIONED among the states, as REQUIRED by the Constitution.
Therefore, why do churches need any exemption from a federal tax, and why are the feds taxing it in the first place.
Second of all, why is ANYONE paying an income tax, at all?
Thirdly, what does that have to do with freedom of speech? Any preacher can say anything he wants, anywhere, it’s a FREE COUNTRY, or have you all forgotten our founding principles.

Yes, Ron Paul. The only candidate to predict the economic crisis is the only one who can fix it.
See here.
Herman Cain vs. Ron Paul On Predicting The Economic Collapse
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tn0EApd5wgw
I know we’re not talking about Cain, but I present this as a contrast between those who are actually said to be able to know about economics, and Ron Paul.
Did Romney predict the housing crash? Ron Paul did seven years before it happened.
Did Romney say nothing at all about the coming housing crash? Not many of us saw it coming, either, granted. But since Ron Paul did, then that means he knows more about why economic crises happen than do we OR Mitt Romney.

It happens, of course: I have been a Red Sox fan all of my life, but I noticed a lot more Red Sox fans after 2004, for example. In multi-candidate political races like the Republican Presidential primary, though, there is another element: many do not want to “waste” their vote. I liked Santorum back in 2008. I had hoped that he would run that year. When Bachmann looked “strong”, though, I voiced support for her because I wanted a solid conservative in any event and if Rick Santorum was not up in the polls, then support for him would be “wasted.” I subsequently supported more than 2 other candidates (you can guess who). I still would always tell friends that if I could pick the nominee single-handedly, then I would choose Rick Santorum. Now, I am back to supporting Rick Santorum. If he actually WINS in Iowa, then there will be a consoldidation of conservatives. The “Moderate” and the “Libertarian” candidates will still be strong, too — but it will be great to have a conservative who is finally well-positioned in the race.

The old example of the two frogs in the pot comes to mind.
turning up the heat gradually we don‘t notice so much until it’s too late.
but if the heat is too much too soon – we jump out to safety.
In our case, it’s a very big pot, the heat has been gradually increased and most of us frogs just keep going about our daily lives not really noticing.
the ones that are aware, try in vain sometimes to wake up the others as to the realities and danger of the situation we are in.
In our case though it will take the majority of us to effect the change necessary to prevent the demise of the Republic. And more importantly, on this single Earth we are Freedom’s last stand…..there is no place to jump to.

Many of his policies were leftist, and he expanded our international invention, and established more entangling alliances… He was a democrat that one in California on leftist ideals, and switched parties…
He did some good things that slowed the ‘progression’, but he’s just as culpible in the long scheme of things…
If we want to stick to the truth, we need to look at the good as well as bad in every candidate, in history…

“As nations cannot be rewarded or punished in the next world, so they must be in this. By an inevitable chain of causes and effects, Providence punishes national sins by national calamities” (as quoted in Madison, 1840, 3:1391)
