Mitt Romney Won’t Weigh in on Chick-Fil-A or Bachmann’s Muslim Brotherhood Inquiry

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney on Friday refused to discuss on the ongoing Chick-fil-A saga or Rep. Michele Bachmann’s call for an investigation into whether the Muslim Brotherhood has infiltrated the United States.
Bachmann (R-Minn.), along with four other House GOP members, sent letters to several top government departments in June calling for an inquiry into whether longtime Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin’s family and other American officials have ties to the Brotherhood.
“I’m not going to tell other people what things to talk about,” Romney told reporters on the campaign trail in Nevada in response to a question. “Those are not things that are part of my campaign.”
Bachmann has come under heavy fire for raising the Muslim Brotherhood question, including from members of her own party such as Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio). House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) broke somewhat with his fellow GOPers last week when he defended Bachmann’s inquiry, saying “her concern was about the security of the country.” Romney has so far stayed away from the issue.

Posted on August 4, 2012 at 2:56pmWhy talk about the economy when they can talk about (fill in the blank). When people don’t have a job and it does not look like you will get one anytime soon, it is hard to worry about MB infiltration and Chick-Fli-A gay marriage. When polled it is well down on the bottom so lets not worry about as no one else really does either.

So you are voting for Romney because he is white? Look I dont think Romney has a snowballs chance in hell of getting elected. If not because people are voting against someone and not for them. He has pushed away libertarians, he wont stand up for really any issue, and he has basically the same policies as Obama. That being said there are some people that will vote for Romney because he is white, or because he is Mormon. No different that the people who vote for Obama because he is black.

The inquiry is far more important though. We can’t have people that hate America and the free market in positions of power. That‘s why Obama’s gotta go and we must teach the history of Progressives, the Founding Fathers’ true intent, explain why Marxism doesn’t work and how the Christian principles and the free market made America so great so quickly… our jobs are to leave posterity informed so they won’t have to fight the same fights we do and our ancestors did. We let our guard down and trusted the government with our kids in public schools and the government abuses that power. We need to bring control of the schools back to the local level. Let the private schools compete for the best teachers and we’ll eventually be rid of the bad ones. I‘m confident that I’d be a great math teacher, do Liberals fear they aren’t good enough to compete? The Feds should never have been involved with education. Controlling education is far too much power for them to be trusted with.

The Obama election team along with every MSM news outlet is looking for anything to get Romney off track and defending himself instead of being on the offensive. Hell, look what Harry Reid did on the floor of the Senate! If Reid said the same thing anyplace else he could be legally sued for slander. As I understand it (the releasing tax returns issue), Romney releases 2 years of tax returns every time he runs for a political office since 2002. Since he has run for some office so many times the Dem’s should already have most of his tax returns since 2002. This is all political gamesmanship or a lack thereof or just Chicago unethical politics. I doubt Dr. Paul would allow himself to get caught up in it either. And that is why Dr. Paul is silent.

I agree with you, but here is the thing…One of the two IS going to win (If Paul pulls something out in Tampa I will be extremely happy…but I don’t see it) So….now unfortunatly we have to go to that argument that i argued against so many times before…but now the clock has ticked down so far that this statement is now true at this moment. Voting for Paul is a vote for Obama…..
So this is how I see it:
Choice A: We can have “Chicago Politics” that leans VERY slightly towards constitution and pro-Americanism, and at least slow down the decline of America, so that libertarians can have a chance to dig in a little deeper.
Choice B: We can have “Chicago Politics” with a big leverage with the “Shut up you racist bigot” button, who leans much further away from liberty than this country has ever seen. And will not have a chance to dig in and fix the problems.

2. Romney continues the wars and even wants to expand them. Why does Romney support the Syrian rebels? Is Al Qaeda ok in Syria and Libya but they not in Afghanistan and Iraq? Iran a very weak army. Fighting them will be even less of challenge than Iraq was(remember we defeated the Iraqi army in 3 days). After that we will have issues because everyone who has lost a parent or child will be picking up a Ak and planting IEDs. Have we learned nothing after 20 years of fighting.

If Mitt gets himself bogged down in the culture war, he will have opened the door for Obama to divert attention away from his failures and re-energize the demoralized liberal base. Its called political strategy and its not a violation of principle. By not getting involved, Mitt isn‘t saying that he doesn’t agree with Chick-Fil-A‘s CEO’s right to free speech or his position on gay marriage. Mitt isn’t saying anything because it will only serve to weaken his campaign. Its all well and good to fall on your sword for your principles, but the truth is that the only way that you can effectively propagate those principles is if you are in a position of power that allows you to do so. If Mitt gets involved with every single debate on social issues, he will not attain the position that would actually allow him to affect those debates. Wake up people! Stop complaining every time that Mitt doesn’t say exactly what you want (or, as in this case, when he doesn’t say anything at all). Wrong. By answering those questions he would be on the offensive. Obama would then be asked those same questions. The Blaze is a perfect example of a conservative website full of people who cannot stand Romney or will just vote against Obama. Only a few Mormons really like Romney.
If Romney wants to win(I honestly think he is playing to lose) he needs to attack. Release the tax records and crush Reid. Everyone talks about the Senate is the key, ding ding ding crush the Senate majority leader!! Next come out swinging in defense of the First Amendment. The support Bachmann. She has dug something up and the progressives are trying to bury it.
If Romney turns right and actually shows a difference between himself and Obama he will have a chance. If not, he is McCain II.

Mitt’s already released 1 1/2 years of tax returns, which pretty much debunk that area, correct? Okay, not enough years for you Reid. Guess how many years Reagan released. One. Mitt’s rich. Very, very rich. Good for him. Now let’s move on please. Yes, he needs to grow a pair on the issue of Free-Speech, just say it, Mitt. “It everyones first amendment right to have their own opinion.” Done. However, Muslim Brotherhood infiltration- that’s a bit more of something you might want to calculate. You don’t want to scare the public, of which 95% know nothing about it. Perhaps a better answer would have been that he would investigate Bachman’s “investigation” when he enters the white house. Or perhaps… don’t say anything at all on that issue. Could he be clever? Progressive, yes, but clever? Hmmm. I think we are all still trying to figure him out. I digress, maybe I just like Mitt because he’s not a wimp when it comes to visiting Israel and not visiting the Islamic theocracies over seas and bowing to the King of Saudi. Yeah, he’ll get my vote. Dammit.

I missed this (your) post earlier. Thank you for posting it as it brings me back to my Monk ways of thinking. And yes, I am a real Monk, even though I do not wear robes or Saffron colored sheets.
I would like to take your statement and apply it to all 4 POTUS candidates as if they were in an Olympic diving competition and I’m the completely impartial judge. This is what I’m seeing so far and the competition is not over.
Diver 1- Obama; Runs down the diving board with grace and poise, jumps off and flails his arms and legs wildly while screaming “vote for me or else” and is still hanging in the air screaming.
Diver 2- Romney; Runs down the diving board a bit awkwardly, jumps off and tries to do a decent dive and is still hanging in the air trying to prefect his dive.
Diver 3- Johnson; Walks down diving board to the end and is still standing there looking down at the water.
Diver 4- Dr. Paul; Runs down diving board with grace and confidence. His fans cheer wildly. He stops at the end, raises his arms high and his fans cheer even more wildly. He takes a few steps back, arms still raised and his fans are still cheering wildly.
What do you think? Where am I wrong and/or right? TIA

Posted on August 4, 2012 at 2:55pmAre you advocating staying home or voting for Oblamer disaster? Because it’s because of the Chick fil a massive showing, and the Tea Party (Bachman) that is precisely why Oblamerdisaster will lose come November. So, your point is both moot and invalid with a sprinkle of naivete.

Posted on August 4, 2012 at 3:12pmIt doesn’t matter who we vote for at this point, or don’t vote at all. Obama wins, at least the conservatives won’t go to sleep for 4 years, they will stay awake, keep buying guns, maybe even wake up and see they can’t afford to let the government indoctrinate their kids anymore. Mitt wins, the conservatives will declare victory, go to sleep, while Mitt continues the progressive policies of Bush and Obama, maybe at an even faster pace that Obama, with the backing of congress, not through executive orders like Obama has had to resort to.

Posted on August 4, 2012 at 2:23pmThe problem is this campaign is his to lose. All he has to do is avoid ticking off the precious “undecides” and they will break his way by 80-90% within the last weeks of the election. As a result, he’s way to cautious. It also means we won’t know what he eally believes until he gets elected. (If then.)
But at least he’s not a commie.

He doesn’t even have opinions about the economy either, except for vague Republican platitudes. The only thing he has resembling an economic plan involves raising taxes on 95% of Americans. GREAT WORK, TEA PARTY.

The MSM will not talk about his actual stances as they appear reasonable and logical. I agree with PAPERPUSHERMJ in saying Mitt runs a well disciplined campaign to the point that our calls to knee-jerk and react to subjects irrelevant appear to be falling on deaf ears.

Guess that’s why they are dragging Harry The Drone- On About Taxes Reid and Bill Try To Make Obama Look Like JFK Clinton into the foray ! Well, that’s in addition to the Jason Levin – styled “ attack ” on the Oakland Obama Headquarters by so-called OWS people. Just standard Democrat low life Alinsky tactics.
