MN State Senate GOP Leader Resigns Over Alleged ‘Inappropriate Relationship’

MN State Senate GOP Leader Resigns Over Alleged Inappropriate Relationship With Staffer

Minnesota Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch resigned from her leadership position Thursday and announced that she would not seek reelection. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports Saturday that Koch’s resignation came a day after a confrontation from fellow Republicans regarding allegations that she had an “inappropriate relationship” with a suborniate staff member.  KARE 11 on the “bombshell” resignation:

Koch is the state’s first female majority leader, and had led Republicans last year to win control of the State Senate for the first time in four decades.

“We’re here today with a lot of humility and some sadness and even shock,” interim Senate Majority Leader Geoff Michel said Friday. The Star Tribune reports that Michel and others have refused to identify the staffer involved in the scandal by name. Fellow Republican senators address Koch about the allegations Wednesday night after several staffers had approached leadership over the past two weeks about the “inappropriate relationship.”

“Her response to the conversation was …’I think I need to consider resigning,’ ” said Assistant Senate Majority Leader David Hann to the Star Tribune.

Michel says he had received an email sent to staff and senators late Friday afternoon from the Secretary of the Senate indicating that former spokesman and chief aide to Koch, Michael Brodkorb, was no longer employed by the Minnesotta Senate. The Secretary of the Senate has not confirmed whether Brodkorb resigned, was laid off or was fired.

Koch, 40, is married and has a teenage daughter. During an interview with the Star Tribune the day she resigned, Koch gave no indication of scandal and said her decision was “about me looking to the next option.”

“It’s public service and it is not supposed to be forever.”

What’s strange about this is that a female legistlator is involved. I can’t think of another example. It’s virtually unheard of for a woman to the stupid things men do routinely.

Does not matter what the status was of her marriage, she made vows and has a teenage daugher who is going to be damaged by this stoooopidity. Acting like she did, she should have been a dummycrat.

The story does not mention the status of her marriage. “It’s public service and it is not supposed to be forever.” Does the same hold true for marriage? I will say a prayer for her husband and children tonight.

    “Inappropriate relationship”?

Is anyone else tired of that phrase?

Does “inappropriate” really cover the truth?

I mean for me, it would be a useful term when you wear a cocktail dress to a black tie event. Or burp loudly. or say something with a double meaning. and accidential touch. maybe being too flirty or hidden friendships.

It would not include: Adultery, child sexual assault, sexual harrassment, unwanted advances, rape, beastiality, and for a GOP homosexual. That stuff is really, very serious and way different level of devil!

    ADUL-TERY
simple! We all know what happened, right?

    in-ap-pro-pri-ate re-la-tion-ship
Hard? 2 words 9 syllabels. And we have no idea the depth of “inappropriate” did they kareoke together or have burp fests?

Dems hire private eyes to follow republicans around, make sure 9 out of 10 who apply for positions in republican administrations are democrats pretending to be republicans, if all else fails they bribe and blackmail. The only way crap like this wouldn’t happen, is if they all stayed in solitary confinement heir entire term in office.

Ok. Bad behavior, you’re out, period. No circling of the wagons like Dems, no whining about ‘what you do in private’, blah, blah, rationalization, blah, blah. I AM sorry for her daughter and husband, but behavior has consequences, often for the innocents around you. I suppose I have to make an exception for the Dems, who as often as not, don’t have any innocents around them.

I think maybe it should be more of a question of why aren’t the republicans popular? I like the ‘conservatives’ estimates of anywhere between 500 and 1,000,000 permanent jobs all shovel ready with the keystone XL pipeline. What is a work year? Even the new trendy talking point 20,000 job number is vastly exaggerated. Technically it could be infinite jobs going by the ‘work year’ way of thinking. I mean someone retires and someone probably takes that job. Jobs forever! 10 billion ga-jillion jobs. Take that, demoRAT libturds.

Yes, Newt has the highest values when it comes to marriage and monogamous relationships. I can’t believe Herb Cain left the race, he is feeling sorry now, too. A man of true values, a GOP leader of MN and a gleaming example of moral superiority, an Ohio GOP congressman pulled over for DUI with a prostitute and cocaine. Why are White Conservative Christians the most persecuted peoples in America? These are the true patriots, the true American heroes living by the values they teach, good Christian values.
