‘Moms Drive the Economy’: New Romney Bumper Sticker Capitalizes on Hilary Rosen Gaffe

Let it never be said that Mitt Romney doesn’t have a sense of humor, or know a good opportunity to mock his opponents when he sees it. After Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen made her infamous gaffe claiming that Ann Romney had “never worked a day in her life” (and apologized for it), Romney has apparently decided to use the gaffe as inspiration for a new bumper sticker. USA Today has the story:
Mitt Romney now is raising money off Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen’s comment about his wife, asking supporters for $6 to get a bumper sticker that says “Moms Drive the Economy.”
The fundraising plea capped a wild day in which the firestorm over Rosen’s remark that Ann Romney “has actually never worked a day in her life” dominated the political discussion.[...]
“Ann Romney represents the best of what happens inside the American home every day. Family. Something to be cherished, not mocked,” says the fundraising pitch from Beth Myers, a senior adviser to the Romney campaign.
Rosen‘s gaffe has been widely perceived as a blow to the Obama administration’s tag line that Republicans are waging a “war on women.“ It remains to be seen whether this new ”mom-centric” advertising strategy will work out.

Posted on April 12, 2012 at 10:01pmRomney can run his whole campaign successfully if he uses what is thrown at him from the Dems. and throws in there face. They come up with the best ideas to destroy themselves. As long as he avoids the Rhino strategy (as we seen with McCain) which is play defense all the time and engaging the dems arguments by giving it legitimacy. He must not pander to the liberal base and give them an opening to show him as weak. He must seperate himself as an opposite to Obama.

Posted on April 12, 2012 at 9:36pmMoms read to their kids: no need to $22,000 per year per child federal Head Start, proven by Feds own study to have no long term benefit.
Mom’s cook for their children instead of eating out every night so no need for Michelle to launch a war on tasty restaurant food, meant for once per week or per month Mom night out..
Mom‘s watch their kids before and after school so they don’t raise hell in the nighborhood and end up in jail.
It goes on and on. The feminist movement of the 60′s convinced “some” women that being a Mom was less fullfilling, when in fact the abandonment of children by their Moms has been a social and financial disaster for this country. And BTW, as said many times above, it can be done on one income if you put your priorities right.
That said, some women have been able to “Do it all”, and my purpose here is not to make them feel guilty, but odds are against it.

Posted on April 13, 2012 at 12:48amjust a note on head start, I interview for a position and when we discussed salary I was told checks were only given during the school year. I stated that in my last teaching position I had some pay withheld so I could still have a payday during summer, like most teachers. Oh not at head start, they don’t offer that….so teachers can draw UNEMPLOYMENT over the summer. When the blood returned to my face I left, no offer for employment was extended.

There is a story on http://tiny.cc/xkhocw that tells of how Obama won his senate race in 2004. Axelrod fought to unlock his opponent’s divorce records and because of the things that were said his polls dropped from a certain win to a complete lose.
Obama believes in the War on Families, when it suits his purpose.

Posted on April 12, 2012 at 8:30pmHilary Rosen did not apologize for her comments, she merely said she was sorry if she offended anyone. Very different from a real apology. If you mean your comments, stand by them no matter the pressure brought to bear. If not, try a real apology. Moms deserve real respect for a too often thankless job. That’s right, a job. And an underpaid one at that.

Posted on April 12, 2012 at 8:36pmJust like my mother, I stayed home and raised my own kids. And just like my mother, I went back to school and became a teacher after the kids were raised. My grown children have told me on a number of occasions how glad they were of they way we raised them. It’s gratifying to know I made the right decision.

Posted on April 12, 2012 at 8:16pmIf stay-at-home moms haven’t worked a day in their lives, does that also apply to women who take care of other women’s children, like daycare providers? I don’t see how you can argue that taking care of children only becomes “work” when you are paid to do it. And what about the left’s favorite group of women, stay-at-home welfare moms? Do Democrats really want to offend such large groups of women?

Posted on April 12, 2012 at 8:09pmI see that ABC NEWS is doing a story on Ann Romney. The investigator, David Muir, says that ‘we need to know more about Ann Romney’. I would like to know more about the Democratic Strategy planner, Hillary Rosen, and her views about heterosexual women and married women. I would like to know how Hillary Rosen has gotten air time for her comments to judge Ann Romney. If you look at the Wikipedia website it would seem that Hillary Rosen has bounced around a lot in her ‘career efforts’. According to Wikipedia, Rosen had a female companion and they had twins but a few years later they were no longer together. I think this is important to understand Rosen’s possible attitude problems against Mrs. Romney. The Wikipedia website on Rosen’s background states that she is a LGBT activist.
I believe that the world views of commentators matters. It was important when I was in graduate school and one of the numerous lesbian professors I had repeatedly stated she ‘hated married women’. And her world view of contempt for married women showed in how she spoke to them in class.
Mrs. Romney should have just Tweeted a response that ” she is blessed to live in the USA where women are blessed with the freedom to direct their own life goals and styles. It is unfortunate that Rosen believes that one can only have an understanding or compassion if one has been an employee. This is a very limited understanding of the broad abilities and scope of all women.”

This is just an issue to get people fired up without making real change in Washington – the statists love when that happens. I hope this romney v obama thing does not continue to be a circus….
