‘Mom’s Gone Crazy:’ Four Killed in Seattle Shooting

(AP) — Police found four people fatally shot in a Seattle home Thursday after neighbors reported gunfire and a wounded woman ran into the front yard telling officers, “My mom’s gone crazy.”

Moms Gone Crazy: Four Killed in Seattle ShootingOfficers responded to a report of gunshots at about 1:30 p.m. and could still hear shots being fired from the house when they arrived, police spokesman Sean Whitcomb said.

Police said that while they were arriving, a man in his 50s ran into the house. Two more shots were fired and he ran back out, telling officers his wife had shot herself.

When police were able to go inside, they found the four dead, including a woman in her 50s they believe was the shooter, Whitcomb said.

He said police don’t believe anyone else was involved.

In addition to the older woman, the dead were two women in their late teens and a man in his 30s, police said. Their relationships were not immediately known.

Assistant Police Chief Jim Pugel told Seattlepi.com a 42-year-old wounded woman — who fled the house and is expected to survive — was able to speak to officers when they arrived.

“All she said was, ‘My mom has gone crazy,’ ” Pugel said.

The woman was in serious but stable condition at Harborview Medical Center, hospital spokeswoman Susan Gregg-Hanson said Thursday afternoon.

Police said two handguns were recovered from the house in a lower middle-class neighborhood a block north of southwest Seattle’s city limits. No motive for the shootings was known, officers said.

Neighbor Bobby Miller told KOMO that police showed up almost immediately after the shots were fired.

“I just heard gunshots. I come out and cops were all over,” Miller said. “Just ‘bam, bam’ and that was it. Then screaming over here.”

Travis Rowland, 53, said he was about a block away waiting to get his truck repaired at the auto shop when he saw a woman run from the house hollering.

As police arrived, Rowland said, a man “busted away from the police officers and ran into the house.“ Rowland said the man was inside for about 10 to 15 seconds before ”there were a couple more shots, pow, pow, pow. At first I didn’t know who was shooting. He came back outside.”

People having a legal permit to carry a gun, could have saved may lives. This woman, if in a public place, could have been stopped before taking more lives.
Think back to Ft. Hood or Va Tech……..one responsible person, carrying a gun, could have saved many lives!!
It is our right to carry guns. Guns can prevent crimes as well.

Interesting how the weapon is always talked up when it’s a shooting. A few years ago, several local people were murdered in a home, and everyone assumed a gun had been used. Local lefties were talking up gun control big time.
A day or two later, it was revealed that a knife had been used.
    The story died instantly.

Gun permits should never go to people with depression…wait. We all get depressed……but its not the gun that is the problem here

I am always deeply saddened by this type of horror. People can do awful things when they feel desperate, with no way out. We have to get this economy going again before we see more of this type of insanity.

I think this one reason why we should have a regulation on gun control. What if she took it (the craziness) to the streets or to the subway? Or to the nearby school and shot everyone on her sight?

Washington is a state where you have an affirmative right to carry concealed. If this would have happened in public, I guarantee you she wouldn’t have killed 4 before her well deserved dirt nap.

Seattle doesn’t have subways, so that wouldn’t have happened.

Saying guns cause murder is like saying matches cause arson. What is the matter with you? Our constitution allows it. Don’t tread on me.

And what if someone, who had a legal permit to carry a gun, was there to stop her????
Think back at Ft. Hood or Va tech…….many lives could have saved if a “responsible” person, carrying a gun, could have stopped the shooters!

I do get what your are saying about the constitution: the right to bear arms. But I think it is our responsibility to be able to use then appropriately. A recap, by the way, later today, the police concluded that the woman did not have a permit for the gun she used. I also didn’t mean subway as search, but Seattle has an underground metro bus system.

Yes, many people in Washington State are on prescription drugs like anti-depressants. Most of the year is covered in clouds and very gray and depressing. Washington State I believe, on a comparable average, has the least amount of churches in the country.

This is a sad story. Can’t say much more than that, since we don’t have details yet. I never have understood why people who want to die, take others with them. I guess it is the ultimate selfish act.

It could be that…..or it’s the fact that rather than face the punishment that awaits them for such hideous crimes, they attempt (key word) to seal their own fate.

God’s got a special place for people who are instruments of such evil and cowardice. And only he knows the truth that we do not about this awful event.
