Moore Vows to Post Bail for Assange: ‘We All Owe Him a Debt of Gratitude’

In a legal statement posted on his website, Michael Moore has promised to post Julian Assange’s $20,000 bail and says we owe the Wikileaks founder a “debt of gratitude.”

The statement repeatedly refers to Assange as a “journalist” who has worked hard to expose the follies of the government, even calling Assange’s actions “an act of patriotism.” It says that while Moore is out out of the country, he has already deposited the money into a specific account.

The most substantial part of the statement reads:

I support Julian, whom I see as a pioneer of free speech, transparent government and the digital revolution in journalism. His commitment to exposing the follies of government and business offers the greater society a chance to protect itself from these follies. Some aren’t just follies. Some are crimes. What do we do with someone who informs the authorities — and in this case it is the free people in a democracy who are the “authorities” — that a crime has been committed? Do we arrest HIM? Do we try to shut his mouth? Do we hound him, threaten him, track him down and hunt him as if HE is the criminal? He bravely informed the citizenry of what was being done in their name and with their tax monies. That is no crime. That is an act of patriotism. He should be thanked and honored, not abused and jailed. It dishonours this court to be used in this way, holding this man without bail. Julian has made the world, and my country in particular, a safer place. His actions with WikiLeaks have put on notice those who would take us to war based on lies that any future attempts to do so will be met by the fierce bright light provided by WikiLeaks and intended to expose those who commit their war crimes. His actions will make them think twice next time — and for that we all owe him a debt of gratitude.

UPDATE:

The $20,000 that Moore put up was only part of the total amount of Assange’s bail.

Assange has been granted bail, to cheers from inside and outside the court.

Moore seems to hate America so much, maybe he should just give the government all of his hard earned money from his films; and then be given a charity one way ticket to Cuba or North Korea where he will be able to, with the help of his dear comrads, work off all the extra weight in a camp of severe regime and reeducation.

Where were all of these little commie “free-speech” advocates when Wikileaks was disseminating the climate-gate emails? The New York Times wouldn’t touch the climate-gate emails, because of their “private nature,” yet they have no problem disseminating private emails that can help to destroy America. Moore is a traitor and I hope the new Republican controlled House hauls his lard filled butt into hearings where he can explain to the American People why he is aiding and abetting enemies of the United States.

    Glenn,
With respect to Assange, you said on your show, “The enemy of my enemy is not my friend.” Wrong angle, Glenn. Conservatives who support Assange, don’t view him as a “hero” like the left does. We support him on principle. Specifically, we decry his being framed for ludicrous sex allegations, and why he would be prosecuted for espionage, when the New York Times is given a free pass. A few days ago a former Attorney General admitted that the NYT could be legally liable. It was a “discretionary” matter. Of course, like any other left-wing media, they would never be held accountable.

The following Bible verse comes to mind, in relation to people like Assange:
“Behold, I myself have created the smith who blows the fire of coals and brings out a weapon for its work; and I have created the destroyer to destroy. (Isa. 54:16)

What do you think of the fact that Pakistan, a nuke country, is going to hell on Obama’s watch? And that we are not even told anymore how many AMERICANS get killed in the Afghan-Pak region? They are now reported as part of “NATO troops” casualties.

May God bring justice to the Traitor — through whatever means He sees fit. It is God who is our friend.

I have a problem with this. By allowing treason to become a non-crime, and associating it with free speech, we’ve allowed it to threaten our free speech. Why are we so unable to define and prosecute treason? George Washington was, by all accounts, and honorable, decent and extremely kind man, but he would have had that young private hanged by now. He did hang several traitors throughout the war. We are in the middle of two wars right now, and that young man gave assistance to our enemies. Why is this being treated as a question of free speech? It is not free speech. It is treason. That young man should be punished for his treason, and all co-conspirators who are American citizens should also be punished for treason. If Michael Moore wants to get in the middle of it, he too should be punished for his treason.

Meanwhile, Julian Assange is not an American citizen, therefore, unless you believe in global government, he is none of our affair. He is our enemy, by his choice. We need to let the Swiss and the Australians deal with him. If we get a chance to kill him, we should do so, on the field of battle, but not in the courts and prisons. He is not an American citizen, and does not have the right to our courts and prisons. If we hang the young Pfc and his co-conspirators (no, I don’t believe one man had access to all that material), and we hang Michael Moore for offering to give comfort to our enemy, there would be no further problems with Mr. Assange. No one would give him anything ever again, or anyone else, such as the new open leaks site.

Both of them should be charged with espionage. If they were releasing select focused confidential documents relating to a specific story about how they were exposing something the government did wrong i would think differently.

They just dumped a bunch of “classified” documents onto the internet. They are information terrorist. The documents were stolen from a government computer and released.

SIPR isn’t as secured as you might expect it to be. I don’t know what Mannings MOS is or what his duties were over seas, but it’s not unreasonable to believe that he either did have access or was using a computer that did have access and came across the files.

I hear a lot of conspiracy theories over Manning’s ability to gain access to this data. I could have access SIPR if I wanted to, I‘m sure I’ve used a computer that had access to SIPR with someone else logged in. It happens. I believe he went through the files and found cool Apache videos and kept looking and found the now called “Collateral Murder” video and decided to do a data dump and see what else he could get.

      I really don‘t think it’s unlikely.

Nobody seems to see the connection between the Stockholm terrorist attempts, and Sweden’s move to arrest Assange on ridiculous sex allegations.

The Muslim terrorist mentioned Sweden’s involvement in the Afghanistan war first and the cartoons last. Sweden has been involved in Afghanistan since 2002 and the cartoons were first published in 2007, so that is all old news. So what new situation could have triggered this reaction? I believe it is Sweden’s willingness to help Obama capture Assange. To a fair person, this was done at the expense of truth and justice. But some Muslims could view this as helping Obama silence an anti-war hero.

Assange’s arrest was obviously a quid pro quo agreement between the Obama admin and Sweden. We know that Obama is an expert at backroom deals. I’d like to know what Sweden got in return for arresting a man on false charges — that is, besides a terrorist attack.

That weight loss clinic requires only a one night stay, here’s why.

A friend of Mikes told him about this clinic,
A duy called said he needed to loose 25lbs. Lady to him to come at 6pm, so he shows up. Lady told him first door on the right. Guy walked in, a beautiful Blonde standing naked, with a sign around her neck saying “If you can catch me you can have me”. Guy chased her, caught her woke up 25lbs lighter.

This guy called his buddy who was Mike’s friend that needed to loose about 50lbs. Same thing I showed up at 6pm, lady told me 2nd door on the right. This time Mike it was a beautiful red head, with a sign around her neck saying “If you can catch me you can have me”. I chased her, caught her , OMG did I catch her I woke up 50lbs lighter. You have got to call this place.

Well at this point Mike can’t wait to get there. He calls set his appointment, lady says show up at 6pm. Mike gets there lady looks at him asks how much weight do you need to loose? Mike tells her 100lbs, she tells him upstairs last door on the left.Mike can’t wait he opens the door it’s pitch black inside, can’t see a thing. He walks into the dark room. BAM! The door slams shut the lights come on!

Mike spun around, and there in front of him …………………….

A 800lb Gorilla with a sign around his neck that said…

“If I catch you. I’m Gonna $&@% You!”
