‘More Than Just Sex’: Reported Half-Million Dollar, Taxpayer-Funded Video Graphically Teaches Teens Dangers of ‘Raw-Dogging’

It is difficult to imagine half-a-million tax dollars being spent on a four-part video series that graphically attempts to alert kids of the dangers of “raw-dogging” (a.k.a. unprotected sex), yet that is precisely what the New York Department of Health has done with its new video campaign titled “More Than Just Sex.”

According to Fox News, the video web series was created by the department through the non-profit Community Health Network (CHN), which has received more than $500,000 towards the initiative.

Fox News reports:

“More Than Just Sex” is a four-part video web series created by the Dept. of Health through the non-profit Community Health Network. The agency received more than $500,000 to teach high school-aged students about the dangers of unprotected sex.

The graphic videos feature young actors talking about sex while using street lingo – including words like “raw dogging” – having sex without wearing a condom.

Now, New York lawmaker State Sen. Martin Golden — who alleges the videos portray unprotected sex as “so good, so juicy”– is up in arms.

“This video is raunchy,” Golden told Fox. “It’s wrong, it’s shameful and they shouldn’t be doing it.”

“A half million dollars – that’s what this video cost us,” he said. “No wonder we’re spending so much in education. We’re spending it inappropriately.”

As a result, Golden is now demanding that state health workers remove the taxpayer-funded video aimed that uses graphic sex lingo aimed at teenagers reportedly as young as 13-years-old.

But a department of health official defended the “More Than Just Sex” series to the New York Daily News, saying the content is not “obscene” or “x-rated.”

The videos feature young actors using slang to talk about unprotected sex — or, “raw-dogging” — and the graphic physical and social conditions that can arise from the practice:

Fox adds that Michelle Perlman, a spokesperson for the CHN, claims the group wanted the videos to be realistic:

“We wanted to have an impact, that was going to be quick and easy,” she told the Daily News. “We want people to be like ‘whoa’.”

According to Golden – their mission was accomplished.

“I have a 13-year-old son and I definitely don’t want my son to see this racy video,” he said. “My staff looked at it and they didn’t want their children to see it. My community is outraged.” [...]

“Somebody asked me if I saw the other three videos, but after seeing the first one I didn’t want to look at the others,” he said. “If you watch this, you will be alarmed.”

“We’re spending a ton of money on education and we are 39th in graduation rates,” Golden adds. ‘We should be teaching reading, writing, mathematics and science.”

Update:  A communications spokeswoman who claims to work with CHN told The Blaze that the organization’s public service announcements cost $15,000, and that there are a series of 10 videos. As quoted above in this post, however, Fox News did report Department of Health “received more than $500,000 to teach high school-aged students about the dangers of unprotected sex.” The More Than Just Sex campaign may be only one small part of the borader agency initiative.

The House holds the power of the purse. However, it takes both Houses of Congress to get a budget passed. The House did their part, but we haven’t had a budget since 2009. Because of Senate inaction, the government has been operating on continuing resolutions.

This project needs to be halted immediately.

Bottom Line, Ron Paul is getting my vote in 2012 even if I have to write him in.
I am not alone, Many Ron Paul supporters are ready to take a stand and write in Ron Paul even if he is not the Republican nominee.
The Republican Party better think about that really hard and not marginalize Ron Paul voters.

@DetritusScreener thats funny, what you are really trying to do is get people to write in ron paul so obama can win. you are a sneaky liberal. remember when clinton won in 92 with 43% of the vote or something. that would have been a loss if the vote wasnt split among the other 2. you clearly want obama for 4 more years. a vote for a 3rd party would be as good as a vote for obama.

I dont like any of the republican candidates. But is Obama better than any one of them? I have never done this before, but we all have to get behind whoever gets on the ballet that is not Obama!! (I do not say that lightly, when Clinton made his second run I did not vote and in 08 I wrote Ron Paul). For once in my life I will say we have to rally together and cast the not Obama vote and deal with the consequences later (trust me they will be better than the consequences of a second term Obama) I fear that if Obama wins we could be participating in our last presidential election, he is already usurping the power of the voters and congress, where will he stop when the house is handed back to him in 2016 (check the approval ratings, a cleansing is coming)

Where did raw-dogging come from? In all of high school i have never heard that term. But i am not gunna lie, it sure brought some dirty thoughts to my mind, then i realized thats what it actually meant.

Is this commercial meant to be laughed at? there were some things I thought were hilarious. (maybe its just the immature senior in me)

Where do they get these actors? If that kid is in high school, i bet his buddies are laughing at him for playing in such a commercial.

Why is the movie so cheap? I could film a more realistic, humor filled, high school educational with a cell phone and my backyard.

Anyhow, what a zombie recruiting video….

Since the inception of sex ed in public schools the number of teen pregnancies have sky rocketed. With sex ed the number of abortions have skyrocketed. With sex ed homosexuality, STD’s and AIDS have sky rocketed.
Now there is a tax payer funded porn film to further the liberal agenda. What’s next? Maybe just go whole hog and have an assembly where all 6th graders watch people having sex the “wrong” way and then the “right” way.

The purpose of school school should not be about social issues…….but about knowledge in the areas of reading, math, science, etc. If they can read and think then even if they don’t have parents that are responsible they can seek out information. Mainly, though, I was responding to the ridiculous claim that the only reason teens have sex is because they’re given sex ed in school. This is one of the most risible things I’ve ever read in my life.

This is NOT new. They have been polluting kids’ minds since I was in 1st grade. I remember coming home after having learned some “new” thing and my parents were shocked. I thought I had done something wrong, but they explained that the teacher is not always right. I still remember…

Would have been cheaper to just buy a porn video and overdub the audio. The kids can’t read, write, speak proper, or add but they know the latest in sex techniques and lingo – WAY TO GO!!! This is just further proof of government out of control – down to the local school system.

500k. is a bargan. I bet by the time they bought permits, conducted casting calls, paid the actors, the dues to the film guild, filmed and edited that short piece, they probable spent more than 17 days. Likewise a 17 day trip for BHO to vacation in Hawaii cost us the taxpayers 4 mill. See everything can be put into its proper perspective.

Remember the government paid $640 per toilet seat?

SHASTA: Again with the BS about the toilet seat????? Try building an airtight fiberglass enclosure for a toilet in a combat aircraft that won’t fail under the stress of positive and negative G loadings. You simplify it to a “toilet seat”….STUPID!

@Neiman: Four PSAs at $500k in total is not particularly expensive.

You’ve obviously never worked in film or television if you think it is.

I could have made a better movie in my backyard. How in the world did that cost a half a million?
and PS… It’s wrong to teach this kinda stuff at school. It‘s the parents’ job!

It would be hysterical if we didn’t have to pay $500K for it. LMAO at “raw dogging” and “all glove/no love” though.

So, my tax dollars are now being used to create quasi-sex vids…….well, I suppose it’s better than wasting the money on new “green” projects.

Telling children not to do it will make them want to do it. Ha, as if DHS doesn’t know that. Boy oh boy this country has a serious disease that will probably destroy it because people just don’t seem to really give a damned.

I‘m SURE that’s exactly what Ronnie Ray-gun had in mind when he cut Nancy loose on D.A.R.E. — remember? “Just Say NO!” — Put it right out in front of them: LET them ‘experiment.’ — and turn a blind eye… Prison Industrial Complex development… :-) Black Ops/CIA funding. Goes back to the East India Trading Company in case anyone bothers to actually WANT to know true history. Same game, Same players — different era. Research the name Delano http://www.mapinc.org/drugnews/v97/n196/a03.html (i.e. Franklin DELENO’s namesake) — KENNEDY clan got their money BOOTLEGGING during prohibition. That‘s how it’s done, folks :-)
