Morgan Freeman: ‘Racist’ Tea Party Doing Whatever it Can ‘to Get this Black Man Out of Here’

Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman said Tea Party Republicans are on a racially-fueled mission to get President Barack Obama out of office, in an interview with CNN set to air Friday.
Speaking with host Piers Morgan, Freeman said Obama’s election, instead of curbing racism, has “made it worse.”
“The Tea Partiers who are controlling the Republican Party…their stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term,” Freeman said. “What underlines that? Screw the country, we’re going to do whatever we can to get this black man out of here.”
“But is that necessarily a racist thing?” Morgan pressed.
“It is a racist thing,” Freeman insisted.
Freeman also said the Tea Party’s presence “shows the weak, dark, underside of America.”
“We’re supposed to be better than that. We really are,” Freeman said. “That’s, that’s why all those people were in tears when Obama was elected president. ‘Ah, look at what we are. Look at how, this is America.’ You know? And then it just sort of started turning because these people surfaced like stirring up muddy water.”

I never knew Freeman’s politics before today, and I didn’t want to know. He was one of my favorite actors, and I could be blissfully ignorant about his politics. Now it’s all bee ruined for me. I’ll never be able to watch another Morgan Freeman movie again without remembering the fact that he called me a racist.
He called me a racist and said that I want to vote Obama out because he’s black… NOT because his policies are dangerous… it must be because Obama’s black. THAT’S what Morgan Freeman thinks about me, and I’ll probably never be able to enjoy his movies the same way again.

It’s time to take a step back and look around Morgan. The goals of the GOP, thanks to the tea party, are becoming more fiscally conservative. They are strong supporters of the constitution aiming for smaller government, lower taxes and a balanced budget amendment. Obama is extremely liberal, wanting socialized medicine, higher taxes and thinks the constitution needs major revisions. You don’t need to go anywhere near race to explain the tension between these two groups and doing so only makes you seem naive, disconnected from reality or disingenuous…. none of which reflects well on you.
