‘Morning Joe’ – A Day After Mark Halperin’s Insult, Show Replays Mitt Romney Incest Joke

Just 24 hours after TIME Magazine editor and MSNBC contributor Mark Halperin referred to President Obama using a vulgar and unflattering term, Morning Joe returns to air and opens their Friday show replaying a clip of Jon Stewart delivering a piece of comedy targeting Mitt Romney with a tasteless incest joke:

The clip was played at the same time of day as Halperin’s crude comment.  This seems odd considering during the apologies delivered by hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski at the start of the 8 am hour: great care was taken by both hosts to discuss their sensitivities to show content because so many children are watching the show with their parents.

Perhaps MSNBC/NBC’s policy deems it offensive to say vulgar things about the President of the United States, but attacking the leading Republican candidate using old, tired, stereotypical and offensive comments is just fine.

Additionally worth noting is the network has now decided to post the actual offensive moment when Mr. Halperin insulted the President:

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Yesterday, MSNBC’s videoclip archive section from “Morning Joe” edited around the off-color utterance. Following Thursday’s show, Halperin was suspended indefinitely and NBC issued a formal, written apology (which Mark Halperin supported).

So, the question remains, if Halperin’s insult to Obama was so improper as to warrant “indefinite suspension” and a formal apology, why has MSNBC chosen to post it for all to see? And why is incest all of the sudden okay?

This is an easy question answer. One ‘blooper’ like that deserves more – and more- and more (according to MSNBC).

They will allow more nasty-mouthed guests and analysts alike to dump on conservatives – and then laugh and say, “Wow, now that is worse than a Halpern-ism.” Trashy shows for their like-minded listeners.

@mbriz, I beg to differ. Glenn was stating a fact when he said that the president was a racist. It is verifiable by what the president says and what he does and the people with whom he associates.
You don’t have to watch Morning Joe to know what Halperin said. All the “news” agencies covered it ad naseum. The people with Halperin encouraged him to say what he had to say knowing that it would have to be bleeped, then laughed hysterically when it wasn’t. Frankly, the “apology police” are making me ill. How many “newscasters” and “politicians” have been fired or let go for the crude and obnoxious and sexually implicit remarks they have made about Sarah Palin, the Republicans, and the Tea Party.

Glenn never called the president racist. He said he thought the president really didn’t like white people. That’s not racism, it’s bigotry, and although it was disrespectful, I don‘t disagree with Glenn’s assessment. I have watched Joe and he is not a true conservative. I wouldn’t label him a communist but I would label him a progressive in the likes of John McCain.

It’s all designed to get conservatives to respond violently. The liberal left engages in this type of double-standard conduct because they know that it angers those on the right, and no one on the right will do anything about it. Well, up until now, at least. 90% of liberal strategy is to elicit violence and unacceptable behavior from their opponents. Without anyone and anything to point their finger at, they have to default to name calling and ad-hominem attacks.

It’s not a matter of holding everyone to the same standard (equal justice per se), It’s a double standard called Social Justice. It’s WRONG, so terribly, terrible wrong to say that sort of thing about a liberal, especially our God-sent Annointed One, who was elected to lead our evil nation and turn it away from it’s nefarious ways. It only applies to those evil capitalist-leaning conservatives that believe so very wrongly that businesses should succeed(at the expensive of FORCING their employees to work during the sacred weekday holiday (otherwise known as Mon thru Fri)), and that it is their Patriotic Duty to donate all of their wrongfully earned profits not back into the business (to grow it more), but to the coffers of the government, so that they can improve the quality of life for everyone smart enough to rely on the dole and look to the government for their moral leadership.
