‘Most Dangerous Thing I’ve Ever Made’: See This Man’s Point-of-View as He Free Climbs a Moscow Skyscraper

Man Climbs to Top of Kotelnicheskaya Embankment Building in Moscow

A Russian man climbed to the very tip of the Kotelnicheskaya Embankment Building in Moscow.

Climbing up a 32-level (mechanical floors included) skyscraper may seem like an endeavor only accepted by Ethan Hunt in Mission Impossible — and even that would be the work of Hollywood magic — but one man in Russia has done it and is showing us what it looks like from his point-of-view.

Watch this ITN News report with footage of the daring climb to the tip of the building:

The daredevil scaled the tip of the Kotelnicheskaya Embankment Building — a 577-foot high skyscraper in Moscow that is one of a group dubbed the Seven Sisters — warning others to not attempt under any circumstances. On his YouTube post, he writes climbing gear was removed to avoid accidents and that he considered this “the most dangerous thing I’ve ever MADE in my life.” He also clarifies in the video that he is holding the camera in his mouth — it was not mounted on a helmet-cam.

Here is the full 4:55 footage of the climb (Note: It’s worth holding out for the end when you see him nearly hyperventilate in relief when he makes it to a stable footing where his friend was waiting):

So far, for its death-defying climb and panoramic views of the Russian capital, the video has garnered more than 650,000 views on the video-sharing site since its April 2 posting.

      Hey, since this guy is Russian and the verb for “to do” and “to make” are the same, I think he is actually saying ‘MOST DANGEROUS THING I’VE EVER DONE’

      source: I study Slavic dialects as a minor, have yet to make it to Russian, but the verb in Czech, Polish, and Slovak all have two meanings.

      As a Russian American, I confirm that your translation is correct.

      By the way, that Kotelnicheskaya Embankment Building is a 15 minutes walk from a building where I spent first 25 years of my life. The “skyscraper” was a privileged residence of

      Sorry, some technical issue interrupted my writing and posted before I finished.
      I wanted to tell that that skyscraper was a privileged residence of privileged people in the Soviet Union: apartments were given by the Soviet government to leading artists, musicians, scientists, etc.
      For instance, Galina Ulanova, the world famous ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater, lived over there, as well as many movie actors and actresses.

      @MUSKRATPROBLEM:

      Your phrasing implies that Czech, Polish, and Slovak are Slavic dialects.
      If this is what you are taught by your “professors,” you have to change your College/University.
      1. It’s LANGUAGES, not dialects. Even Czech and Slovak, while being kindred, are still languages, not dialects.
      2. A lot more logical would be to put Czech and Slovak next to each other, and only then – Polish: Czech and Slovak are very close to each other, a lot closer than Polish.
      3. As for Russian, it’s even a lot more different from any of other Slavic languages, even Ukrainian.

      @CONSTANTINE IVANOV

      I guess I did not word it correctly, that is what the degree is called. I study both languages as well as history of the languages, forms, patterns etc. I am fluent in Czech and Slovak, a little Polish, German and Croatian. I will start studying Russian this next semester. I used to live the Czech Republic, one of the reasons I will never be Democrat.

    Ok..the bulky gloves/slick cloth & no secure wrap-around the wrist was odd and the gap openings on the top of the gloves that could get caught on something. The guy climbs when the temp must be chilly enough for bulky clothes/gloves. With the temp chilly, placing the camera in the mouth in lieu of a camera on a head-helmet…breathing in & out your saliva would necessarily diminish and get the dry & pain to the back of the throat. The KGB will be after this guy because didn’t I see him take a piece of the bldg? Did he have to get permission from authorities or…..oops..wait, I answered that question myself..this is in Russia….their attitude…”one-less-mouth-to-feed”.
