Mother Gives Birth to 15-Pound Baby in China

BEIJING (The Blaze/AP) — Chun Chun is a chub chub. The baby boy born in central China weighed 15.52 pound (7.04 kilogram) and is possibly the largest newborn on record since the country’s founding in 1949.

Chinese Newborn Could Be Heaviest in Countrys Record

Chun Chun could be the heaviest baby born in China.

The state-run Tianjin Post said Tuesday that the 29-year-old mother in Henan province gave birth to the boy Saturday by cesarean section. It said delivery took just 20 minutes and both mother and Chun Chun are doing fine.

Watch the AP report:

The paper said Chun Chun‘s parents are average size and there was nothing unusual about his mother’s pregnancy or diet.

The Sun has more from the mother about the nearly twice average size baby:

Chun Chun‘s mother Wang Yujuan sensed that something was different from her previous pregnancy with the couple’s 6-year-old daughter, who weighed just over 8.8lbs at birth.

She said: “I clearly felt that my body was more clumsy than when I had been pregnant with my daughter.

“My belly was bigger than it was then.

“I guessed the baby would be between ten and 11lbs.

“I never expected to hear that he weighs 15.5lbs.”

The paper said it wasn‘t immediately clear whether Chun Chun made China’s record books.

Guinness World Records says the heaviest newborn ever recorded was born to an Ohio woman in 1879 and weighed 23.7 pounds (10.77 kilograms).

Do you think when he’s 4 years old his father will make him run outside in the snow wearing a bathing suite and a pair of socks just like the Eagle Dad?

It isnt all the time Gestational Diabeties. I had a 12 lb boy, Dr let me go over 3 weeks. Passed my GD tests ect.. Husband was 11 lbs at birth, Dr says it ain the fathers genetics that deterimines the size.. YEAH right.. Hubbys grand dad was 16 lbs! My prob was, that the dr made me try to have him for 3 hours straight pushin even tho he NEVER entered the birth canal.. Needless to say, that dr can no longer practice in SC!

Oh sweet LORD…they tried to have you deliver him naturally??? My 12 pounder was born by c-section at 39 weeks (sooo glad I didn’t have to do the last week). Glad you & baby are okay!

It drives me crazy when people think it was because I had GD. My husband is 7′ tall! My “runt” was 8 lb 14 oz and I gained 27lbs with her pregnancy. I just have BIG babies!!!

I wonder what type of experiments the Chinese govt did to her to produce this huge offspring. Are they trying to breed giants to be huge fighting machines?

Just heard Michelle Obama has departed D.C. for China.

She’s going over to lecture the mother about child obesity, see if they live in a food desert, and offer $Billions in foreign aid.

If that baby were born in America, Obama would demand the baby give up half of its weight and redistribute it to less fortunate babies.

This is obviously the family trying to cheat the one child policy. It is big enough to be three kids.

    Lets abort it.

I think that I remember hearing once that in the country where it is not so populated, and families need help on their farms, they are allowed to have more children. Maybe that is why she was allowed to have another kid.

I’m not sure, but I think that you can have as many as you want if they are boys. If this one had turned out to be a girl, she probably would have had a forced abortion. Don’t quote me on that though.

Well, they’re not starving in China anymore, are they? Maybe the Chinese parents are saying to their kids, “Finish your plate. There are starving kids in America!”

Chun Chun can thank his lucky stars he wasn’t born a girl. But he is an adorable little chubber wubber. Our first daughter (adopted from China) was only 19 pounds at 19 months.

Here is a bit of perspective… I gave birth to twins who together weighed only about a pound more than Chun Chun, and they weren’t considered premies.
