Mother in Burning Building Drops Baby From Window Into Arms of Stranger

Mother in Burning Building Drops Baby from Window to Stranger

A Georgia woman was faced with the unthinkable Wednesday: remain with her children trapped in a burning building, or drop her 3-year-old and 2-month-old from the third floor into the arms of a stranger. Mother Ashley Brown chose to put her faith in Lawrence Fort, an unknown neighbor at the time who had been frantically knocking on doors within the apartment complex to let neighbors know that a fire had broke out in his kitchen.

“I just told her to drop the baby, and I promised her I’d catch it, so I had to catch the baby,” Fort told WSBTV.

Cell phone video showed that Brown tied a rope to the window and lowered the 3-year-old and herself. In addition to Brown and her children, ‘WSBTV reports that a cat named Kat survived after being tossed from a third-floor window.

29 to 36 second mark. I promised I catch the baby so I caught the baby. How humble. Glad everyone is ok.

You know I would have asked that same question but just today while making cookies and pudding, I accidently laid my pot holder on the hot stove service. I have one of those smooth tops that is black and as soon as you turn off the stove the red goes to black. I forgot that it was still hot and I put my pot holder on the hot part of the stove. I turned to wash dishes and started to smell something burning. Turned and there was the pot holder smoldering.

So it is easy to start a fire in a kitchen without meaning to.

After the story of the two year old left to die on a Chinese street by callous people, this story gives me some faith in the goodness of people. I hate to read these stories of children in danger, but I love the happy endings.

That’s the truth. I cried when I see the little Chinese girl. I am thankful for the decency of our American neighbors. May God bless this man for his act of kindness and care.

If I were able to see Lawrence Fort’s heavenly scorecard, I‘m sure there’d be a BIG green checkmark on the ‘Decent Human Being’ column. Thanks, Lawrence, and God bless you!

What does his race have to do with this story? Is it possible for you to just enjoy the happy ending? Why is it always necessary to inject politics or controversy into such utterly innocent stories? Why can’t you focus on the fact that a man helped save two beautiful children. I personally don’t care if he is black, brown, or purple. He is a HERO. .

Beautiful story Thank God everyone was ok.. It’s a no brainer.. They are trying to make it sound like maybe who knows who Lawrence Fort is, could be a child molester and the mother had to make a decision on drop the baby into the unknown or die in a fire.. Geez can you rewrite the damn story please especially this part : Mother Ashley Brown chose to put her faith in Lawrence Fort, an unknown neighbor at the time who had been frantically knocking on doors within the apartment complex to let neighbors know that a fire had broke out in his kitchen.

I do like your version better. I’m sure the last thing a mother would think of would be “Is this guy a child predator”. The mere fact that he ran around banging on doors speaks volumes and saved lives.

    Ok….

Cell phone video showed that Brown tied a rope to the window and lowered the 3-year-old and herself.

    or…

MOTHER IN BURNING BUILDING DROPS BABY FROM WINDOW.

SO….. which is it? dropped or lowered?
Really getting sick and tired of the sensational headlines.

Dropping a baby out a 3 story window, lowering another older child with a rope, then following the child herself….Pretty damn sensasional if you ask me. I think you misread the article.

Not much of a choice, but it is good to see the best of humanity. And cudos for the woman have a rope handy, while living on the third floor.
