Mother Kills Baby for Interrupting Farmville Facebook Game

Mother Kills Baby for Interrupting Farmville Facebook Game

Alexandra Tobias, who pleaded guilty to killing her son for crying during an online game.

A Florida mother has pleaded guilty to shaking her baby son to death after she became upset with the child for crying while she was playing the Facebook game “Farmville.”

Alexandra V. Tobias, 22, gave chilling details of the event to police. The Florida Times-Union reports Tobias told investigators that she shook the baby, smoked a cigarette to compose herself, and then shook him again.

However, initially she denied being involved.

“He’s only 14 weeks old; he’s not breathing,” she frantically told a 911 operator, according to local TV station News 4. When investigators arrived, Tobias told them a dog knocked the child off a couch, he hit his head, and then stopped breathing. She later admitted to the murder.

Tobias, who plead guilty to second degree murder of her son, faces 25-50 years in prison. Her son, Dylan Lee Edmondson, was 3-months-old.

“Ever since I found my mother dead, I just haven’t been the same,” Tobias said during a taped jail call to family.

You know…I see no reason for anything in this story to be reduced to Democrat or Republican.

There are enough inhuman scumbags on both sides of the fence to go around.

There is a DEAD INFANT here… that kind of makes the political realm irrelevant.

Can we grow up just a TAD and think of the child?

Very sad and tragic story. How are human beings capable of this degree of selfishness and can uncontrollably snap over a stupid and worthless game? There are some crimes that you just wish would never occur in this world, and very sadly this is one of them.

Not to make excuses for this so-called ‘mother’, but sometimes I wonder if gaming (and other technologies) doesn‘t change the way people’s brains are wired. If you screw up on a game, you can hit the re-set button. If you miss what someone just said on TV, you can hit rewind and hear it again.

That being said, this woman should be shaken till her brain turns in to tapioca pudding.

The only thing that studies have shown is that violent games can increase agressive feelings in people for a limited time, and Farmville is far from Doom. The only thing this game has against it is that the developer has admitted they try to make it addictive.

Have we as a nation have allowed this little by little to become the new normal.

My 13 month old grandson was beaten up over a french fry by a 19yr old. The baby had the nerve to take a fry off his plate. The young man picked him up squeezed him til he threw up, then held him by one arm and slapped a few times, head butted then thrown on the floor and kicked. Oh he beat up the my daughter when she tried to save the baby too. They gave the kid 90 days and probation.

Until we willing to punish the people who do things to children, AND I MEAN PUNISH!!!
Things like this will stay the new normal.

It aggrieves me to hear this. Had this been my situation, the 19 yo would be receiving the same treatment from me that he gave the baby. I don’t think the 90 days will do him near as much good as a well aministered @$$ whoopin’ would have. I’m certainly not an advocate of abuse, but a well timed and executed “tune-up” does wonders to teach right and wrong.

I think most of our current issues can be traced to belief in Darwinian evolution instead of special creation. After all, if we just ‘evolved’, then there is no absolute right or wrong, and no true morality – which leads to ‘me first’ attitudes.

How dare that baby need fed or a diaper change while mom is playing games!

I have been thinking about this a lot lately…More like 150-200 years. I really do appreciate our quality of life. No one has EVER had the quality of life we enjoy. Something as simple as a supermarket makes all the difference. Modern transportation and refrigeration allows us to eat foods from all over the world in any season…I could go on all day…TV, cell phones, computers, cars…The list is endless…

But what have we lost out on? I read somewhere that a single weekday copy of the NY Times in the late 1980′s contained more information than the average late 19th century man would learn his WHOLE LIFE! We are required to know so much today…And we are so reliant on time, filling every waking minute with timetables and schedules…We lost sight of what it means to be human!

We do not even TALK to our neighbors anymore let alone rely on them for anything. People break written contracts, a handshake is worthless. There is absolutely no respect anymore because their are no consequences for the lack of respect. We are told to accept things that are clearly wrong according to God’s Word yet Jesus Christ is not permitted….

Would I go back to a simple agrarian lifestyle, if I could? It would be hard to do if the rest of the world remained in the 21st century. But what if we could all go back? No modern medicine, shorter life span, living hand to mouth, hard, physical labor from sunup to sundown…But look how much closer to God these people were. People recognized what really mattered in their lives. I propose that they really had a better “quality of life” then we do today…

      But I digress…

      Thanks for the thought…

If you can manage, you need to move to a rural area. My wife and I did 4 years ago. We got rid of cable and broadcast TV. We have our neighbor to dinner quite often. We spend evenings (during nice weather) fishing in our pond or tending to our animals ( a few head of cattle and a small herd of goats). Getting back in touch with the community (through medieval means … you know CONVERSATION) hasn’t been too hard. Have a great day, hope it looks up for you.
