Mother Who Injected 8 Year Old Girl With Botox Now Under Investigation

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco authorities are investigating a mother who said on a national television program that she gives her 8-year-old daughter Botox injections.

Trent Rohrer with the city’s Human Services Agency tells KGO-TV that officials need to sit down and talk with Kerry Campbell and her daughter, Britney.

Mother Who Injected 8 Year Old Girl With Botox Now Under Investigation

Rohrer says it was unusual for a mother to inject a child with the anti-wrinkle shot.

Campbell appeared with her daughter Thursday on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” She enrolls Britney in beauty pageants and says she got the idea to give her daughter Botox from other pageant mothers.

Rohrer says his office received numerous calls from people concerned about Britney’s well-being after the TV appearance.

Botox injections can be painful and are not recommended for anyone under the age of 18.

Where is the father?? I think a lot of nonsense like this would be averted if both parents were involved. I don’t like getting the government involved with families, but we have created a society that expects it in these cases. I think the mother is in need of a good spanking and rough talking to! She should be barred from putting her child in these “beauty” contests forever.

Your post forced me to respond. I totally agree that this is over the line; however what about young children in gymnastics (broken bones), 5 year olds that ride motorcycles, or kids learning to hunt with weapons. Where does it end? Is the government going to control your every move? It’s all over folks. Giving your child an aspirin is considered practicing medicine without a doctors licence. Everyone is going to jail at the descretion of government.

Why, as a society, do we feel the need to make our children grow up faster than normal?!? What ever happened to allowing children to be children?!? We are violently reducing the age of innocence…

I guess by the age of 10, the mother will be getting her daughter breast implants…

EVERYTHING in me says YES! RUIN this woman! I couldn’t agree MORE but… botox is a legally available product, purchased legally, used (we presumed) by a legally licensed doctor, right? I know NOTHING about botox, except that it is derived from the toxin botulin (right?) so that ain’t great, but if the whole chain of custody of events here was legal, aren’t we being little Nazis about this? I mean, is the remedy here LEGAL or MORAL? Seems to me this is not a case for the “state” but for her neighbors, her friends, her town, her relatives, her kid’s school, etc. to SHUN her. Handle it SOCIALLY, right? Damn. This is a hard one. Because like I say, I HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS STORY. ALL OF IT. The vanity, the message it sends to this poor kid, the way it will f* up her thinking about herself and her looks… I mean the WHOLE THING is AWFUL, but it is LEGALLY ACTIONABLE or, like I say, a SOCIAL matter? I worry about the slippery slope here. What if you let your kids tattoo a crucifix on their arm or something and the state comes for your kid? I mean, I HATE it, but it if that‘s your thing and it’s legal…

I watched this story on abc last night so I did not rewatch the clip here. The mother of this child is the one injecting her, she insinuates that she is getting the botox illegally. On the program that I watched they go on to explain how giving botox to a child so young could cause permanent facial paralysis. My point is I don’t think she was doing this legally and she knows it but simply does not care.

Not the cause of our sick society, but a definite symptom. This idea that beauty resides on the outside AND ONLY on the outside is all at once stupid and sick! This mother is likely so ugly on the inside she can‘t stand to look at herself in the mirror and she’s passing on that ugliness to her own daughter and neither one realizes it. The child will likely (likely, nothing is carved in stone yet) grow into one of those spoilt teenagers who believe they are entitled to whatever they want. When these kids don’t get their way they try murdering their friends/enemies or their own parents (a la Menendez brothers) or holding up stores or whatever. It’s sad, and it will all be her mom’s fault in a round about way.

    Grey

Syringes are legal and can be used legally for medical purposes. My husband gives me a monthly shot, prescribed by my doctor. It saves office visits and money for everyone (me, doctor, insurance agency). Before we jump in with regulations about who can and can not have/ use syringes, we should consider medicating self or family members is already disallowed in the medical community.

The problem is not the syringe or the use of it; the problem is the mother incorrectly medicating her child, willfully.

I cannot relate, on any level, to a mother who puts her child through these pageants.

My strongest advice to my girls when they were young was to enjoy being the age that they were – be happy playing with Barbies, riding bikes and hide and seek. You WILL get older and do ‘big girl’ things, but you can never go back and be younger.

So what are these moms trying to say to their girls? Again, I cannot relate whatsoever.

The fact that this woman thinks her child needs wrinkle medicine is just perplexing. The harm that this woman is doing to her child just makes me want to scream. I feel so sorry for the child! I admit the little girl is kinda cute, but in this world she would never win a beauty contest with or without botox injected in every part of her body. It’s the mother who is sick. Just remember the little Jon Bonet Ramsey incident. Poor little thing didn’t have a life with her making her into a “Beauty Queen”
instead of letting the child have a normal childhood. Little girls need to play with dolls and play hop-scotch & not try to look like a baby ******. Too many sicko’s out there who like this look.

My 8 year old daughter recently had plastic surgery, so I was wondering if there was a reason for it (my daughter’s surgery was in the middle of an umbilical hernia repair operation… the surgery gave my dd an innie belly button as opposed to the outie that she was born with).

It looks like this was not a case of medical necessity, or even involved anything that was medically recommended. But you never know when you only hear half of the story.
